01.25.16 | most confusing game ever |
Tunaboy45
01.25.16 | fuck yeah |
Nazzadan
01.25.16 | Gameplay was great, graphics had a very nice charm about them, story was decent. Solid game, not worthy of the Bioshock name IMO |
tommygun
01.25.16 | too much handholding and exposition, got boring as fuck, never bothered finishing the fucker |
TheSpirit
01.25.16 | One of the only games I've played to completion i the last like 100 years |
Tyler.
01.25.16 | Reminds me to play bloodborne cause that's way more fun |
LotusFlower
01.25.16 | i hate this game. |
Deathconscious
01.26.16 | i liked it, mainly for the story. the gameplay is decent, but it doesnt provide much replay value. |
NakedSnake
01.26.16 | I just finished it like last spring. Its great |
Space Jester
01.26.16 | Liked it when it came out but now thinking about it just makes me want to play System Shock 2 |
emester
01.26.16 | Gameplay feels a bit archaic imo, but the deeply layered story makes up for it quite well. In addition the game looks gorgeous even today. Still gotta play the Burial at Sea DLC tho |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | The story wasn't anything special, made worst by an ending that tried to pull off another Would You Kindly? twist and only made things worst. Not to mention almost every aspect of gameplay is counterintuitive to the story as a whole.
I dunno, i just really, really disliked this game. |
emester
01.26.16 | Also the Handymen were very underused despite I remember them being cited as the new Bouncers |
TalonsOfFire
01.26.16 | This and The Last of Us were the best games of the year, and among my all time favorites. BioShock trilogy is nothing short of incredible, some of the best settings/environments in video game history. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | I didnt need it be groundbreaking, it just felt like it was trying really hard TO BE groundbreaking with it's production values that it really didnt take the time to make a good game.
Did I enjoy it when I played it? Sure. But looking back, at the end of the day I was just playing another shooter at the core with a story that tried (and failed) for me. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | I will agree it looked beautiful though, and I did like Elizabeth as a character. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | I dunno, i died a lot more to Big Daddies than I did Bouncers. Except for the Handyman in the employment field, that one dun pissed me off.
So did those Patriot gunners. |
Taxt
01.26.16 | Really enjoyed the story, characters, sound design, and art direction.
The gameplay became a bit of a slog after a while, honestly, but I still count it among my favorites of the recent years. |
Deathconscious
01.26.16 | ive never played the first two Bioshocks mainly because of the fact that there is zero consequence for dying. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | you lose a lot of money for dying, which in the first games made it impossible to get any upgrades without offing the little girls... while in Infinite i got through the entire campaign without having to buy many upgrades except ammo capacity and some accuracy boosters. |
wwf
01.26.16 | I understand almost all of the complaints with Bioshock Infinite (especially about the combat, even though it feels sleeker than previous Bioshocks by far), but I love it anyway; easily in my top 5 of all time. I'm watching RLM right now, so I'd compare it to what Jay had to say about Prometheus, paraphrased ofc: 'If you are genuinely distraught over an incredibly ambitious but incredibly flawed work, then there isn't any hope for you'
They clearly tried with it so very hard, and in some ways, it's very effective. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | in some ways yes, but in a lot of ways its a mess that makes it hard to like it. if i feel like it's flaws undermine it's positives then its completely fair to dislike it. None of that "theres no hope for you" bullshit attached. |
wwf
01.26.16 | They were referring to the hyperbole around Prometheus though, like the 'this movie ruined my life' shit and all of the extremely active hate around it |
EnyaFangirl
01.26.16 | prometheus was just meh but i don't have much desire to ever revisit it |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | Oh, thats understandable. That can imply to just about anything at least. At the end of the day you just waste a few hours of your life, lol. |
Deathconscious
01.26.16 | @ovdeath thats the problem though is that when theres no repercussion, its kind of hard for me to get into the atmosphere of the game. i can just run at the enemies and not give a shit whether i die or not, knowing ill just respawn and come back to kill them after already having lowered their health. having a penalty for fucking up is a vital part of suspenseful gameplay. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | and you do get a penalty that makes recovery to stay on top of harder enemies in later parts of the game harder. not to mention all enemies heal full health. i dont know what youd suggest to have a more justified "punishment" for death that doesnt turn the game into a mess. |
Deathconscious
01.26.16 | "(also that's bullshit since you can turn off the cryo-chambers so death means you revert to your last save)."
