Megadeth Ranked
Megadeth was the very first metal band I heard and the one that got me into the genre. With Dystopia's release, I decided to check out the portion of their discography I previously ignored. Most of it was disappointed as I expected, but there were a few surprises within, especially when revisiting some albums I merely gave a once-over. So here's my ranking, yeah. |
15 | | Megadeth Super Collider
Ugh boring soulless pop "metal". |
14 | | Megadeth Risk
Certainly an oddball in their discography. Some stuff on this actually isn't all that bad. But it's not really a good album by any means. |
13 | | Megadeth The World Needs a Hero
They're trying to dig themselves out of the Risk hole here, but don't really do anything. The album is boring, is what I'm saying. |
12 | | Megadeth Cryptic Writings
There's definitely some great songs on here, but there's also a lot of clunkers. A looooot of them. |
11 | | Megadeth Th1rt3en
This album kind of just exists. It's not really remarkable in any way, but it's not bad enough for me to care about bashing it any. Decent, I suppose. |
10 | | Megadeth The System Has Failed
This album is hit and miss, but it's not too much of a bumpy road. Definitely some good tracks on here, but it's not too remarkable. |
9 | | Megadeth United Abominations
The first album of theirs I picked up after hearing Rust in Peace. Obviously not as good as that one, but it's a decent effort. Some mediocre tracks here and there, but all in all a nice output. |
8 | | Megadeth Countdown to Extinction
The title of this album is definitely fitting for their discography after this album came out, despite a few peaks in the downward slope. There's a lot of hit and miss on this album, with the hits being pretty damn good and the misses being pretty boring. |
7 | | Megadeth Dystopia
I wasn't expecting anything great from this album, but it exceeded my expectations. Kind of formulaic, but it's pretty good. |
6 | | Megadeth Endgame
Really it's a toss up between this and Youthanasia for the fifth and sixth spots. Youthanasia is where Dave sounds the best and this and beyond is where Dave's voice is shot to hell. This is definitely thrash metal, while Youthanasia is barely so. Definitely some kickass stuff on this. |
5 | | Megadeth Youthanasia
This actually isn't that bad despite not being all that thrashy. Even the weakest songs are pretty solid and have a nice groove to them. |
4 | | Megadeth So Far, So Good... So What!
The worst of their first four, but it's still better than the rest. There's a steep decline after this one, in my opinion. Which means every album before it on this list. |
3 | | Megadeth Killing Is My Business...
Rattle your goddamn head. |
2 | | Megadeth Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?
Obviously. |
1 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
Did you expect anything else to be here? |
