| Share Some Singles Vol. 2: Submission Thread
Hey guys! The time has come again for you guys to send over some tracks you want to be in the next Share Some Singles. You all did a great job last time; we got a lot of singles with quite a bit of variety, a quality I appreciate a lot from what the series has been. | 1 | | Lorde Melodrama
Here are the rules when it comes to the submissions again, with a few tweaks:
* The SINGLE must be released in 2017, the more recent the better
* A decently in-depth description of your submission will be required this time around
* A link to an easily accessible stream of the song | 2 | | SZA Ctrl
I will be accepting submissions until late Thursday, so make sure to get those in on time! | 3 | | Brockhampton Saturation | 4 | | The Roots Do You Want More?!!!??! | 5 | | Perfume Genius No Shape | |

06.20.17 | 22 - Narra
Former members of Marietta formed this 4-piece emo band and although they are a much different breed than their past selves, they still bring the jams. 22 is an upbeat, lighthearted punk-influenced single off their debut record and it hits on all the feelings that come with growing up into the "adult" life.

EDIT: the demo version was released in dec 2016 but it was officially released in late May so hopefully it still counts | ZombieToyDuck
06.20.17 | McCafferty-Trailer Trash
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhvZzqOBfzM
A spastic and energetic outing from Ohio post hardcore/pop punk outfit McCafferty. The looping folk punk riff and the vocals here are reminiscent of their most similar contemporary, The Front Bottoms. However, McCafferty do well to separate themselves in sound with the addition of electric guitar riffs which overlap the folky riff and sound like something Thomas Erak could write on a Fall of Troy record. The manic instrumentation is contrasted with a generally apathetic vocal delivery and the occasional angsty outburst. The track is poppy, sloppy and catchy and definitely bodes well as a single.

06.20.17 | Abronca - Chegando De Assalto
When thinking about abrasive and aggressive Hip-Hop, one usually imagines some 90s gangstas, innit? Well, there is a trio of Brazillian ladies that would like to flip you off first, but then also convince you they are just as capable of delivering raw in-your-face hip-hop harshness.

Kirin J. Callinan - Bravado
From aggressive ladies to softhearted men. This fun and profoundly beautiful track is soaked through with Kirin's flamboyant and colourful personality. It is sweet, but also emotional. It is easy-listening, but also complexely written. It is a great Pop song, but challenging one as well.

Algiers - The Underside of Power
How can one sing about heavy political topics with this kind of fun, upbeat and insanely catchy attitude? And although this Industrial/Gospel/Post-Punk band does make the atmosphere of the song quite sour, mostly thanks to the magnetic vocals, the playing and the songwriting simply make you want to dance...and also think about world politics (oddly enough).

Kamasi Washington - Truth
It is known that whatever Kamasi touches becomes gold. He states his presence clear with his possibly most joyous and life-loving 14 minutes long beast of a track. Be it the song's instantly memorable music, heartwrenchingly bittersweet atmosphere or ridiculously detailed and beautiful instrumental play, this might very well be Kamasi's most accessible, but also rewarding work so far. If you have sinned by not listening to this new age Jazz master's work yet, you can repent your wrongdoing by starting with this. Praise the light, love the life, that is the Truth.

Cold War Kids - Love is Mystical
Whilst still discussing joyous music, one cannot simply leave out these west coast happiness missionaries. Love is indeed mystical. It is also surreal and will make you the happiest fool in the world. And it is nearly impossible to find an audiorepresentation of that feeling more fitting than this track by one of America's most consistently positive Piano-Pop-Rock bands with some of the best vocals on a song of this genre you might ever hear.
I also put it here, because butcherboy hates it and I am determined on turning him into CWK lover.

06.20.17 | The Menzingers - After the Party
Still on topic of love, but from its darker and more bitter side. You see, when you love someone you can't just rely on the feeling itself. You need to overcome a myriad of difficulties and challenges to stay together. You shouldn't rely on the feeling alone, you should rely on the on, to whom you feel what you feel, because together you can do great things. And that is where the Menzingers come in with their raw and moving brand of Emo Punk and a brutally real look at love and admiration of your significant other on a level you can't feel towards anybody else. With this messaging I might just as well be thinking about the music video, which deserves a septilion praises in in of itself. Either way, After the Party is an oddly beautiful and down-to-earth acknowledgement of reality of one's relationship towards someone else. Profound on a whole other level.

Brutus - All Along
While we're on this streak towards heavier sound, I have to acknowledge the greatness and the power of this Belgian Post-Hardcore band. And although the lyrics don't exactly reveal a straight narrative, its music definitely does uncover some raw and raging emotions. It is a fantastic song, from its Metalcore and even Black Metal infused instrumentation, through its gripping and crushing atmosphere to its engrossing vocals. It is a strange uprise Belgian female-fronted Post-Hardcore scene is taking recently, but if the results will be as electrifying as this, I'm all in.

White Ward - Stillborn Knowledge
And now we've come to the heaviest of them all. There is only as much you can do to reinvent the already near-perfectionist genre of Black Metal. But White Ward managed what no other band even attempted. Their main tool of indentity and musical virtuosity is a saxophone. Imagine all the epic atmospheric Black Metal songs you've ever heard. Now take their usual formulaic sound and set it into, say, vampiric setting of late 18th century Europe. That is what Stillborn Knowledge reminds me of. Atmosphere like you've never heard it before.

