Also didn't mention THE HUMAN CONDITION because while it is three separate entries (I, II, and III), I believe they were all filmed/made at the same time and intended to operate as one film broken up simply to be digestible (a la KILL BILL having two volumes). So it's not really a trilogy imo.

In and of itself, that doesn't. I guess I worded it improperly. THE HUMAN CONDITION was written and shot as a single film. It was only split into three parts to make it more digestible for audiences and more practical for public screenings, because not many people will sit through a 9+ hour film. But for all practical intents and purposes, it is one continuous film. That's why I think considering it an actual trilogy is inaccurate. Same reason I don't really consider KILL BILL VOLUME II to be a "sequel." Something like e.g. THREE COLORS, on the other hand, were also shot around/near the same time and fully intended to be intertwining, however they function independently and can operate in the absence of their counterparts (whereas "THE HUMAN CONDITION II," for example, could not), meaning I would consider it a trilogy. (More specifically, a "thematic trilogy," but that's another discussion.) In any case, I understand my reasoning is maybe a tiny bit arbitrary and subjective but it makes the most sense to me. If you took something like SATANTANGO and split it up into three parts (each with four of the film's "chapters," say), that would not suddenly make it a Trilogy imo. That the producers of THE HUMAN CONDITION decided to the tri-split from the get-go doesn't change my opinion on that fact, I guess.
