02.23.16 | - 80 vinyl (12" and 7"; no 10"; Neutral Milk Hotel box set counted as one release)
- 7 tapes
- some CDs but don't keep track as i don't actively collect them; physical ownership of vinyl seems more...satisfying; only get CDs for specific content/quality reasons, like need the bonus tracks, FLAC, etc.
dude 2700 is one hell of an achievement |

02.23.16 | "only ten inch i own is kid a. don't know if i've even seen any others."
oooooh i really want that one too. anyway i guess the deal with 10"s is that people don't make so many records that are the proper length to fit on a 10"s and sometimes even if they do they just go ahead and print it as a 12" or a 2x7" anyway. |
Pangea
02.23.16 | I have around 25-30 cd's |

02.23.16 | Thanks dudes, As you prob. know I am a huge advocate for vinyl, something about the physical demands of having to get up and change the record or side every 20 minutes that keeps you engaged and more focused on the music, plus the larger artwork, and little extra's that make it cooler than any other format, like the Love Gun with an actual Love gun in it with tattoos and stuff like that, the hunt to find the best copy possible for the cheapest price, and the ability to take chances on stuff you haven't heard when you find stuff at garage sales for a quarter an album.
Evilford shame on you, that is why there is so much shit out know |
Watchman97
02.23.16 | 26 for me, in under a year of collecting. Lately I've been going for die-cut sleeves or and/or colored vinyl https://www.discogs.com/user/skalies97/collection |

02.23.16 | I'd like to get a good idea for my collection, but it is spread out between hard drives and devices. My ipod is maxed at, like 19,000 songs or whatever, but I bet I have at least double that. |
dbizzles
02.23.16 | Wait, fuck, are we talking about vinyls? |
wham49
02.23.16 | Evil, that is why you should be a vinyl lover, if you try you can get great albums for under a buck or at least under $5
Virpi awesome, I read in a pretty cool Vinyl collectors book called "Vinyl Junkies" that you cannot consider yourself a "collector till you get to 10,000, do not think I will ever get there, but will try, really had to put the breaks on lately, wife is starting to question |

02.23.16 | @wham49: of course, not all records are vinyl. most of the pop and the newer records are cds. (I'm a writer for a German music site, which is why I'm drowning in cds.)
All the "classics", most of the electronic and hip hop records and lots of obscurities are vinyl, though. |

02.23.16 | mine is tiny. I've got the 2010 remaster of Disintegration by The Cure on 180 gram double, the Record Store Day exclusive Kocytean 12" by Katatonia on translucent orange, and a cherry red 12" of Climax by Beastmilk plus the Use Your Deluge 7" on clear vinyl. I'd like to get more but I just simply lack the funds and space at the moment.
my CD collection, on the other hand, is pretty large. been a while since I last counted but it's def over a thousand at this point. gotta sell some of 'em off eventually. |

Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood (1st pressing)
The Chariot - One Wing (pink, /500)
August Burns Red - Rescue & Restore (/500; I know, I wouldn't've thought so, but apparently this pressing's been going for over $100 recently)
Altar of Plagues - Teethed Glory & Injury (black /500)
Jakob - Sines (1st pressing on orange/red /200)
Jakob - Sines (impulse purchase; 2nd pressing on some cool spatter, /200)

Mitochondrion - Parasignosis (180g /500)
Moving Mountains - S/T (translucent green /275)

Panopticon - Social Disservices (black /150)
Switchfoot - The Beautiful Letdown (blue 180g /1000)
This Will Destroy You - Another Language (blue /500)

02.24.16 | Nice Titan, cassette number is solid, I have about 100 now, mostly badly recorded Dead shows, in the cassette heyday maybe 150 metal and classic rock, the first cassette I bought is I think IM Killers, I think a close second was QR Metal Health, most got stolen out of my 85 Mazda 626 at college

didn't notice the "best" part so here goes...
John Cale - New York in the 1960s (5xLP box set in wood, released in 2004, goes for $170 at the most)
Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante (original US WB issue w/ Platypus 7")
The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat (original 1968 Canadian press)
This Heat - Deceit (original 1981 UK press on Rough Trade)
The United States of America - s/t (1968 test pressing that is a different mix than what was eventually released, drums and electronics are more upfront than on the final product)
David Bowie - Outside (2xLP 2015 Friday Music reissue on white vinyl, nothing all too special but the price skyrocketed after Bowie's passing though it was already expensive - got it as a gift however)
Wild Man Fischer - An Evening with Wild Man Fischer (original 1969 press on Bizarre)
Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar (2006 pic disc, still confused why I have this tbh)
Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World (2005 press on purple vinyl)
Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue (2006 press on Robotic Empire)
Iggy Pop - Lust for Life (1977 RCA US press, dunno why but people pay good money for a solid copy)
The Mothers of Invention - Uncle Meat (first press on Bizarre complete with booklet)
The Mothers of Invention - Absolutely Free and Freak Out! (both are first press mono on Verve)
Swans - Cop (original UK press on K.422)
Nico - Desertshore (1982 Greek reissue, but in pristine condition)
Snakefinger - Live at Melbourne (/300, screen-printed fourth side, sells for a hundred tops) |
