Shemson 09.03.16	I thought about Mustaine but his vocals suit his best albums. The only time I feel them grating is on the newer or generally worse material.

Shemson 09.03.16	I'm sorry Rippa, I'm gonna really bum you out and mention how bad a lot of the lyrics are too. My favourite song is Stenian: Mount Sorrow but the lyrics make me laugh every time. Incredible music though.

Shemson 09.03.16	Yeah the concept was cool with how they named the tracks. However after a hypnotic opening to that particular track the lyrics of 'at this time of the year the skies are mostly grey and overcast' completely ruin the vibe.

Rik VII 09.03.16	there's an instrumental version of Pelagial that's actually really cool, but you can hear there's something missing. like, in the mix there's still room for vocals, they've just been cut out without any more adjustments.

DoofusWainwright 09.03.16	Vocals are usually a deal breaker for me. Anthrax sound ok musically but I don't like the vocals. Possibly Iron Maiden but I've not listened to much...cos I can't get past the vocals.

Rolling Girl 09.03.16	It's funny because I started thinking of a list like this after listening to Dark Tranquility. It fits 2 almost perfectly.
miketunneyiscool123 09.03.16	I think vocals will make or break depending on the music and the musicians themselves. It seems to have a different effect per genre. I can tolerate more extreme music with shit vocals as long as the backing musicians and the songs do their job well enough (Vektor, Vio-lence), and then other times, the vocals outweigh everything else (Halestorm).

Thalassic 09.03.16	@miketunney: yeah, I understand why some wouldn't like Vektor's vox. I think they really add to Vektor's sound though. I never minded Chuck's vox on TSoP either. Same case with Vio-Lence's vox. Many dislike them, but I think they kick ass. Dude sounds like a trigger-happy tweaker
miketunneyiscool123 09.03.16	@Thalassicvox on TSoP are probably my limit in terms of non-melodic screech and luckily do fit the music. They definitely butchered that "Painkiller" cover though. I stop the album before it every time. I like Vio-lence's vox the way I like Paul Baloff's vox on Exodus; they're awful on paper, but they fit the music like a glove and actually enhance their intense nature.
Rik VII 09.03.16	don't like the vocal performance on Collapse. especially on that part where the screams back the clean vocals. the screams are painfully nasal. it's okay for the rest of the album though, since the vocals are not the main focus of my attention when I listen to Vektor anyway.
