08.02.18 | I used to spend a lot more. I’d buy like 10 records a month or so but now I’m much more poor so I barely ever purchase records. |
Drifter
08.02.18 | In the past two or so weeks I've spent about $200 I think. Half of which was spent Tuesday at a store and today on discogs. Too much. |
Flugmorph
08.02.18 | about 1k to 2k € probably |

08.02.18 | @drifter
what did you get m8?
@flug and now for realz? |
butcherboy
08.02.18 | i only buy LP's and 7"'s as wall décor nowadays.. picked up the Bowie Heroes single last week.. they're too bulky to lug around when travelling, you can download (pilfer) vinyl rips of music, and people who claim there is better listening quality in most modern records who aren't recorded with vinyl modalities are full of shit anyway.. |
SandwichBubble
08.02.18 | About $100 a month maybe
eBay! eBay! eBay all day! |
Nazzadan
08.02.18 | Somewhere in the neighborhood of $200-300 a month, mostly on LPs but I get a fair amount of digital releases I really enjoy and a CD now and then. |
RadioheadIsOverrated
08.02.18 | Little to none since we're in an age of streaming. I mean I only really buy the music I care about since I'm broke lmao. I've basically been buying 1 record a month of average. |
SandwichBubble
08.02.18 | If records were still half the price of cds, I'd probably still buy them. Walked into one of those alternative shops and they were charging crazy prices. Poor youth |
SitruK6
08.02.18 | Also another question how many of you go out to buy your music? Do you just buy online or is it a mix of both? |

08.02.18 | I never buy online |
Nazzadan
08.02.18 | @sitruk6
I mostly order online but about once a month I take a trip to my local record store about a block away to see anything new they've gotten in. |
Drifter
08.02.18 | A mix of both online and irl. I can't drive so I have to rely on people taking me which is about once every month/two months. What I buy online is mostly harder to find stuff since I won't likely find it irl. I don't typically get common things online so I don't have to pay shipping/i could just get something else less common in place of it |
Drifter
08.02.18 | My buys today and two weeks ago were online but the ones between were irl |
Sinternet
08.02.18 | a lot lower these days, got rid of at least half of my collection. maybe £20-30 a month? idk i mostly buy clothes these days instead |
Nazzadan
08.02.18 | I've actually found some good stuff for cheap going in to FYE and checking their vinyl clearance section. The people that shop in there pass up on really good releases so they end up on the clearance rack for ~$10. Last time I picked up New Bermuda for I think $9.99. |
Get Low
08.02.18 | I believe Spotify is $10.66 a month after tax in the U.S. |
Drifter
08.02.18 | Damn sint rip those lists you would make of like 100 cds you just bought were cray cray |
SitruK6
08.02.18 | @sint do you also listen to less music nowadays or is it just the money you spend on music that has gone down? |
RadioheadIsOverrated
08.02.18 | @sitruk, I used to buy online more, but now I only usually do if the record isn't available anywhere. I actually drove almost an hour the other day to get Ye. I noticed in this streaming age, many companies put little to no work into little extras in the case like there used to be. |
Sinternet
08.02.18 | i do listen to a lot less yeah, and i find myself just listening to the same stuff too mostly which means i barely listen to a lot of new stuff now. lol drifter i might do one soon actually i havent done one in like six months and deleted all the others. I still pick up like 10-15 albums a month but I cba with the expense of things like vinyl these days unless it's special |

08.02.18 | Used to spend between 50 to 100 € a month, buying mostly old cheap vinyl records; and also video games, books and films. Now, I can't afford it anymore. |