"also yeah you lose money, health and eve"
didnt know this though, i thought Infinite was the only one with a consequence for dying. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | nah, its a cross series thing. and in the earlier games, losing money and eve was a death wish. |
Trebor.
01.26.16 | "most confusing game ever"
lol if you're a fuckin dummy |
Vetimus
01.26.16 | Anyone else get the problem with this game when you turn the xbox of and restart it you suddenly lose a tone of progress? I had to reset the date on my console to fix it.
lost about 3 hours of gameplay was pissed as fuck. |
Trebor.
01.26.16 | "Prometheus was an amazing film"
We were so wrong! |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | Isn't infinite supposed to auto save? |
ConcubinaryCode
01.26.16 | I started playing the original bioshock on survivor difficulty and it's kicking my ass. Big daddies are damn near impossible to kill. Infinite was great too btw. Yall need to play the burial at sea dlc for it. It this together the first and infinite. |
Vetimus
01.26.16 | You cannot save the game, all the dates are wrong and it will confuse the console and make it load a saved slot from way back since the date is all out, go search it before saying such a fucking dumb comment, HEAPS of people had it. |
ConcubinaryCode
01.26.16 | Connect to the Internet or manually set the date if you're not connected? Honestly losing progress in infinite isn't the worst thing ever since you can breeze through environments once you know what you're doing. |
Vetimus
01.26.16 | No not mad, its just true, it has nothing to do with forgetting to save the game I always save a game at any opportunity, it was a common problem with xbox users and this game. It was something to do with the date of the xbox being all wrong for some reason, never had it with any other game. |
ConcubinaryCode
01.26.16 | Right, so how about that system shock 3 what's done coming out guys? |
Vetimus
01.26.16 | It was a shame because it is a great game, but I did manage to fix it so its all good. |
EvoHavok
01.26.16 | I loved this game. The story is one that stays with you, and that's not something every game can pull off. |
ZombicidalMan
01.26.16 | I've beaten Bioshock Infinite about three times now, whereas my Bioshock playthroughs are about ten (several times on hard). Infinite is so inferior in literally every aspect. It's just this boring hallway shooter with a dumb time travelling alternate timeline plot - so bullshit thinly veiled under some patriotic theme. It looks beautiful, yes, and it provides hours of fun, but the vigors are so lacking and everything so repetetive I just can't play it again. The few excellent portions are overshadowed by the monotony and absurd story. Not to mention everything feels like a less interesting re-imagining of Bioshock. Sure, System Shock 2 is a preceding masterpiece, but at least Bioshock took a drastically different approach. Infinite was a "sequel" which ended up being a re-skin with a lot less charm. Few environments intrigued me enough to explore, having main characters didn't aid the story, the audio logs weren't that interesting. I don't hate Infinite, I just have had a lot of time to think since its release.
And to anyone struggling with Bioshock on hard, electric buck and trap bolts are your friend |

If you're looking for a plot that actually confuses you, go to the shit pile sonic '06 game. Perfect example of why time travel is a shitty ass plot device. |
emester
01.26.16 | Wait sonic 06 has a story?
I've beat that thing years ago and I didn't notice anything coherent except it being like a fan fic clusterfuck |
ZombicidalMan
01.26.16 | The effectiveness of weapons has more to do with enemy type than area, it's just that a lot of the time those things coincide. But against Big Daddies, electric buck is always great, and you get it close to the beginning in Medical.
Personally I always boost melee perks like wrench jockey, wrench lurker, bloodlust, etc. Makes it real easy to finish off regular enemies until the end of the game combined with weapon station upgrades |
CalculatingInfinity
01.26.16 | "Only about halfway through. The thing about Bioshock on hard is that what weapons work seemingly changes entirely area by area, no matter what enemies you're facing."
Crossbow, Head Hunter, Electro Bolt. Congrats you've broke the game and won instantly no matter what you face minus Big Daddies but even then are easy by that point. |
Deathconscious
01.26.16 | all this talk about bioshock is making me want to play it. |
LotusFlower
01.26.16 | all the games are cheap as hell now and days (picked up the entire trilogy for about a total of 19 dollars) so go on ahead and do it. First game is great. |
Aftertheascension
01.27.16 | "Wait sonic 06 has a story?
I've beat that thing years ago and I didn't notice anything coherent except it being like a fan fic clusterfuck"
It was a story, but it was convoluted and stupid.
