Best Album Closers

This has been done many times and I think I made one many years ago as well, but I felt obligated to start it again for shits n giggles. If you have any you would like me to write up, leave a comment and it will be added if I have heard the song in due time.
11Pantera
The Great Southern Trendkill

Sandblasted Skin (Reprise)

This has to be one of the heaviest closers that I have ever heard. This is not only a sick ending to a great album, but it is one of Pantera's heaviest songs ever. This is brutal and straight to the point. Sandblast yourself, fuck off and look in the mirror, hypocrite. It's simple. The main riff is fucking insane hard and it also has a nice easter egg as it fades out...then, once you feel comfortable after this slaughter of the ears has rested ... it comes back to bite you ... like a snake in the grass........ Epic closer.
10Deftones
White Pony

Pink Maggit (Zeuzo)

What starts out as a soothing cascade of slightly distorted guitar with a leslie effect and Chino's passionate vocals turns into a barrage of violence and beauty in a heartbeat. This is a great album closer and highlights the album like spray paint on a sidewalk. It leaves its mark and provides the listener with something to think about as it fades into an irregular heartbeat which in three syllables can be taken as "White Pony". Because maybe, all you are...is me.
9Megadeth
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

My Last Words (OverkillFanBoy1980)

I always thought Mechanix was the best closer ever, granted I was 15 and long before I heard this album. Boy, was I wrong. This is not only my favorite Megadeth closer (yes, even over Polaris and Victory), it was my favorite Megadeth song for a long time. I even wrote the lyrics down to this on a notepad I had at a job I was working when I was 17. Yeah, my supervisor saw it and questioned my state of mind. Long story short, I got fired. This song is killer in every aspect and is one of Megadeth's best songs of all time. This is a great way to end this amazing album on all fronts and I still know all the lyrics by heart. Just think: The album is Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? and the last word on the album is "die". Damn I love Megadeth.
8Slayer
Seasons in the Abyss

Seasons In The Abyss (ThrashVortex)

Slayer's only self titled song as an album closer (I don't count Reign In Blood/Raining Blood) and it is one hell of a closer. This is one of Slayer's best albums ever and they don't fuck around when it comes to closing it out. This song is the perfect way to end an epic thrash album that set standards for many bands in the 90's. This is also one of the few closer songs that actually have a video, and yes, the video slays hard.
7Metallica
Load

The Outlaw Torn (neekafat)

I first heard the single Until It Sleeps a few weeks before this album was released and I was crushed. What happened to my band? I was pissed. Not only pissed, I got really depressed for awhile and started drinking heavily. Probably a month or 2 after its release, my best friend at the time that played guitar with me bought the cassette over to show me Bleeding Me. I actually liked it a lot (I am a stubborn Metallica fan) and I also remember him showing me as Bleeding Me was over, you flipped the tape over and The Outlaw Torn would be ready to play with no rewinding or fast-forwarding. This song means a lot to me and I can't even express the feelings I have when I hear it. It is very personal to me and it is a great closer for an album that gets a lot of hate. Granted, I only like a few songs from Load, The Outlaw Torn is one of Metallica's best songs ever and it is a perfect closer to the album without a doubt. Song rules.
6Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast

Hallowed Be Thy Name - (OverkillFanBoy1980)

This is indeed one of the best closers ever and it not only makes this album what it is, it is also one of Iron Maiden's best songs ever. The first time I heard this I was a teenager and I loved it instantly. I am almost certain they wrote this song first and saved it for last. Don't quote me on that, but I heard that happened from a dude I used to work with. This is a perfect ending to a great album and a landmark in metal history.
5Down
NOLA

Bury Me In Smoke

The first time I heard this I was in my 20's. It really didn't do anything for me back then, but as I grew older, this hit close to home on many accounts. This pretty much sums up the entire album as a whole in one brilliant song. There is nothing this band at the time could have recorded better than this closer.
4Pink Floyd
The Dark Side of the Moon

Brain Damage/Eclipse

I played this so much in my life that I rarely revisit it, but it is, without a doubt, one of the best albums ever recorded in the history of music. The outro here is perfect. Flawless. It couldn't have been any better. It sums it all up in just under 6 minutes and has a wonderfully epic crescendo. I count both of these songs as one for this epic closer. This is how to end an album with a message, and that message is: There is no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact, it's all dark.
3Isis
In the Absence of Truth

Garden Of Light

This should go without saying, but I'll say it anyways. I'll start by asking a series of rhetorical questions pertaining to the band as well as the song in general. Have you ever been out in the wilderness and found an Orchid? Have you ever found a Bismuth Crystal in the woods? When was the last time you saw Halley's Comet? These things are rare. These band members were meant to be with each other to make something extraordinary and it is a very rare thing in music especially. This is definitely one of the best closers ever and it still makes me wonder what they went through in the writing/recording process, as well as what they went through personally before they united to record this epic ending.
2Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

Stones From The Sky

Thanks to this website, I discovered Neurosis. One of my all time favorite bands as we speak. I would have never checked these guys out if it wasn't for Sputnik. I remember when I asked "is this band any good?" and evilford strapped me down, force fed me the discography in chronological order and I took it all in in the span of a few weeks. I will never forget that time in my life. At first listen, I thought my speakers were going bad, and then I thought I had a bad MP3 of the song as it was cutting out and distorting towards the tail end. I remember asking about it and someone said "that's the way it is". Then I listened to it again and it destroyed me. The epitome of a theoretical chaotic oblivion that escapes your imagination of the end of all things, and finds its way to destroy the song. A truly clever notion and one of the most creative songs of all time.
1Disillusion
Back to Times of Splendor

The Sleep Of Restless Hours

This is my favorite album closer of all time in any genre and I am a man of noble intelligence when it comes to music. There is something about it that takes me to a special place, a place of victory, sadness, joy and humility all at the same time. I remember when I first heard it and it was definitely the highlight of the album. This is also one of those outros that gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Many times, many many many times. The effort the band put into this is impeccable and it is a priceless piece of art in music. Nothing can top this in my mind and I am happy to have been alive to witness such beauty and vibrance in music in any form.
