Songs Under 3 Minutes Rec Contest Part 2

Let's change it up for this round, I'm looking for 3 song recs under 3 minutes this round. Your average score of the three ratings I give each song will determine your final rating for the round. Same as before, your average score HAS to be above 3.5 out of 5 to make it to next round. *NO ONE CAN REC THE SAME ARTIST AND I WILL NOT INCLUDE RECS I'VE HEARD BEFORE*
1Arkona (RUS)
Goi, Rode, Goi!

***LAST ROUND WINNER: SCREAM!***
IMMUNITY FROM ELIMINATION THIS ROUND
2Trementina
Almost Reach the Sun

sixdegrees
Brilliant Noise: Pretty entertaining for something so shoegazey, I usually find myself bored but this one was had some really sweet effects on the guitar riffs and had a really enjoyable bassline. 4/5
Fever Pitch (Ultra Cindy): This is more along the lines of what I'd expect from a shoegazey rec. Vocals are pretty buried in the production and its gotta a general fuzzy feel to it. I remain sorta indifferent though. 3.2/5
Group Transport Hall (Women): Pretty nice vocal melody on this despite the rather single toned approach, also liked this lil bassline 3.6/5
AVERAGE: 3.6 (you just made the cut)
creds for giving recs from bands I havent even heard of before
3Aesop Rock
Skelethon

MyCarandMyGuitar
Homemade Mummy: A menacing beat that fuzzes in the background mixed with some warbling electronic elements, pairs well with Aesops delivery. Got a bittt repetitive at the end though with that whole "take the brain out" verse repeated. 3.6/5
Vaudville Villain (Viktor Vaughn): This has various interesting elements being pulled together a simple little drum beat with some odd electronic beats and kooky background noise. Viktor's delivery is really special and he has a great flow as he delivers line after line. 3.9/5
Minerals & Gems (Jonwayne): Creepy and odd beat paired with (yet again) a rapper who has great flow that mellows out well with the tone of the overall track. 3.7/5
Average: 3.7/5 (an overall consistent set of tracks)
4PUP
PUP

Feather
Mabu: This song is like The Fall of Troy meets Hotelier and OH MY GOD is it satisfying. 4.8/5
There, There (The Wonder Years): A really enjoyable outing with some lovely guitar melodies and superior vocal work for a pop punk band. This builds into a lovely crescendo of powerful riffs and wonderfully expressive vocals. 4/5
Rooftops (The Smith Street Band): When this track started out I would have never guessed this was The Smith Street band because his accent is almost unnoticeable but as the track continues his charming accent comes into play. To me that's one of the best part of these guys, makes them stand out a bit. Plus the general instrumentation was entertaining. The ending is so awesome too, love the energy of these guys. 4.1/5
Average: 4.3/5 (excellent bunch of recs)
5Straight Reads the Line
The Author

SteakByrnes
Pilgore: Proggy metalcore that doesnt reinvent the wheel although it ain't boring to spin by any means. This track has some excellent vocals and has some technical riffs that carry the track nicely. 3.7/5
Winter Is Coming Soon (Veil of Maya): Another that doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel BUT the breakup in the middle of this was a really nice relief from the death/prog metal tinged metalcore that encompasses the track. 3.9/5
Pull Us Out Of The Grave (The Word Alive): I can't deny my sweet spot for these metalcore recs as I always have dug metalcore. These guys I had heard but never listened to really and although this is fairly generic it has its really meritable moments instrumentally and vocally. 3.7/5
Average: 3.7/5 (metalcore recs that cater to my sweet spot for the genre)
6Insomnium
Above the Weeping World

SCREAM!
The Gale: This track had a buildup that is seldom matched with its pummeling drums that lead into swelling guitar riffs. The result is a triumphant track that is sure to pump you up. 4.2/5
Patterns in the Ivy (Opeth): Then we lead into this lovely acoustic piece from Opeth that has genuinely got me peeked to finally check this album. This is some masterful songwriting and the guitar and piano blend seamlessly. 4.4/5
No Dreams Breed in Breathless Sleep (Dissection): Loving this continuation from track to track. The piano in the one is sullen with just enough upbeat leanings to keep the track soothing yet also emanating a haunting overall vibe. 4.2/5
Average: 4.3/5 (A lovely collection of Heavy Metal/Death Metal bands showing their reserved side)
7Royal Headache

UniqueUniverse
Psychotic Episode: Pretty standard punk track with a good heap of energy. In spite of that though, I don't find this all that memorable. 3.2/5
The Devil in His Youth (Protomartyr): This one had even more energy BUT it actually had the memorability and interesting vocals that make for a much better rating. 4/5
I Wanna Die in Los Angeles (Dead to Me): Catchier and slightly poppier punk (which honestly is more my taste when it comes to punk) done very well with some really great drumming and vocals that I enjoyed quite a bit. 4.2/5
Average: 3.8 (2 great punk tunes with one not so memorable punk tune)
8Glassjaw
Worship and Tribute

