Best Covers Ever

I made this before and now it's time to relive it again. These are some of my favorite covers ever. If you have one in mind, please mention it and I will add it with the user name and a short writeup of the song.
1Death
The Sound of Perseverance

Painkiller

The best cover of all time. Period.
2Natalie Imbruglia
Left of the Middle

Torn

This is a great cover and most people don't realize it is a cover. She did a fantastic job here and it is one of the best songs ever to grace the radio waves.
3Type O Negative
The Origin of the Feces

Hey Pete

An homage to Jimi Hendrix. This is a great cover no doubt.
4Pantera
Far Beyond Driven

Planet Caravan

This is one of the best covers of all time and a perfect way to end a brutal album. This song means a lot to me.
5Shadows Fall
The Art of Balance

Welcome To The Machine

The amount of work put into this is scary. They were dedicated and it is amazing. Great cover.
6Dark Tranquillity
The Gallery

22 Acacia Avenue

This cover kicks so much ass Iron Maiden should pay them for their effort. Honestly.
7Nirvana
MTV Unplugged in New York

Plateau

This is perfection in a live setting. Remarkable.
8Killswitch Engage
As Daylight Dies

Holy Diver

Such a great cover. This band doesn't feck around here, totally dedicated to Dio.
9Metallica
Garage Inc.

Astronomy

This is one of the best covers ever. They spent a lot of time on this and made it into something very special.
10Rage Against The Machine
Renegades

How I Could Just Kill A Man

This album doesn't get much attention but this song is a great cover of Cypress Hill. Song slays.
11Tool
72826

Demon Cleaner

Although this song wasn't on any of the bands albums, they played it live a few times and the owned it. You can tell that Kyuss influenced Tool in a lot of ways in their early stages of recording.
12Ulver
Shadows of the Sun

Solitude

Ulver manage to take an already great song and make it their own. Tempo slowed by 50% and it works well.
13Alice in Chains
Jar of Flies

Sweet Leaf

Another great cover not recorded in the studio. This band kicks ass and used to play this live frequently. A nice cover too being it's the greatest song in metal history. Yeah, I'm right.
14The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Electric Ladyland

All ALong The Watchtower

Bob Dylan was Jimi's idol. No shit. He loved Bob and thought he was the best songwriter of all time. Great cover.
15Shinedown
Leave a Whisper

Simple Man

I first heard this on the radio and I was floored. Not a huge Shinedown fan but this song is a great cover. A lot of emotion here.
16Machine Head
The Burning Red

Message In A Bottle

This song is awesome. This album gets a bad rap but ... he raps so... understandable.
17Megadeth
Hidden Treasures

Paranoid

wew! This is how to make a cover sound good.
18Children of Bodom
Follow the Reaper

Shot In The Dark

This cover surprised me. I wasn't expecting to like it so much. Great song.
19Cradle of Filth
Cruelty and the Beast

Hallowed Be Thy Name

This is one of my personal favorite covers ever. How Dani's voice changed into wind is unreal. Iron Maiden were proud of this cover and I am happy to have been alive to hear it.
20Type O Negative
The Origin of the Feces

Paranoid (Darius)

Another Black Sabbath cover, surprise! Type O managed to slow this down to the point of extacy. Great cover and the best band of all time show they love Black Sabbath.
21Deftones
Diamond Eyes

Simple Man (Emim)

This is an excellent cover, thank you for showing this to me Emim. Song slays
22Staind
Break The Cycle

What Hurts The Most

I love Staind. Aaron Lewis is one of my favorite vocalists in the genre. He nailed this cover and it kicks so much ass it kicks my own ass when it's kicking ass.
23Atreyu
The Curse

You Give Love a Bad Name (Sinternet)

Never thought I'd hear a cover of this song and after listening to it, it kicks ass. I'm pretty sure Jon loved the solo here as well as the effort put into it by Atreyu. Good cover.
24Johnny Cash
American IV: The Man Comes Around

Hurt (Hovse)

Nice mention here. Trent was really happy with this and I do believe this is a very important cover. Johnny doing Johnny and he displays his emotion in this song more than any song he has ever recorded. That is a hard fact!
25Jeff Buckley
Grace

Hallelujah (FreddieDelaney31)

Whenever I see a Fender Telecaster, I think of Jeff. Granted, Clapton owned this instrument but Jeff made it come alive. Great cover and a superb musician.
26Oasis
(What's the Story) Morning Glory?

Cum On Feel The Noise (alamo)

This took me by surprise, been a huge fan of this band when I was a teenager and hearing this cover made me feel really happy. Nice mention!
