King Diamond RANKED

The Spider's Lullabye

Shitty, plastic production. Even the Larocque remaster couldn't save it. King's weakest by a mile.
11King Diamond
Voodoo

Good tracks, but the least exciting KD album... Voodoo is the standout with shredding from Dimebag Darrel. On this album story seems to have bigger priority than music.

Fatal Portrait

An album struggling to find his own sound, and it shows. Production is demo-level. Has the live favourite Halloween.

The Eye

Drum machines plague this album; Mickey Dee is a huge loss to the band. Could have been so much better with the right production value and band members.

The Puppet Master

Very exciting album from matured musicians, some experimentation with different sounds and song structure. The first time King put his higher register on the back in favor of harmony.

Give Me Your Soul...Please

King's last album was very mature, professional and with cristal clear production. Creepy story on the style of Abigail. This is a mid-tempo album with focus on story. At first listen it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it growns with time.

Abigail II: The Revenge

King waited enough time to be sure he had a valid collection of songs to carry the name of Abigail. Drums performance here is the best since Mickey Dee's departure and Hal Patino is back on bass with incredible performance. The Storm + Mansion In Sorrow are an hell of an openning.

''Them''

Composition-wise this album is killer, his best lyrics ever, riffs abuse and insane drum fills; but production is obnoxious, it's the sharpest voice register KD ever recorded. Can be hard to hear.

House of God

Damm this album hits hard, when you listen to The Threes Have Eyes you know the band was inspired. Black Devil and Catacomb are other standouts. The album has a very distinct 00's sound.

The Graveyard

Personal favorite, first album I've heard from KD. The story is creepier than usual because it's less sobrenatural. There's lots of tempos, moods. Black Hill Sanitarium and Lucy Forever keeps chills from beginning to end. I'm Not A Stranger is a "fun" song. Even tough the band here is one of the weakest, Larocque solo's are in top form: just dig into Waiting intro to see for yourself!

Conspiracy

Clean production, some money was obviously injected by Roadrunner, but still have the wild Mickey Dee rhythm section - last album with him onboard. 8 minutes openner, the MTV hit Sleepless Nights; the only problem with this album is being too short.

Abigail

This is a beast of an album. Altough soaked in reverb, the (devillish) operatic style fits it well. Musicianship here is insane with each song having 10+ different riffs (the most basic songs are Abigail and Omens). Lyrics are the best I know on a concept album, it is good as literature, each song ends with a hook to the next "chapter" and it has so many memorable lines - even so songs works outside the story as well.
