| Underappreciated Metalcore Early 00s
So I've finally got around to doing this....I've restricted myself for 5 albums per year, and all of them had to be mostly unknown and underground records, there are some exceptions that are explained in the descriptions.
The term ''metalcore'' is used very openly, so this list is basically stuff that I find interesting, yet I still think it belongs under the term.
The list is mostly filled with mathcore-ish, fast, spastic and experimental side of the genre, because that is simply what I prefer. | 1 | | This Day Forward The Transient Effects of Light on Water
2000
One of those extremely emotional immature releases that came out after the release of ''The Opposite Of December'', But still pretty fun record, I might not like it as much as I used to, but I can still enjoy the musicianship, plus I really dig those high screams
Similiar artists: Poison The Well, The Killing Tree | 2 | | Undying The Whispered Lies of Angels
2000
Very metal-ish record that has great sense of melody, and often instrumentally crosses into melodeath, totally one of the more interesting records of this time
Similiar artists: Darkest Hour, Soilwork (instrumentally), Killswitch Engage | 3 | | Medulla Nocte Dying From The Inside
2000
Painfully aggressive, heavy, fast album, that crosses into some grindcore speeds here and there.
Similiar artists: Martyr AD, Nostromo | 4 | | Drowningman Rock And Roll Killing Machine
2000
Extremely ambitious Emotional Mathcore record.
This is one of the most instrumentally pleasing bands of its time
Similiar artists: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Early Botch | 5 | | Living Sacrifice The Hammering Process
2000s fave
This is one of the exceptions. While fairly known record, I think it's falsely considered ''melodeath'' while It's pretty obviously metalcore release, it has great amount of groove and melody to it, but the hardcore influence is undeniable.
If you're fan of repetitive groovy music, check this one out...It has pretty undeniable Meshuggah influence too.
Similliar artists: Demon Hunter, Meshuggah | 6 | | The End (CAN) Transfer Trachea Reverberations from Point: False Omniscient
2001
Extremely fast, dizzying, grind-y, and intense, contrast between beauty and ugliness in....14 minute long record
Similiar artists: Nostromo, Curl Up And Die | 7 | | Eighteen Visions The Best of Eighteen Visions
2001
This is what should typical metalcore sound like...energetic, instrumentally proficient, incredibly heavy and well written.
Finally well produced Eighteen Visions record
Similiar artists: If Disembodied were converge, Bleeding through | 8 | | Candiria 300 Percent Density
2001
While I am not that much of a fan of the whole Rap metalcore thing that is happening on this record, when the band gets into their more melodic, jazzier passages they are uncomparable to anything, the beauty on this record is just flawless
Similiar artists: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Mudvayne | 9 | | All Else Failed Archetype
2001
Pure chaos
Similiar artists: This Day Forward, Drowningman | 10 | | Martyr AD The Human Condition in Twelve Fractions
2001 Fave
Intense, technical and mind-bending...might be difficult to listen all the way through
Similiar artist: Coalesce, Catharsis | 11 | | Knut Challenger
2002
Combining Elements From early mathcore bands like Botch and atmospheric sludge of Neurosis....you get Knut
Similiar artists: Will Haven, Burst | 12 | | Burnt By the Sun Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution
2002
Another record that seamlessly ranges from metalcore, mathcore to grindcore
Great tempo Changes, short songs, instrumental variety and intense vocals
Similiar artists: A life Once Lost, Number Twelve Looks Like You | 13 | | The Killing Tree The Romance of Helen Trent
2002
Dirty, raw, Uncomfortable yet so accesible, lyrically appealing and strangely emotional
Similiar artists: Poison The Well, Cancer Bats, Deadguy | 14 | | Curl Up and Die Unfortunately We're Not Robots
2002
There is something really funny about this record, it migh've not been intended that way, but to me this is almost parody record, and I love it, the extremely inaudible vocals...Four songs on the start just consisting of person screaming one word out...the overpowering double kick...just flawless
Similiar artists: I don't know...Nothing I guess | 15 | | Nostromo (CHE) Ecce Lex
2002 Fave
This is the most intense album on the list by far...
Similiar artists: The End | 16 | | Nodes of Ranvier Nodes of Ranvier
2003
Pretty much by the books metalcore...really consistent and fun
Similiar artists: Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage | 17 | | Beecher Breaking the Fourth Wall
2003
Accesible, Catchy, technical and heavy...it has everything
Similiar artists: Poison The Well, Underoath | 18 | | Keelhaul Subject To Change Without Notice
2003
Extremely unique instrumental record. Mixture of really heavy sludge and mathcore...Basically if Don Caballero was Sludge Metal band.
Similar artists: No one | 19 | | Since By Man We Sing The Body Electric
2003
This band has one of the best metalcore vocalists I've ever heard, his diversity is great and his energy and ferocity is otherworldly...plus the band tends to use some pretty cool noisy elements that I dig quite a big...other than that pretty accesible mix of hardcore with math elements
Similar artists: Botch, This day Forward | 20 | | Comity The Deus Ex-Machina As A Forgotten Genius (Andy Wa
2003 Fave
I don't even know what to consider this record, it's just really great extreme metal album...and I want people to acknowledge that this exists, so it's here...It's like very strange mix of every extreme metal genre ever...into these 10 minute atmospheric, sludgey, fast, technical, proggy, heavy intense, yet melodic...I just don't know, but I LOVE THIS

07.22.17 | Some of the Descriptions are pretty lackluster, but I wanted to do It tonight, and my brain isn't necesarilly working....I've added some ''Similiar artists'' just so you kinda get the idea of the band's sound...Hope you'll enjoy this | Papa Universe
07.22.17 | I predict a feature and if not I shall frown for a bit and resent and boycott at least two or three future features. | cylinder
07.22.17 | 18 and 22 look pretty cool
| JasonCarne
07.22.17 | Missing a bunch of good ones, but the quality of what IS here is excellent, great list. | Demon of the Fall
07.22.17 | Interesting list, didn't really dig the Candiria one myself though. | Hanusko
07.22.17 | @UniqueUniverse This really made me laugh, thanks man
@cylinder Yeah man, they are, you should check out at-least 18 it's really worth it.
@JasonCarne Thanks, I am opened for suggestions and reccs man, maybe I've heard some of 'em and I could tell you why they are not on the list
@SunlightCityDrive That is understandable, It's not everyone's cup of tea, and I can see how the record might come off as underwhelming for some people. | TheSpirit
07.22.17 | I'm not too well versed in early 00's metalcore, but Eighteen Visions is one of my favorite bands ever, so I'm happy to see the included. Either that album or Until the Ink Runs Out is my favorite from them. | MarsKid
07.22.17 | Fuck yeah Beecher m/
Red Diesel -> Ladder Theory is one of the best song stretches in metalcore | JasonCarne
07.22.17 | I totally didn't read the 5 albums per year thing, my bad. Anyway, here a bunch of the bands I was thinking of from that era:

07.23.17 | @thespirit - If you like eighteen visions, you might actually like big part of this, so check some of these bands out, hopefully you'll find something you like
@JasonCarne - yeah, I limited myself, because without that there would be like 100 albums, and it would be pain in the ass to describe :D there is like 12 bands that I havent heard anything from, so I am gonna check em out...the rest I like some of these bands, but they just didnt make the cut, Reflux, Blinding Light and taken were all like in nr.6...and some of these I didnt choose because they are pretty well known: Skycamefalling and etc....thanks for the list, defo gonna check some that O havent heard | Deez
