"Murder in the Red Barn"

"This song tells the story of a real-life murder in Suffolk, England in the 1827. William Corder told his lover Maria Marten to meet him at the Red Barn at dawn so they could run away together, but instead he shot and killed her and went on the run. He was later arrested and hanged for her murder in 1828. Maria’s sister claims that she had a dream in which Maria’s ghost came to her and showed her where her body was buried. The Barn became a popular tourist site and people wanting to take memorabilia stripped it bare."