DinosaurJones
Tip Your Bartender: NOT THROWING STONES AT YOU ANYYYYYMOOOORE. Love the vocals on this one and the overall energy is fucking great. Plus the RIFFS. 4.8/5
Splash (CHON): Oh shit this was a nice transition, this opens up marvelously with some incredibly technical guitar melodies. The bass grooves also meld well with the guitar without stepping their bounds ever. 4.7/5
Adrift (I the Mighty): Keeping up with the overall energetic nature of this set of tracks, this has absolutely magnificent vocals that I adore and instrumentally this is also highly enjoyable. Will definitely be checking more from these guys. 4.6/5
Average: 4.7/5 (Dino you killed it this round, seriously borderline perfect set of tracks)
9Departures
Death Touches Us, From the Moment We Begin to Love

Trebor.
Waiting: Strained hardcore vocals with touching melodic guitar riffs and and an endearing overall approach, this track really embolizes the kind of emotion I crave in a hardcore song. 4.6/5
Emancipation (Helios): Loving the guitar melodies in this one, theres something special about it. It's like time is standing still as I reflect on life and existence and I realize how in retrospect my problems aren't all that large. 4.7/5
Feather (Nujabes) : Typical for Nujabes to provide some of his best soulful piano melodies and a jazziness that sticks out amongst the hip hop world. The rap delivery is also really enjoyable and its put more as a background to the beauty of what is occuring instrumentally, which in my opinion is for the best in this case. 4.8/5
Average: 4.7/5 (Damn Trebor also killing it on this round with these great recs)
10Orchid
Chaos is Me

Le desordre, c'est moi: This ripppps holy shit I was not expecting that. Abrasive, cathartic and all at once maintaining an enjoyable overall sound. 4.2/5
Apopathodiaphulatophobie (Igorr): This shit started off sounding like it was gunna be a Primus song with its twangy funky guitar playing, until the guttural growls kicked in. The manic stop and go approach of this track is awesome and I even really enjoyed the spontaneity of those opera esque vocals. 4.6/5
Personal Space Invader (AJJ): Hadn't heard this track in a longggg ass time so I kept it in, tbh I forgot how it went. I was not dissapointed rehearing it again as I love the lyrics and the quirkiness of ajj vocal approach and the crazy acoustic guitar playing. 4.5/5
Average: 4.43/5 (another eclectric mix and I really dug this set of tracks)
11Buckethead
The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock

Laeddis
Baseball Furies: GOD the end of this thing. The solo work is fucking insane on this and its up there with one of Buckethead's best (that I've heard). 4.3/5
Well Paid Scientist (Dead Kennedys): Always loved the vocals of these guys and their charismatic energy is undeniable regardless of its rough production (which in my opinion only helps to aid it) as it is in fact a punk track. 3.9/5
Work (Gang Starr): Switching it up to hip hop for the last one, I dig that. This changes things up in a great way with some uplifting piano playing and a beat that carries the quick and harmonious flow of this rapping. 4.3/5
Average: 4.2/5 (a fairly eclectic mix done well)
12Loma Prieta
I.V.

Prancer
Fly By Night: Fuck this is extremelt thick in overall sound. The screams on this are throat ripping and intense as all hell and I love the overall melodic layering of instrumentation that is abrasive but also enjoyable. 4.4/5
Aside From the Distant Shadow, There is Nothing Left: The bass on this one is chunky and has a grungey edge to it which I am a HUGE sucker for. Not gunna repeat what I said already about this one as its obviously not going to be drastically different. 4.6/5
Biography: This track sorta blends the elements in the other two tracks and sounds probably the most accessible of the three. 4.5/5
Average: 4.5/5 (Now I HAVE to check this whole album cause these tracks rippeddd)
13Fleetwood Mac
Rumours

neekafat
Never Going Back Again: Such technical acoustic guitar much enjoyment. This also provided a much needed break from all the heavy recs I'd already gone through. This was extremely pleasant. 4.8/5
Don't Panic (Coldplay): Haha I knew I'd get a coldplay rec from you neek eventually. This I had heard before but never really FULLY tried to take it in with headphones on. This is a very lovely track and I love the guitar melodies in this. I always liked Coldplay's vocals they are highly relaxing and this was no exception. 4.6/5
50/50 (The Strokes): Changing the pace at the end here with a more standard alt rock track. 4.2/5
Average: 4.5/5 (lovely choices neek and yours were some of the most standout from the bunch so kudos for that)
14Poison the Well
The Opposite of December

dbizzles
Nerdy: Instrumentally this thing slapssss and I love the drumming on this one. PLUS you can't deny those screams of their power and energy. However I really don't like the cleans vocals on this, he sounds completely of key in a bad way. 3.7/5
The Taker (Lead Hands): I don't care for the production of the screams on this they sound fuzzy and it sounds wrong. I do however enjoy the track from a general standpoint and can't deny its overal enjoyability regardless. 3.8/5
Daughters (Pants, Meet Shit): The reminded me so much of The Number 12 Looks Like you, and I loved it. It's crazy, spastic, grindy and exhilarating. 4.4/5
Average: 4/5 (pretty solid set of tracks dood)
15Moon Hooch
The Joshua Tree

