How different is Pink Flag from Chairs Missing
Also, how country is Neko? Like Wilco country? |
YetAnotherBrick
12.30.15 | 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 11, and 15 are all perfect or near-perfect. have fun man. 4 was actually my first straight punk album and is still one of my favorites. few bands have equalled its scathing-ness |
AmericanFlagAsh

>check 1 because u will be obsessed with it
>check 5 solely so u can learn to understand why people make fun deadheads and then read the graphic novel series Deadly Class to experience one of the best comics out there right now and also laugh at the best deadhead jokes ever.
>check 9 so that you can sing SHARP. DISTANCE. HOW CAN THE WIND WITH ITS ARMS ALL AROUND ME !!! at the top of your lungs whenever you feel sentimental
>check 11 so you can be cool
>check 12 so that you can sing JUST WANNA BE A WOMAN with your fabest friends on epic road trip adventures and also not be that guy to not have listened to one of the greatest albums ever at least 50 times.
>check 14 so that you proceed to piss off prog nerds by posting "phil collins solo albs>>" all over the place
>check 15 so that you at least have the first stepping stone on the path to not being a hip hop pleb
>check whatever else you want |
ArsMoriendi
12.30.15 | ">check 9 so that you can sing SHARP. DISTANCE. HOW CAN THE WIND WITH ITS ARMS ALL AROUND ME !!! at the top of your lungs whenever you feel sentimental"
But "Heart of the Sunrise" is on Fragile, not Close to the Edge.... check both anyway FlagAsh they're great.
I also vouch for 1 and 12 being amazing.
5's entire discography is just simply terrible. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.30.15 | whoops yeah check Fragile instead of Close to the Edge also |
theBoneyKing
12.30.15 | FlagAsh: Neko Case is hard to compare to Wilco's level of country. I would say she is about as country as they were circa Being There, but it is a different style. She has a really unique sound that I have heard called "country noir". I don't know what your tolerance level for country is (I personally love the genre, so it's hard for me to see it from the perspective of someone who might think "This is too country for me"), but I think you will like her. She's definitely much more alt-country than straight up country though. Her voice is also amazing. |
zakalwe
12.30.15 | The Clash - The Clash |
theBoneyKing
12.30.15 | Try the Neko songs "Pretty Girls", "I Wish I Was the Moon", "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood", and "Hold On, Hold On". They should give you a sense of her style. |
AmericanFlagAsh
12.30.15 | Haha thanks Potsy. I didn't even realize the "deadheads" was a thing lmao. And okay I will check Fragile before Close to the Edge.
@Boney Yeah I'm pretty turned off by country. It took FOREVER for "Old Black Hen" to grow on me from Magnolia Electric Co. but, okay I will check those songs right now. |
AmericanFlagAsh
12.30.15 | Also Zak I'm very familiar with that Clash album, but just never rated it. I used to listen to them a lot before joining this site. |
Anthracks
12.31.15 | Fragile and Close to the Edge pretty much go hand in hand. Once you cut the filler from each they pretty much feel complete together, in my opinion. |
AmericanFlagAsh
12.31.15 | Hmm I'll see I'll see |
DoofusWainwright
12.31.15 | F"ck all this and listen to Sunhouse |
AmericanFlagAsh
12.31.15 | Idk I've been jamming 11 and it's pretty fucking awesome

Tunaboy45

AmericanFlagAsh
12.31.15 | I hear it's hairy, but tidy. You know how they were back then. |
Tunaboy45
12.31.15 | I've seen old playboy centerfolds, they really didn't mind having a jungle down there. |
theBoneyKing
12.31.15 | F"ck all this and listen to Sunhouse [2]
FlagAsh it's a lost folk classic from 1998, jam it pronto. Sunhouse is the band name. (Sorry Doof I kind of copied your sound off there.) |
AmericanFlagAsh
10.07.16 | I didn't listen to any of these except Gang of Four lol
But I did start Kate Bush's, Joni's, and Nick Drake's discog |
rabidfish
10.07.16 | no yes, moar king crimson...
