EP's of the year 2016

Before jumping into the album of the year-list, which is looking really hard to make right now with all the formidable releases from the year, i'm gonna start with my favorite EP's from the abomination of a year that 2016 was.
1LANY
kinda

(Electronic/Pop/Indie)
80's inspired yet wholly modern pop. I really like these guys, their sound is on the verge of being just a little too saccharine for me, but they manage to stay on the right side of the line.

Favorite track: Pink Skies
2The Japanese House
Swim Against the Tide

(Pop/Indie/Electronic)
Yet another example of great pop music in 2016. I personally think that this is the weakest release that she's made, but it still has one of her absolute best songs on it (Face Like Thunder).
I really like the vocal effects that she uses, i think it's a combination of both real harmonies but also some sort of Imogen Heap-ish harmonizer too.

Favorite track: Face Like Thunder
3 Azekel
Raw, Vol. 2

(Alt. R&B)
So, this fella seems to be highly underrated on sputnik.
UK R&B with a very unique sound. Or unique might be the wrong word, but he has a sound that I think is hard to compare to anyone, despite sounding very familiar.
Sort of comparable to a darker version (musically speaking...) of Frank Ocean, more electronic backdrop compared to the more organic sound that Frank usually has. It does sound very british though, in a good way. A bit more melancholic than R&B from the US is, but not as dark as the more "depraved" sound The Weeknd has, somewhere in between there maybe.

Favorite track: Linger
4Bladee and Thaiboy Digital
AvP

(Cloud/Sadboy/Rap/Something)
This was the first year that I actually got into Yung Lean and Bladee and other artists of the same ilk, after actually really disliking the whole thing. But I just can't ignore them anymore. The beats on this are fucking amazing. The autotune is still a bit too much (and this is coming from someone who actually likes autotune), but it does add a bit to the cold and futuristic sound, somehow making the music more emotional despite stripping away a bit of the humanity in the songs.
The only dud on this EP in my opinion is "Brokeboy (Feat. Ecco2k)", which is way too samey, and the main vocal hook sounds like they're singing "I have fucked with David Spade", but in actuality it's "I don't fuck with disrespect", the other parts besides that are good though, but it's such an annoying hook.

Favorite track: Painkillers. Or possibly Still In Search For Sunshine.
5Yung Lean
Frost God

Basically see most of the points i'm making on the bladee/thaiboy EP.
He has definitely grown as both a rapper and a lyricist, even though he's not exactly the best in the game.
But I used to not be able to take him seriously WHATSOEVER, but he has improved his pronunciation and his flow feels like it actually flows hahah. The beats are on point as always.

Favorite track: Hennessy & Sailor Moon (feat. Bladee)

I will add more as I think of more, but other EP's that i can think of now are:

Frenship - Truce
Gundelach - S/T
MUNA - Loudspeaker
SIBA - My Life With Jessie, My Friends and the Rest of the World
The World Is A Beautiful Place - both their singles tbh. sure, not EP's technically speaking but...

MORE TO BE ADDED SOON