06.20.17 | Thanks man, but I did include that Algiers song in the last Share Some Singles, so I'll have to leave that one out.
Another thing of note, since these submissions will be organized alphabetically, connecting them together like with "Still on topic of love..." and "While we're on this streak towards heavier sound..." won't make sense to the reader. Do you think you could tweak the blurb to make them stand out a bit more as independent pieces? | Papa Universe
06.20.17 | Dark Model - Survivors
To me personally, Electronica never really stood for anything significant. I always viewed it as merely a tool to get to where you need, never as a standalone, fully engaging genre that I could tune in and jam. And although Dark Model doesn't exactly make me rethink my stance, it certainly shows me just how much more one can accomplish within the boundaries of the genre. This is a dictionary definition of 'overwhelming'. I said it in my monthly roundup already, but I will say it again, because I stand by it: This sounds like Hans Zimmer collaboratin with Two Steps From Hell.

The Magnetic Fields - '83 Foxx and I
It is hard picking just one single off of this eclectic collection of profoundness. But I decided to go with the one that first made me truly believe in this project. Foxx and I is a beautiful confession of eternaly admiration for your idol. Its fusion of synths and dramatic acoustic guitar makes up for some damn lovely Singer-Songwriting-ish music.

Echo and the Bunnymen - Nothing Lasts Forever
As my last recommendation I thought I'd delve into some classic, but one that is usually left rather forgotten. Given the band's status and my personal deep love for their first tetrad of records. And even though their later work has fallen either out of others' radar or taste, there is a gutload of brilliant material to be found there. Nämlich, this dusty diamond of musical beauty and lyrical melancholy. Nothing Lasts Forever is EatB musically remembering the good old days, while unfortunately refusing to move on and progress beyond the past standards. It is sad that this kind of beauty is mostly forgotten, but it is here now for your enjoyment, so please do just that.

06.20.17 | @wtferrothorn: May I then direct your attention towards an equally as vibrant and moving single from the very same band, titled Cleveland. Though it is not as dancy, it is just as eerie in its core nature and maybe even more astonishing in its mixture of influences. | wtferrothorn
06.20.17 | Ok, but could you write a new segment for it, keeping in mind the suggestions I left in the comment above. Also, this is for recent singles, so that Echo song can't be included. | Papa Universe
06.20.17 | Oh, goodness, how could I forget?
HMLTD - To the Door
An instantly memorably dancy Pop extravaganza with some of the oddest musical shifts and transitions you'll ever hear. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the band as of yet has not released a record of any kind, they do not possess a profile on our beloved musical 'satellite playground'.

Everything Everything - Can't Do
From eccentric to the more straightforward, in come Everything Everything, whose style of catchy and upbeat Pop can't possibly not resonate with everyone.

06.20.17 | Rewriting the Algiers rec:
Algiers - Cleveland
An equally as vibrant and moving as the band has ever been. Though it is not as dancy, Cleveland is much more eerie in its core nature and maybe even more astonishing in its mixture of influences than anything in Post-Punk in general. I mean, you have your Industrial, you have your Gospel, you have your Soul and you have your Goth. It is a full package with gorgeous vocals on top of it all.

06.21.17 | The Clientele - Lunar Days
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP_gLrFPWXA
This year marks the Clientele's 20th anniversary, but you would never have guessed listening to the new single off their upcoming record. As if it were plucked straight from the band's early years, Lunay Days is a song fans of the group are well-acquainted with. The airy vocals, the jangly guitar, the sharp poppy hooks; it's all here. And for those not yet acquainted with the band, you've got a perfect example of their sound right here. If this song is representative of things to come, we'll be in for a real treat this autumn.

06.21.17 | This thread is getting deader and deader, so I'll just leave some more singles out here:
Big Walnuts Yonder - Sponge Bath
There is only as much music out there that can be described with one single word 'cooky'. And I believe that Big Walnuts Yonder outdid themselves with this profoundly odd track that is mixing traditional hard-hitting Indie with a distorted and earpiercing Lo-Fi production that is so often stricken of its glory nowadays in the blandest way possible. Well, BWY are determined to bring the genre its former insane nature.
http://www.stereogum.com/1930910/big-walnuts-yonder-sponge-bath/premiere/
Succumb - Survival
Brutality, harshness and an absolutely dismal hell. That is how one could describe this track (and Succumb's entire self-titled debut). It's truly a ruthless track that is full of engrossing and gross-out moments. It's perfect for those, who seek Metal music that is more than formulaic atmosphere chasers, but rather more of a obscurity benders.

06.22.17 | Bump! | Papa Universe
06.22.17 | The Afghan Whigs - Demon in Profile
Spooky is not necessarily the word Art-Rock bands have tried to near to. But as usual, Afghan Whigs are there for you to show you a whole new spectrum of virtuoso and musically eerie, yet somehow overwhelmingly triumphant songwriting and instrumental finesse. Here they ome again, at it years later, still kickin' solid with their brand of coarse and ruthless Post-Punk-infused Rock that surely no other artist is able to even come close to.

07.01.17 | Gonna bump this one more time, this one is going up a bit later due to the site acting up lately |
