| Favorite 5 2015
I'll be the first to admit, I hadn't really been keeping up with new music last year. I think I spent most of 2015 playing The National on repeat (It's been a rough 12 months). Having said that, these are the few albums I've noticed that I really liked. In no particular order. | 1 | | John Grant Grey Tickles, Black Pressure
I liked Grant's last release, 'Pale Green Ghosts', and was pleased to find the American-Iclandic expat's latest offering just as quirky and offbeat. If you enjoy the Magnetic Fields, I'd say you'd be in for a treat with Mr. Grant.
Favorite Track: Disappointing | 2 | | Foals What Went Down
From the headbanging opening track, I knew I was hooked.
Favorite Track(s): What Went Down, Birch Tree, Snake Oil | 3 | | Blur The Magic Whip
A more mature sound from the Brit-pop quartet. Albarn's Gorillaz days bleeds through, in perfect partnership with Coxon's guitar shreds.
Favorite Track: Go Out | 4 | | Sleater-Kinney No Cities to Love
I'll admit, this is the first album by Carrie Brownstein's Seattle group that I've ever listened to. Having said that, it is a thrashing wave of sound and grrrl fury that blows me away completely.
Favorite Track: A New Age | 5 | | Everything Everything Get To Heaven
Hands down my favorite album of the year, I even made space for it on my list of favorite albums of all time (Sorry, Sly and the Family Stone's 'Stand!', you're off the list). Everything I'd expected as a followup from 2013's 'Arc' and more. Listen to it, if you don't mind.
