| Albums that emotionally destroy me
a rare breed, i rarely get emotionally impacted by music but when i do, it really gets me. | 1 | | Kauan Sorni Nai
The recurring melody in this album (usually played by piano) just destroys me. The (true) incredibly sad story of the dyatlov pass incident that causes countless goosebumps and near-tear moments. | 2 | | Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
Most of the emotion here lies in the incredible story telling. The last handful of tracks fuck me up big time. | 3 | | Steven Wilson Hand. Cannot. Erase.
no description needed, obvious pick lmao. seeing the full version played live was the closest ive ever been to full out crying from music | 4 | | Steven Wilson The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)
Title track and drive home are the reasons for this being here, beautiful songs with emotional songs. | 5 | | Pain of Salvation The Perfect Element, Part 1
King of loss, used and the title track always get me. one of the best vocal performances of all time from daniel gildenlow. | 6 | | Pain of Salvation Remedy Lane
an emotional tale of a relationship falling apart, helped by daniel's incredible vocal delivery. grabs me less than perfect element, but it still really works | 7 | | Pain of Salvation Be
Iter Impius. 'Nuff said | 8 | | Devin Townsend Ocean Machine: Biomech
My favorite album of all time, the trilogy that caps off the album (not incl. the kind of hidden bonus track) is my favorite musical movement of all time, and the death of music is my all time favorite song. Completely heartbreaking. | 9 | | Fleshgod Apocalypse King
an incredible concept album full of goosebump inducing moments. most wont feel it due to it being very heavy death metal but if you look past the intensity, it is incredibly beautiful | 10 | | The Dear Hunter Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional
The climax of a six part concept album series, the last track alone destroys me, but there are plenty of other moments as well. beautiful, heartbreaking and amazing in almost every way imaginable. | 11 | | Ulver Messe I.X-VI.X
easily the darkest and most depressive album i have heard in a very long time. A hard listen due to how slow and dark it is, but syrians never fails to completely ruin any happy mood i am in | |

04.25.18 | Good picks dude, i don’t know all of them but Warning’ watching from a distance and the first 40 watt sun record ruin me for the most part when i listen to them. It does kind of suck as they’re 2 of my favourite records ever, but the impact of listening to them is always huge. | onionbubs
04.25.18 | i was like, certain this was gonna be a bunch of like emo/indie shit or Smith
wasn’t excepting prog shit | DinosaurJones
04.25.18 | obligatory:
The Antlers - Hospice | DungeonBoy
04.25.18 | Weird how music affects people differently. I would never peg half of these as emotionally destroying, and I'd save that for bands like Mount Eerie, Pianos Become the Teeth, etc. Generally albums lyrically about people's close family members dying when paired with the right music really hit me hard. | cold
04.25.18 | I had actually thought about making a very similar list as of late, lol. But yeah, I have tons of albums that wreck me emotionally, but what can get me so much more is certain songs. My best example off the top of my head is I lose all bodily functions of my tearducts when I hear "The Bed Song" from Amanda Palmer. Like, almost immediately I'm just a slobbering, sobbing mess. | JustJoe.
04.25.18 | Dino stole mine. Also:

05.06.18 | "imagine crying to devin townsend lol"
What does this comment even mean? | CaimanJesus
05.06.18 | I think it's fairly self evident | BenThatsMyJamin
05.06.18 | Yeah except it's equivalent to posting:
"imagine crying to elliott smith/[insert artist a lot of ppl find emotional] lol" | Skoop
05.06.18 | I don't usually get emotional listening to records unless there is a specific attachment or memory linked to them. That being said () or magnolia electric co or absolutely different stars are examples of pretty moving records | Skoop
05.06.18 | But I would agree that individual tracks are usually more effective to that end |
