02.24.17 | general advice: use your brain
thank me later |
Satellite
02.24.17 | just remember that it doesn't really matter. i'm 30 years old and have a good job without ever taking anything higher than college algebra. you're not going to use calculus irl unless you're an engineer or working for nasa. so just try to eke your way by and do a good enough job to graduate and get accepted to a state university.
high school is a time for trying to get laid and experimenting w/ drugs. don't sweat the math. |
Trebor.
02.24.17 | yeah man I finished through calc and didn't get laid so do the opposite of that |
Conmaniac
02.24.17 | thats college Sat
do well in hs so you can go to a semi dec college then fuck around with drugs n shit is my advice |
Satellite
02.24.17 | it's not hard to get accepted to a semi-decent college. i stand by my "eke your way by" remark. and drugs and math aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.
i also fully acknowledge that my advice is shoddy at best. just trying to offer a different perspective than the tired boilerplate guidance counselor horseshit that they pump through your ears at that age. |
DamnVanne
02.24.17 | If you're attending an American public school, I suggest turning to more competent educators on YouTube. I'm sure online resources are leagues better than the 1 hour a day lecture you probably receive |
Trebor.
02.24.17 | If you're at all smart you can not study and still get As/Bs and then nail the SAT/ACT and be set |
SteveOffProbation
02.24.17 | drop out high school isn't worth it |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | im trying to barely pass thru my math course because i have a strict parent and that's just what i have to do. it just feels so inconsequential and unnecessary so i cannot bother to invest time into it. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | @Dreamgazing, I'm gonna say that math is not meant to be easy for anyone tbh. I'm pretty good at math, I can see that people struggle because of some incompetent teachers. Go invest some time in Khanacademy, that shit helps. |
voltairesangryglove
02.24.17 | user Aberf is a good case for allowing bullying in schools |
Aberf
02.24.17 | Nah, that thing is just some banter. Don't take it too seriously ;) |

02.24.17 | very believable totally doesn't look fake |
SteakByrnes
02.24.17 | Calc 1 is pretty easy stuff to be honest, Calc 2 is a bit harder but if you actually pay attention and do homework you should be fine. Didn't take Calc until college and got an A in both classes.
Discrete Math tho, that shit will fuck you up if you don't know how to do proofs |

02.24.17 | i started taking advanced courses in 7th grade and was managing it pretty well but at some point i realized how unimportant these classes felt to me. i used to be all–a honor roll and all that but it doesn't really matter. math specifically i can blame on my incompetence and a lousy teacher. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | @Dream All-A honor roll will give you an enormous advantage to get into a good college. You don't need to have perfect grades in just about everything. Just be consistent with your grades. These advanced classes will give you so much free time in the Univ(if you take the AP test and pass with 4-5 ofc). Since you don't need to take the same classes again in Uni. And as I said, if you got a lousy teacher, invest some times in Khan Academy. Whoever runs that site is such a marvelous and competent human being
@voltairesangryglove, you sounded so desperate to make me look bad. No one gives a shit. That's probably what happened when you get bullied at school. |

02.24.17 | What does your wife say after you cum inside her?

