| Extreme Metal - 1985 - 1989 (Thrash, Death, Grind)
This list is going to be focusing on extreme metal releases between the years 1985 - 1989.
Genre wise the focus is on Thrash, Death, Grind (And of course the combinations between them).
List is not going to focus so much on the history of the genre (unless i will have the free time to do so).
Expect a short description for each band/album.
Purposes of this list:
1) Help introduce people to these genres or just remind you of some classic albums.
2) Start a conversation.
3) encourage y'all to jam RIFFS m/. | 1 | ![](images/albums/10156.jpg-thumbl) | Possessed Seven Churches
Released in - 1985
Genre - Thrash/Death
From - San Francisco, California
Possessed are hailed as one of the godfathers of the death metal genre.
Their demo called "Death Metal" pretty much invented the name for one of the heaviest forms of music to come.
"Seven Churches" is raw, relentless and won't give you a second to relax.
The album isn't varied but considering the fact that every riff on this will make you headbang like crazy i don't think it even matters m/.
A truly defining album and a must listen for death/thrash metal fans.
Line up:
Jeff Becerra - Vocals, Bass
Mike Torrao - Guitars

Mike Sus - Drums | 2 | ![](images/albums/7185.jpg-thumbl) | Kreator Pleasure to Kill
Released in - 1986
Genre - Thrash/Death
From - Essen, Germany
An album that combines thrash metal with early death metal elements, this combination makes up for a very fast and aggressive album.
The guitar solos will melt you face. the riffs will make you want to punch your mom when she tells you to turn down the volume.
admittedly i didn't like the vocals on this at first but after a few songs it really started growing on me.

Mille Petrozza - Vocals (lead) (tracks 2, 4, 6, 7, 9), Guitars

Released in - 1986
Genre - Thrash
From - Downey, CA, United States
"Obscene high tempo Thrash taken to it's logical extreme at the time. Vocals being frenzied with raspy tone of a vicious undead man going for your throat, monstrous pummelling riffs accompanied with excellent songwriting to boot in one kick ass package. However the production adds another element to the already excellent music being presented to make it a cut about, driving home the force that the riffs needs while giving off that raw and occult vibe they're going for. Don't be a puss, jam this until dawn"

"You thought Darkness Descends was the most m/ of them all? Here come Morbid Saint to put everyone to fucking shame and raise the bar for how vicious Thrash can be. Riff craftwork being top tier just as the former album in question, but going in an even more vicious with harsher production and more emphasis on double bass pedals. Solos screeching while the drums pummel you to submission, tremolo riffs which sound inspired and occasionally get scarily fast and bouncy in sudden moments. And to top it all off...you have a vocalist who sounds exactly like the charming bloke on the cover. What's not to love? Get it"
