honestly
i fully expected him to be mediocre at best but he's an incredibly sympathetic, fully realized character. the cgi work is fantastic and brolin owns. i'd put him above Killmonger ngl. |

04.28.18 | I like how Thanos's whole motivation doesn't make sense cos he could like, instantly create infinite resources for every planet and solve the problem lmao
shit movie |
Trebor.
04.28.18 | The movie is very long and messy and the ending is very gimmicky, especially considering how obvious it is that they'll spend the next movie undoing it all
Biggest problem is the movie has no story, it's just a series of Thanos trying to get each stone and then trying to stop him and failing
Most of the exposition was very clunky as well, like most of the dialogue was great, but the second they start explaining the infinity stones and shit to each other it's like please kill me
Very OK movie |
Trebor.
04.28.18 | Also I can't stand that all the villains are cartoon characters, especially juxtaposed to the Avengers who are 90% non CG, he looks ridiculous next to Gamaro, like why can't it just be Josh Brolin with purple makeup
And my god how lame Thanos' underlings are. Do they even have names? or personalities? |

04.28.18 | Yea it was good. But the weight of everything the movie worked towards, every hard hitting scene caused by thanos was alleviated with that fucking post credits scene. The post credits scene shouldve just been everyone on earth disappearing and thats it. No captain marvel crap |

04.28.18 | I liked how they ended it on a pretty morose note, even the grim Civil War tried to kind of lift your spirit in the last 10 minutes. Like most MCU films this was really good but not without its problems. It was entertaining and had really great sci-fi visuals, but the story did get repetitive and there wasn't much emotional investment or character development cause of how much happens and how fast moving it is. I agree that Thanos's motivation didn't really make sense, but despite that yea he's one of the best Marvel villains and Brolin did a fantastic job. It's a little disappointing though that they will probably just undo it all in next year's Avengers, but I'm sure it'll be good, and shit will go down since Chris Evans said it'll be his last time playing Cap. |

Oh come off it you could be like this for every movie ever made. Sure Thanos could've just used the reality stone and killed everyone rather than fighting them. He could've killed Tony after saying he'd spare him for the Time stone and probably squash any chance of the Avengers winning. He's got the time stone so surely he can see into the future now and know what Dr Strange was planning and prevent it. Jeez he could've just wiped out all the population rather than half.
But then you'd have no movie. |

Because Josh Brolin isn't 9 feet tall and jacked like Thanos.

TalonsOfFire
04.30.18 | It was excellent, very well handled given how many characters there were. They were mostly separated and all had great missions / storylines which was the right thing to do. It was the Thanos show overall, and I was impressed with how three-dimensional they made a purple alien monster, and kept his storyline interesting and compelling. I wish there was more of the main Avengers in it, but since basically everyone turned into dust at the end except for them, they'll get more screen time in the next one hopefully. |

05.01.18 | Only recent Marvel film I really enjoyed was Ragnarok, probably because it was a comedy - a 9/10
Black Panther was alright, at least a few new ideas - 7/10
This wasn't as bad as the previous 'full Marvel' one - but it wasn't all that great either 6/10
I think only three 'low importance' characters 'die for good' in it - it's another cop out
There was a brilliant death scene...but they chickened and allowed the main character to live - trying to avoid spoilers. If they'd let that character actually die I would have awarded this film an 8 so powerful that death scene would have been. Shucks Hollywood |

I feel like certain deaths are cop outs, because we already know that they have new movies with those characters coming up. Unless, of course, it's going to be a regrouping and rebranding, which actually sounds like a swell idea. Loved the ending, though. |

05.08.18 | >shit genre, if youre older than 12 and enjoy this shit i dont really know what to say to you
If you've read a single comic in your life, you'd know that's how the genre works. I thought Infinity War was more enjoyable overall than Black Panther. It was intriguing, intense, and had more weight than previous films. Thanos seems like a credible villain for once. People can believe he can and will destroy whoever's in his path in order to get to the top. Great film, one of my favorites from Marvel. |

05.08.18 | My point is that you're arguing something that doesn't matter. No one stays dead in a comic. |

DropTune
05.08.18 | How does that qualify a bad genre? |
Papa Universe
05.08.18 | perhaps he means that there are no stakes at all, when nobody of relevance can die. what's the point of giving a crap about someone, if you damn well know they're essentially indestructible.
that's why I hope, hope, hope that everyone dead in IW will never come back. |
DropTune
05.08.18 | You really need to read some comic books. You're going to be so disappointed with that thought process. |
Papa Universe
05.08.18 | so people do die then? |
DinosaurJones
05.08.18 | Just read the Walking Dead comics. So many people die that it's frustrating. "Hey, this character is pretty coo... and they're dead." "Oh, hey, I really like... oh, wait, she's dead." |
TalonsOfFire
05.08.18 | The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones came around to each subvert that trope of no one important ever dying, but they both take it a little too far at times and the pendulum swung too far in the other direction. Guitarded’s points are why I stopped reading comics a decade ago, when I eventually realized that these stories weren’t leading to any end game. Not that I think they’re all shit, but it’s true that no one ever permanently dies and the storylines are just cycles that don’t actually lead to a real resolution. However, movies are different. TDK trilogy had a real resolution, and I think the MCU will too b/c these actors aren’t gonna play these characters forever. There will be reboots, but TDK trilogy and the MCU will always be there. |
Papa Universe
05.08.18 | I reada few comics in my life, but none of them were superhero comics. I like them gritty, down-to-earth, harsh, nasty brutes like Fell, Maus and Blacksad. Or from the more goofy ones, Valerian and Asterix (yeah, I'm old, fuck off) |
DropTune
05.08.18 | I'm not saying you guys are incorrect. There are no lasting consequences in comic books. You can't really "kill off" certain characters. That fact needs to be accepted in order to fully understand how comics work. Logan, for example, separated itself by satisfying the conclusion to the Wolverine arc. He likely won't remain dead, but it did push several cinematic limits of the superhero genre. Conventions and tropes like the ones we're arguing now are always going to stay in place. Characters wont stay dead alongside no lasting consequences. |
Prancer
05.08.18 | you're watching the wrong movie if you want there to be stakes and real life consequences in Marvel films. the whole fun of it is the actions sequences and the journey/progression of the superheroes, so I guess you're either into it or not. |
DinosaurJones
05.08.18 | Yeh, I never got too into comics, but the few I have aren't superhero comics.
I really only have:
Preacher
the Walking Dead
Maus
Locke & Key (and I haven't finished that yet)
I want to get Chew and Crossed, eventually. But comics are expensive. |
DropTune
05.08.18 | I was always a sucker for Frank Miller's work. Daredevil, 300, etc. Alan Moore was another I grew up on. Watchmen, V for Vendetta, you know the drill. As far as modern comics go, Tom King is one who I really follow. I also enjoyed Sandman, Constantine, Flash, and a few others. I read too many to name. |
DropTune
05.08.18 | Chew is pretty good. I know at my local shop it's really popular. I haven't read Crossed. Saga was trendy for a little bit. Haven't seen too much come from it recently. |

05.08.18 | Granted, but I look at superhero movies like westerns. They have a formula and stick to it. It will tire over time, but that's a part of the style. Much like horror and comedy films, they have their styles. |
