Some Of My Favourite Albums (in No Particular Order)

These are just album that I've never really stopped liking, there's a load of albums I'd put on a ''second tier'' of my favourites but these albums here are close to immovable.
1Brand New
The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me

I already liked this band due to their first two relases, so when this came out, I really liked the fact that they didn't stand still, and managed to redefin their sound whilst maintaining their quality..the jumps between their three studio albums basically mean that my anticipation for what they'll do on their next album is high, but I have a feelign ti won't dissapoint.
2Brand New
Deja Entendu

Although not quite as good as their lastest release, this is the album that really made them my favourite band, and when you're talking about all itme favourite albums setimentality is bound to play a part. The songs are all very good, and I think there's a sophistication to some of the later songs on the album that's overlooked by many because of the genre Brand New fidn themselves pigeonholed into.
3Red Hot Chili Peppers
Californication

Yeah, this is awesome. One of the first albums I truly listened to, and it's still quality. The guitar work on here is top notch, and proves that John really is an irreplaceable part of the RHCP machine, and overall the mix of the gentler, slwoer songs such as ''Californication'' with the slightly old school vibe of songs like ''Purple Stain'' make this album one of my favourites.
4Red Hot Chili Peppers
BloodSugarSexMagik

I got into this album after hearing By The Way and Californication and to be honest it is at least equal to if not better than those two albums, with high enegry songs like ''Suck My Kiss'' showcasing a more immature, and quite frankly a more badass side of RHCP that I hadn't really heard before. If ''Californication'' is an album you'd listen to when chilling out after a night out, this album is the one you'd listen to to psych yourself up beforehand.
5Neutral Milk Hotel
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

I first listened to this due to Jesse Lacey, the singer of Brand New, reccomending it in Kerrang! of all places. It's actually an amazing album, and just exudes emotion. The lyrics are strange and poetic, and with the marhcing band etc adding an ''otherworldly'' elemnt to it, it sidesteps the typical ''sinegr-songwriter'' man and his acoustic guitar-type vibe. Another one of my top albums.
6Rage Against The Machine
Rage Against The Machine

Everyone knows abotu this album, and it's just quality rap/metal, which, save for the existence of this band, would surely be an oxymoron...The songs are all high energy slices of fury, and makes for another quality album. Their later albums are still very good and ''Evil Empire'' probably falls into my ''second tier'', but I beieve here in their debut was when they were at the top of their game.
7The Smiths
The Queen Is Dead

Finally, a British band on the list! I got into these guys kinda late, but I could tell from just a couple of listens that this was a sure fire classic. Again, the emotion shown here is a key reason as to why I like it I think, ''I Know It's Over'' being a prime example of the kind of intospection Morrissey specialises in. The jangly guitars from Marr are of course another highlight of the album, adding a somewhat uplifting elemtn to many of the songs that means this album in some ways suits all moods, and sits comfortably alongside my other favourite albums.
8At The Drive-In
Relationship of Command

At first I thought this was pretty simialr to Rage, except with a different vocalist, but as I listened to it mroe I realised that At The Drive-In were a different beast all together, however the sheer energy is a common link with Rage Agains tthe Machine, and probably another reason why I like this album so much. When ATDI do step it down a gear (eg. ''Invalid Litter Dept.''), I feel they pull it of even betetr than RATM, and as such this is a very well rounded album deserving of a place in my favourite albums.