dreamgazing
02.24.17 | so basically at least pass the advanced courses so i dont get fucked over in collegeuni |
voltairesangryglove
02.24.17 | yes because she's blind and paralyzed from the neck down |
Aberf
02.24.17 | You are mistaking blind and paralyzed with 'dutch'. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | @Dream pass the AP test if possible. Nonetheless, advanced courses would be your practice to make yourself getting used to the workload that collegeuni gives. Seriously man, you have the chances to be successful especially starting from where you at, take them all.
You'll miss every chances that you don't take. |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | it's just complicated rn. im too caught up in 1. personal issues and 2. personal ambitions and its all intertwining. i have had *some* mental problem for the last few weeks, a sort of hyperactivity not externally but mentally. whenever i am not focused in school work during the day, my mind is jumping from thought to thought, making connections, trying to keep itself organized. whether itd be music ive put off hearing or shit i wanna research, my mind is in a constant race of trying to remember and catalogue it up. sometimes it's even just dumb jokes that i make with friends that i'm trying to remember because they feel important or some trivial aspect of my childhood and i get worked up if i cannot remember these things. it's almost like a fear of forgetting and its hard not to give in. |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | this is distracting me from day to day life pretty much every single minute of the week and it's just too much, often makes me feel physically sick or dizzy. |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | everyones advice is real good tho despite i find myself gravitating to satellites advice the strongest, i have other ideas and ambitions to worry about over math classes. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | 1. Personal issues: DON'T STAY SILENT.. That's my first advice. If you have trustworthy people, talk to them. Ask for an advice. Having personal issues without someone to talk to will kill you slowly.
2. I can relate to that; I ACTUALLY am experiencing the same kind of distraction. The best way to fight against it is to meditate.
My advice for this is to put away all of your devices, be it phone, laptop, or tv. Just try to be alone with your thoughts. Even better if you're doing this with some physical activities like jogging outside or running on the treadmill.
Your brain is overstuffed by stimulants that is given to fight your slightest bit of boredom. How often do you just randomly check your phone everyday? Exactly, it's just too many times.
So yeah, just stay away from that stimulants and start appreciating your thoughts by being alone. Too much stimulants could be harmful and makes you unable to focus. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | "everyones advice is real good tho despite i find myself gravitating to satellites advice the strongest, i have other ideas and ambitions to worry about over math classes."
So what are your ambitions exactly? I mean, what do you even want to do in college? At life? |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | it just kinda feels like im already to deep in into my consumerist frenzy. like, i have screenshots of idk thousands of albums to check out in my phone, it feels natural to do this but its rlly a heavy weight on my shoulder; it upsets me that it feels like i don't have the time to filter through these as necessary as it feels. its an odd complex, it feels important and its hard to ignore. i don't know if anyone relates to this, for me it's just like trying to soak in the culture and diversity of music. |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | i've developed some degree of ability in the arts more than anything. i've played piano since i was five, i bought an acoustic and electric guitar in the last year and i'm not doing too bad. beyond that, i write poetry and i've gravitated towards writing in the last year over music and visual arts which is what three of my brothers have followed; two of them run a clothing line and also a street art collective, the other is a freelance graphic designer. lately i've been projecting ideas for some prose writing, and i'm slowly conceptualizing this novel in my head and on paper, and it feels like it could be something. i gravitate towards art because it is all ive really bothered with. |
Aberf
02.24.17 | You can't just simply do that for the rest of your life can't you?
Don't you want to do anything else in your life?
What I'm trying to say is, don't indulge yourself in that type of lifestyle. At least, you have to make that as your motivation. Get a good job, especially the one that you'd enjoy and support your lifestyle, and you can continue your main ambitions. |
dreamgazing
02.24.17 | in college i might just settle for music engineering OR psychology ~ psychiatry |
Aberf
02.25.17 | Ah, I forgot to respond to that one.
Just try to make up your mind and try to focus on either one of those. A sudden change of heart later on will be much harder to manage than having it earlier. |

TheSpaceMan
04.06.17 | Calc is dope af [2]
It's easily one of the most well rounded courses you'll ever take in terms of difficulty, intererst, applicability and conceptuality |
dreamgazing
04.06.17 | 'in terms of applicability'
pfft |
SteveOffProbation
04.06.17 | yea like if you're actually smart unlike me calc is GOLD |
TheSpaceMan
04.06.17 | Why the scoff gaze? If you're implying it's not applicable, you're wrong. If you're saying you don't care than yeah all power to ya
Also precalc is an algebra+trig course, not a calc course |
dreamgazing
04.06.17 | it's not relevant to my personal ambitions, ii really regret taking advanced math classes tbh |
Dewinged
04.06.17 | Dude, unless you want to spend your life in front of a computer programming like a bitch while you lose hair and your belly expands avoid maths AT ALL COST. Get into literature, history, languages, that's what I'm talking about. |
SteveOffProbation
04.06.17 | you are clueless and 14 LMAO |

Dewinged
04.06.17 | Dudes I'm 39, believe me, I walked that path. I wanted to study biology, all that shit, the second years of maths I wanted to kill myself while my pals studied literature, smoked pot and played in a band. If you want to become smth that u need maths for then by all means, go for it m8, but if you are insecure AVOID MATHS AT ALL COST. |
dreamgazing
04.06.17 | personally I'm just diverging to the arts so Imma ditch math for the most part |
Dewinged
04.06.17 | See bitches? took 2 comments. |
HarshNoiseHenry
04.06.17 | But pre-calc isn't college level?
Plus there's no option to not go onto honors or AP next year, so you either have to do that or not take any more math classes. At least at my school. Stick with what the heart desires fam.
Newsflash: dewinged is 14 and clueless. |
TheSpaceMan
04.06.17 | You can smoke pot and play in bands and also go for a stem degree |
TheSpaceMan
04.06.17 | Also your mistake was going for biology |
dreamgazing
04.06.17 | nah they're letting me downgrade cuz apparently i already took the required high school math classes in my district |
Dewinged
04.06.17 | C'mon biology is great, going around chasing bugs and eating plants.
Nah in all seriousness yeah I'm fucking clueless. The system has changed wildly since my time plus I studied in another country. I have no idea what you guys are studying right now tbh. |
HarshNoiseHenry
04.06.17 | @dreamgazing: o nlce.
Dewinged: biology fire ima finna study biomedical or bio engineering. |
