Best Albums Of 2008 Thus Far

20 albums that blew me away this year
1Man Man
Rabbit Habits

This album will put you back to childhood days watching saturday morning cartoons
2 Lil Wayne
Tha Carter 3

Best rap album since Jay-z's the Black Album. The most interesting track, Phone Home, is a progressive rap song that creeps up on the listener guiding them to feel like they're watching the new horror flick! creepy, dark, progressive, i love it.
3Panic at the Disco
Pretty. Odd.

The critics hit the nail on the head; Panic's latest effort is a modern day Beatles sounding record consisting of the highest quality of pop
4Frightened Rabbit
The Midnight Organ Fight

Fantastic Folk album. The lyrics are a bit coarse but powerful and poetic. The vocalist sounds very much like Glen from The Frames and movie, Once.
5Coldplay
VIva la Vida

Really solid album. Far surpasses its predecessor. Strawberry Swing is one of my favorite tracks of the year.
6The Sound of Animals Fighting
The Ocean and the Sun

Imo, very important band to music. They transcend the "scene" music into something more than just fury and passion. They virtually bridge the gap between Indie and Post-Hardcore/Experimental.
7Los Campesions!
Hold on Now, Youngster...

Can't put my finger on why I love this band so much. Love the male/female dual vocalists.
8 Sigur Ros
með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

Easily the lightest most optimistic Sigur Ros album. Track 2, Inní mér syngur vitleysingur, is so incredibly structured it grips me more than most movies. It's so incredibly beautiful it has near driven me to tears multiple times.
9Wolf Parade
At Mount Zoomer

Great band. I liked Queen Mary better, but this is a strong album. Spencer Krug is one of my favorite musicians
10Thrice
The Alchemy Index Vols. III and IV...

One of the bands I grew up on. Dustin is great.
11Slipknot
All Hope is Gone

This album will probably (definitely lol) sink down my list. I just want to honor these men (being popular a popular metal band) for putting out an album that's actually good and well-thought out; but not only that, they aren't trying to get more listeners like one could have thought about A7X's new album (they are copying Metallica's career. it's annoying and they're not as good). Another reason it may jump up or down is b/c it just leaked recently.
12Crystal Castles
Crystal Castles

Great electronic record.
13My Morning Jacket
Evil Urges

Not as solid as I would've hoped but some great songs. I'm Amazed could be my favorite single of the year and the title track is truly inspiring.
14Beck
Modern Guilt

Great effort from a great artist. Well-done
15Death Cab For Cutie
Narrow Stairs

Not their best record (transatlanticism holds that throne), however their crowning achievement as a band
16Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

Listen to this alone in the dark at night in bed for full effect. Great record. Beautiful in its darkness
17The Dodos
Visiter

Really good album. My friend wrote a review for this on sputnik but it mysteriously disappeared...
18The Hold Steady
Stay Positive

Great record just not really my style.
19Ratatat
LP3

Really really solid instrumental band. Definitely worth checking out if u can tolerate no lyrics
20 Future Record Dedication
rawr

Just wanted to mention some records I'm amped for.
UnderOATH, Portugal. the Man, All-American Rejects, Gaslight Anthem, Dartz!