08.02.18 | haven't bought any physical releases in months now, so my spotify acc, i guess? |
bgillesp
08.03.18 | Well I came here to say "too much" but don't feel as bad seeing some of these numbers now. Its like $40 a month or so for me, except Devin Townsend is releasing a vinyl box set series (2 of 4 out so far) running $170ish a piece with overseas shipping that I can't pass up |
Devastator
08.03.18 | $10 a month on Spotify. |
Morningrise767
08.03.18 | I used to spend a lot on CDs as a teen. Now I mainly buy digital or Vinyls I really like. I'm a lot smarter with my money nowadays. I will listen to albums on Youtube/Apple music, and if I really dig it, I will buy it. Otherwise I save my money haha. |
bgillesp
08.03.18 | I don't spend money on anything other than necessities and music so I don't feel too bad about it I guess. Ive always been a collector type though so that plays into it some too |
Grimlin
08.03.18 | In the last year, I've purchased approximately 80 CDs, 10 vinyl and 3 tapes. I'll guess that's about $1000-1200 spent. The previous two years were probably triple that. I've been buying for many years, but the last 11 or so have definitely seen a rise in activity. This year is lower due to my move to a place the requires much more money to live, and no real high paying jobs. I also use money I make from selling music as well, so that helps. Though, I'm getting to the point where I have nothing I want to sell. |
TheGreatQ
08.03.18 | I usually buy 4-6 CDs a month, but I buy them from used music shops so they’re usually like .50¢ to $2 a piece. |

08.03.18 | About $200-$300 a month on CDs and downloads. That's not counting concert tickets. |
Astral Abortis
08.03.18 | I split my money weekly between games, books, and music. But it's usually $50-100 a week on one of those things. |

08.03.18 | Here in my garage, just bought this new Lamborghini here. It’s fun to drive up here in the Hollywood hills. But you know what I like more than materialistic things? Music. In fact, I’m a lot more proud of these seven new CD racks that I had to get installed to hold two thousand new CDs that I bought. It’s like the billionaire Warren Buffett says, “the more you listen, the more you earn.” |
RogueNine
08.03.18 | Monthly would probably average out close to zero. |
NorwichScene
08.03.18 | No where near what I should spend! Wasted loads when I was younger. I probably spent around £1000 a year 15 years ago to today’s roughly £60 a year
|
NorthernSkylark
08.03.18 | i spend roughly £40 a month. Mostly CD's and some vinyl now and then. Spotify of course. I probably spent double of that when i was younger. |
Demon of the Fall
08.03.18 | Recently I've been taking a break & just paying £10 for Spotify, was around £30-£40 a month which seems reasonable. The only reason I'm 'taking a break' is because I'd prematurely buy stuff I'd just discovered & it's probably best to give music a little more time to settle & see if I come back to it regularly.
Then it goes on my (imaginary) 'to buy' list, in priority order. |
SitruK6
08.03.18 | @Demon of the Fall
well for awhile i couldn't afford to buy a lot of music and so over all that time the list of albums i wanted to get just got bigger and bigger |
cold
08.03.18 | I probably spend close to $400 a month on vinyl |
Demon of the Fall
08.03.18 | now that's a lot of money, wow
@sitru: I'm slowly learning to be fussier with what I end up purchasing & no longer do I feel the need to complete discographies (which was an issue in my youth). |
bgillesp
08.03.18 | I'm always too tempted by the dollar bin discogs sellers who sell old stuff in bulk for cheap. I know Jefferson starship is amazing but for a dollar? And then there's 30 others I feel the same way about they're selling and I'm like "25 records for $40? How can I pass this up?" |
bgillesp
08.03.18 | So basically my collection is only half stuff of value or what I really like |
zakalwe
08.03.18 | Used to be around 60 quid a month now it’s itunes and possibly the odd second hand album and new release every now and again

08.05.18 | Nowadays I rarely buy music, but if I do I'll go all out and buy like 10-12 CD's at a time at my local FYE or something. 99% of the time though I just use Spot Premium for all my music needs |

08.06.18 | discogs has my record collection between 4-8.5k in usd, my speakers msrp around 1.5, receiver was 600 secondhand, psu for turntable was 400 or so, turntable 700 secondhand, 300 denon cart, 300 secondhand transformer for the denon
so basically way more than i can ever justify but w/e ill die happily listening to beautiful sounds |

08.06.18 | "Just made a massive order from dark descent m/" i love that feeling.. dark descent records is great |
