Caught Coheed and Mastodon coheadlining this past weekend. Show was fire, as is to be expected, with the 'Don playing Crack the Skye in full before launching into a coda of classics ("Blood and Thunder," baby!); meanwhile, the 'Heed played a pretty well-diversified, career-spanning set, with even some (slightly) deeper cuts like "Gravemakers & Gunslingers" and "Crossing the Frame." Every Time I Die opened, and while I've never really gotten into them, they had a solid set, as well. Anyhow, list is my to-gets through the month of June. | 1 | | Eluvium Pianoworks
Technically not a June release, but hey, y'know, get out of my face. | 2 | | As Cities Burn Scream Through The Walls
Alas, early word (per this very site) doesn't bode too well, looks like, but I'd already preordered this bad boy. So it goes. | 3 | | Aurora A Different Kind of Human - Step 2
Definitely an odd bird, here, but quite interesting. | 4 | | Cave In Final Transmission
'Nuff said. Although, to instantly contradict that, I'll also likely try to snag their Live at Roadburn LP, just to double-down on the intense and crushing sadness. | 5 | | CHON CHON
Any CHON's good CHON--and this, by all accounts, is any CHON, so... | 6 | | Pelican Nighttime Stories
Dug the single they dropped on RSD, so hoping the album lives up to its potential. | 7 | | Silversun Pickups Widow's Weeds
About gotdang time. | 8 | | Yeasayer Erotic Reruns
^Same, to the point that I'd figured these guys had just broken up or something (especially given the title of their previous record, which, for its part, was so-so). Anyways, not really a top priority, but their first three albums--and Odd Blood especially--are jams, so hopefully this rekindles some of that spark. | 9 | | Bad Books III
Early singles have been as gripping as can be hoped for, and if the album as a whole is even half as good as Devine and Manchester Orchestra's respective latest, this could be a best-of-the-year contender. | 10 | | Baroness Gold and Grey
Another preorder, and I'm actually set to see this band play a local record shop to kick off an acoustic mini-tour this weekend, which is pretty exciting. Unfortunately, the album itself won't have been released by then, but they're signing lithographs, so I'll take it. | 11 | | Titus Andronicus An Obelisk
Eh, iffy on this one. Most Lamentable Tragedy may have been (read: was) overstuffed, but at least featured far more hits than misses. A Productive Cough, on the other hand, was heavy on the cough, light on the productive. We will see... | 12 | | The Appleseed Cast The Fleeting Light of Impermanence
Out of the blue, in the very best way. Saw them open for Cursive and mewithoutYou a few weeks back, and while I suspected that might indicate some new material, I was blown away by their performance. "Time the Destroyer" is an all-timer, recency phenomena be damned. | 13 | | Rhye Spirit
Finally getting a proper vinyl release at the end of the month. | |

06.07.19 | @Johnny: Yeah, it was sick.
@Relinquished: Good to know. They'd sort of fallen off my radar for a bit, glad to hear they're back in-force. |
