This has been done: Ranking Opeth

My 2-cents. Based on current planetary position. Subject to change.
1Opeth
My Arms, Your Hearse

Has always been and will always be the best one for me. Gritty, folksy, completely lovable record. All tracks rule, I could not start picking highlights.
2Opeth
Heritage

That drumming, that jazziness, a lot of weird twists and turns, but when it clicks it does so big time. Did not like it when it came out but now it's my second favourite and has been for some time. I do not see that changing any time soon, either.
3Opeth
Ghost Reveries

Probably their most well-known style, great feels, diversity, some all-time favourite jams. First three tracks are superb and Hours of Wealth is one of my favourite Opeth-tracks.
4Opeth
Morningrise

Great one, if you're in the mood there's nothing better. Beautiful passages, nice riffing, tons of atmosphere. None of the tracks are weak.
5Opeth
Watershed

Underrated (if there is such a thing as an underrated Opeth album), nice diversity. Gets the blood pumping!
6Opeth
Deliverance

Who would have known? In recent years it kept climbing up the ranks, and now it's in 6th place? Whaaaat? Some seriously lovable jams (t/t, A Fair Judgement, Wreath), but By The Pain I See In Others just doesn't do it for me.
7Opeth
Orchid

Great one, has some of my favourite tracks (The Twilight Is My Robe, Forest Of October). Rawer and more old-skool sounding, which is obviously great.
8Opeth
Blackwater Park

Used to be my favourite, my first Opeth, but can't stand Harvest anymore and I might have overplayed the record in general. T/t is probably my favourite Opeth track though, does everything right.
9Opeth
Still Life

Ha, shocking, I know. Some absolute bangers, duh, but the others are just plain better in my opinion. Plus I've always disliked Moonlapse Vertigo and recently Face Of Melinda has started to bore me. Love the solos in White Cluster though, and The Moor and Godhead's Lament are amazing oviously. Goes to show that they just have such a great discog if this is in 9th place!
10Opeth
Pale Communion

Has a few nice jams, really love River, but sadly ditched all Heritage's awesomeness for a more generic and less jazzy approach.
11Opeth
Damnation

Never really liked this one as much as the others, almost don't listen to any of it anymore. Not a good sign. Some nice tracks, but overall slipped into 11th place.
12Opeth
Sorceress

I want to love it but I don't (yet?). A bit boring and I hate the production. Hopefully the next one will be better.
