08.12.18 | Outside of Yellowman, I tried finding reggae outfits that're effectively post-Marley & the Wailers. Hope to make another reggae list before Summer ends! |

08.12.18 | I just always associate the phrase “new reggae” with like vybz kartel and mavado so it threw me off |

Fort23
08.12.18 | Which is new reggae. Its like The wailers are the run dmc to vybz kartels future you feel me |
Fort23
08.12.18 | But theres reggae being made now thats like the old reggae thats just old school style reggae or they call it “roots reggae” |
Britch2tiger
08.12.18 | Fort23 - I'm prepping a list of old school reggae (70's and 80's era reggae) as well in the future. And my GOD... There are a lot of them. Just gotta sift through them later. |
Fort23
08.12.18 | Dopee thats a great era im not up on it that much |
rabidfish
08.12.18 | really? never heard of dancehall as 'new reggae'. I feel like dancehall was always a sub-genre completely distinct from other sub genres like roots, dub, ska et all. |
Fort23
08.12.18 | If you talk to like a jamaican person theyll usually just call it all reggae, i mean noone really makes ska or dub anymore |
rabidfish
08.12.18 | yea lol fair enough
|
Britch2tiger
08.12.18 | Wouldn't be so sure Fort23. Dub has two distinctions in reggae: (1) as in strong use of the specific organ sound to create that distinct "waah" sound, or (2) reggae w/ strong electronica influence (ex: Scientist, Mad Professor, Dub Syndicate, etc). |
