I don't see it man. The Astros pretty much ran away with the entire American League last year but this year they're barely ahead of the A's and Mariners in their own division lol. And the Indians have been fading since they lost the world series. I think they mainly seem good this year because the rest of their division is a dumpster fire. The red sox on the other hand seem to me like they have their most high powered lineup since 2007. |

08.10.18 | i think it's too early to call, gotta see who gets hot. that being said, i think any team that has a good bullpen, a couple of hot starters, and solid on base skills in their position players has a great chance at winning it all.
i'm a cubs fan, i don't think they have the starting pitching this year. everyone's been in a funk with bad peripheral stats.
the phillies bullpen seems to be a shit show.
haven't watched a ton of braves ball this year so i don't know much about how they're set up. definitely a good team though.
i could see the dodgers turning it on, the d-backs are pretty solid too.
brewers are a great team but i don't know if they have good enough starters for the playoffs. great bullpen and lineup though.

Cleveland could turn it on like they always seem to do in the latter part of the season, but their bullpen has not been good this year if i'm not mistaken.
Astros are banged up right now, obviously have great starting pitching, and a pretty good bullpen.
Yanks look lost rn but if they get hot they can be great.
Oakland has a great pen, but despite their rotation looking good, their peripherals aren't great, so that's a cause for concern. pretty solid lineup. would definitely say they're a dark horse.

If our offense gets hot outside of Freeman, Acuna and Markakis towards the end, we'll be hard to beat. Bullpen is the biggest weakness by far though. Look for us to make a run at Grandal, Harper or even Machado in the offseason. |
