Sorry To Bother You - I think I liked it? It goes in such a strange direction that I feel like this one requires a second viewing. It was by far the most interesting movie on this list imo, so that's a huge compliment - I'm just conflicted on how I feel about where the story went. |

The Hate U Give Us - I gotta be honest, i was expecting this to be hokey bullshit considering the trailer, the tv movie looking filmmaking and the voiceover but this actually ended up being way more enjoyable than I thought. There were a couple of groan worthy moments, but everything else was surprisingly genuine and complex for a movie that was made for young adults. |

The Rider - I just finished watching this like 20 seconds ago. I need to sit with this for a bit, but it was beautifully directed. It also really hurt my heart. |

Love, Simon - This movie was adorable. I was actually taken aback by how much I loved this movie, considering I mostly just watch horror films, but this warmed my heart. It's basically just a John Hughes movies but made today and about a gay kid instead of a straight kid. Also, it's great that the main character had so much more to his personality other than "I'm the gay guy!" like a lot of other movies. |

The Miseducation Of Cameron Post - This was a scary little personal story. This made me glad that I wasn't a gay kid in the 90s raised by religious people. I don't know if it grabbed me as much as some other films here, though. |

BlacKkKlansman - FINALLY got around to seeing this. I actually don't love Spike Lee, but this had me entertained throughout. Topher Grace makes an incredible David Duke and everyone else is on point as well. A couple of minor plot points that are left unaddressed, but it's fine. |

Blindspotting - I still don't know how I feel about the convenience of something that happens in the end, but the chemistry between the two leads is mesmerizing and this is one of my favorite movies of the year. |

Eighth Grade - This movie zapped me back in time to middle school in a way that no other movie that I can think of has before. So many minor touches that make this movie so authentic. |
