First Power Metal Albums
Currently owning 35 power metal albums by 11 different bands, here are the first (or only) albums I owned by those bands. European Power Metal could be said to be preferred... :D |
1 | | Avantasia Ghostlights
Introduced to me by a German friend, this is arguably the best power metal album since Blind Guardian's 2010 album At The Edge of Time. |
2 | | Blind Guardian A Night at the Opera
My first power metal album and sadly slipping in appreciation. A sense of nostalgia and And Then There Was Silence bring me back to this. |
3 | | Elvenking Heathenreel
My only Elvenking album (Wyrd will be arriving soon), this is a great debut of a relatively unique blend of folk and power metal from Italy. |
4 | | Epica The Phantom Agony
Bought after watching the DVD "We Will Take You With Us". Decent but nothing spectacular - Simone Simons' vocals were best here though. |
5 | | Gamma Ray No World Order
My second power metal album and so again it has a nostalgic feel to it. The last solid release by Gamma Ray - a shame really. |
6 | | Helloween Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I
Another my earliest acquisitions, this is a classic and is matched (and arguably outdone) by its partner Part 2. This doesn't even need to be given A Little Time to love. |
7 | | Maegi Skies Fall
Apparently unheard of in the power metal community, Oganalp Canatan's first solo outing is a solid release with some fantastic guest vocalist (Tim "Ripper" Owens & Hansi Kursch included). |
8 | | Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...)
A classic from another sub-genre of power metal, I saw Orphaned Land live supporting Blind Guardian two years ago & loved them. |
9 | | Rhapsody of Fire Symphony of Enchanted Lands
Really only bought for the song Emerald Sword, this is cheesy power metal at its cheesiest. Not greatly appreciated any longer. |
10 | | Sonata Arctica Ecliptica
The debut album by the Finnish outfit, this has plenty of great songs but a few bores too. Average adequately describes it. |
11 | | Stratovarius Episode
My first foray outside of German power metal, this has paled since it was first listened to. Still a decent album but rarely listened to. |
