Six '80s Bands in Search of a Headliner

Attended the so-called "Retro Futura" tour last night at The Borgota in Atlantic City, which consisted of 6 bands who'd usually be considered supporting acts. Actually, it was a very fun night.
5Katrina and the Waves
Katrina and the Waves 1

Highlight: "Walking on Sunshine"

Actually, this was Katrina sans The Waves. She turned out to be more of a country girl than I expected. Definitely didn't suck to hear her perform "Walking on Sunshine" live.
4Paul Young
The Secret of Association

Highlight: "Every Time You Go Away"

For an all old dude, he spent a good part of his 3-song set sexing up the '80s girls in the front row. I like to believe that by the time The English Beat went on, he and Katrina were upstairs in his room making frenzied love.
3Modern English
After the Snow

Highlight: "I Melt With You"

"I Melt With You" was the second highlight of the night. I liked them enough to pick up a copy of their new album.
2Men Without Hats
Rhythm of Youth

Highlights: "The Safety Dance", "Pop Goes the World"

This is the main reason I got the ticket. If you like '80s music, why wouldn't you want to see these guys do "The Safety Dance"? It was the highlight of the night.
1Howard Jones
Human's Lib

Highlights: "What Is Love?", "New Song"

Jones was the only one given a full set. And actually, he turned out to be a worthy headliner after all.
