10 favorite albums of 2015 (+10 bonus songs)
I decided to do a formal 2015 top 10 this year. I simply allowed myself 10 more really good songs on other really good albums (in alphabetical order). Cheers and have a great 2016 year of music! |
20 | | Vessels Dilate
Song : Elliptic
Another band I always come back to. Lots of electronic with a bunch of post-rock fun. |
19 | | Strung Out Transmission.Alpha.Delta
Song : Rebellion of the Snakes
The album is not always perfect, but this song is pure dope. Punk-rock |
18 | | The Story So Far The Story So Far
Song : Nerve
This one was all killer no filler, but with just 10 choices and so much great music, their hardcore pop-punk didn't make the cut. |
17 | | Jeff Rosenstock We Cool?
Song : Nausea
Really cool album, sing along songs and they put out a great show. His other band Antarctigo Vespucci is another 2015 highlight. Pop punk |
16 | | Marietta As It Were
Song : Horse Tattoo
I really thing this would make the cut; great emo record full of catchy melody. This song is among my favorite of 2015 period. |
15 | | KEN mode Success
Song : These Thight Jeans
Big song, gig riffs, big fun, beautiful vinyl packaging. Post-hardcore/noise/loud-ass shit. |
14 | | The Kandinsky Effect Somnambulist
Song : Trits
Weird jazz/math experimental stuff. Been following them for a while, always good, specially this one. |
13 | | Ghostface Killah Twelve Reasons to Die II
Song : Let the Record Spin (feat. Raekwon)
The album is even better than the excellent part 1 album. still some filler, but this kicks some ass. Hip Hop |
12 | | C H R I S T Tower
Song : Sine
HUGE album by the Montreal act, but Sine if just something else. Post-rock |
11 | | Anekdoten Until All The Ghosts Are Gone
Song : Writing on the Wall
I kept coming back to this album all year long, this song being the main reason why. prog rock |
10 | | Achigan La société du mépris
Du punk-rock efficace, engagé et accrocheur. Gros retour des gars de Québec. |
9 | | Public Image Ltd What The World Needs Now
I might get rocks thrown at me, but this is among the best post-sex pistols stuff Lydon's ever done. Post-punk |
8 | | Jean Leloup À Paradis City
Le Grand retour de Leloup. Pleins de chansons de concession. World rock/folk |
7 | | Speak Low If You Speak Love Everything But What You Need
Was all over this one at mid-year. Smooth emo. |
6 | | Good Riddance Peace In Our Time
Don't know if it is their best album, but it's close. Punk-rock |
5 | | Spurv Skarntyde
Another post-rock gem. |
4 | | Steven Wilson Hand. Cannot. Erase.
It is always good; hard to rank Steven's record each year but this is one of his best. Prog rock. |
3 | | Turnover Peripheral Vision
Instant hooks and fun. Pop-Post-punk |
2 | | April Rain Leave Me No Light
One of my favorite Post-rock record in a couple of years. |
1 | | Riverside Love, Fear and the Time Machine
The only 5/5 of the year. Polish post-prog perfection. |