Dewinged
Sandstorm: Love the originality of the jazz rock mixture brought together here. The drums paired with the sax have way more energy then one would expect. 4.3/5
Improv: This one borderlines experimental with its grunge edge to the jazz vibe in comparison to the other one I just heard. So many interesting things in the mix and even some growls? Definitley stood out. 4.6/5
Outer Urge: Listening to this one I'm still given enough variety even with just the use of sax playing and drum work this has loads of entertainment value. 4.5/5
Average:4.5/5 (really interesting stuff gunna check the whole EP for sure)
16Circle Jerks
Group Sex

budgie
World Up My Ass: A great lil punk track with a sweet lil solo thrown in the mix 3.7/5
I Just Want Some Skank: Repetitive fun punk track thats sorta silly, love the energy of the drums on this one. 3.8/5
Beverly Hills: Not as enjoyable when they slow things down. 3.2/5
Average: 3.6/5 (sticking in there budgie)
17Coyote Legs
Head Full of Hope

Drifter
Lupus: Some rather interesting vocals on this. The overlapping vocal melodies add a lot of interest to and otherwise fairly simplistic instrumental (acoustic guitar only) but I think it works fairly well as the vocals are interesting enough in their own right 3.7/5
Making Friends and Acquaintances (Cursive): Enjoyed this one overall, good vocals, good production nice lyrics etc etc...just wasnt blown away either 3.4/5
Dog (TTNG): Now this was muchhh more impressive, some really great bass groove to this one and the guitar melodies are extremely well done. 4.2/5
Average:3.8/5 (some slightly above average tracks and one really nice one)
18The Lawrence Arms
The Greatest Story Ever Told

onionbubs
March of the Elephants: So far this competition has shown me I need to check out the god damn Lawrence Arms cause this had so much energy and was a rollercoaster of enterianment. 4.4/5
Die While We're Young (A Wilhelm Scream): THE BASS IN THAT INTRO ho ree sheet then it just rips into that fucking great riff. Passionately screamed punk vocals and just a massive amount of power in this overall that doesn't let up. This is what I look for in a punk track. Plus the solo was super satisfying, short and sweet as hell. 4.6/5
The Wolfpack #1 (demo)(Angels and Airwaves): Changing it up on the last one with a more mellow AVA track, but I've always loved tom's vocals. The electronic edge to this was actually pretty nice as well but this doesn't quite hold up to the other tracks in this set. 3.8/5
Average: 4.3/5 (Some of my favorite tracks in this set so a damn fine job bubs)
19From Ashes Rise
Nightmares

CaimanJesus
Bloodlust: Back to another super energetic hardcore track with some fucking stellar drum work hot damn. Plus the vocals on this ripppp. 4.3/5
Vägen Ur (Martyrdöd): Blacked Hardcore that starts of simple until it fucking explodes like a rocket into your eardrums. Once again some fucking great vocals that tear this track up and the way everything sorta swells into that guitar solo at the end and ends with a breakdown that keeps itself from ever being cliched. 4.2/5
Inferno (Totalt Jävla Mörker): Production on this is fuzzy but I think it works with the rather beefy riffs on this bad boy. Didn't love the screams on this one as much as the other though. 4/5
Average: 4.2/5 (Some really good hardcore shit in this set)
20Artificial Brain
Labyrinth Constellation

BlackwaterPork
Brain Transplant: Pig squeal/growl central on this track which actually works well because they are fairly one range of tone which allows the superior musicianship to be what shines here. 4.3/5
Sorcery (Rebel wizard): Really dig this despite its kinda hazy production, the riffs and drums are spectacular and the solo in the mix here is something else. 4.2/5
Beyond the Dark Sun (Wintersun): Not a big fan of the vocals on this one but does it even matter when the musicianship and songwriting is so damn energetic and tight? Not really this time. 4.1/5
Average: 4.2/5 (great stuff here not much else to say)
21Immolation
Majesty and Decay

A Token of Malice: Damn this one is fucking insane and I loved all the craziness going on here, the riffs, the solo, the ridiculous drums, the well executed screams. This was all very enjoyable. 4.3/5
And Our Hearts Did Beat (There Will Be Fireworks): Some lovely vocals and just and overall heartfelt track that I really enjoyed. 4.2/5
Abandon All Life (NAILS): I do agree that a NAILS rec is a no brainer for this kinda competition but this track rips as I expected it would. 4.5/5
Average: 4.3/5 (an awesome mix of tracks that were split up with a calmer one very approriately)
22The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Electric Ladyland

manosg
Crosstown Traffic: As is to be expected fucking stellar guitar work here but the funk of the entire track is track up amazing. Honestly loved everything about this. 4.8/5
Tales of Brave Ulysses (Cream): A great classic rock track not much else to say. 4/5
Minstrel Hall (Blackmore's Night): Loved this the guitar work is marvelous and the flute playing in the mix is so relaxing. 4.3/5
Average: 4.4/5 (seriously great pics loved that Hendrix track)
