Bring Me The Horizon Ranked

Bring me the horizon, a British band people ether really enjoy *insert 2008 scene kids here* or hate with an intense passion *insert homophobic soundoffs from 2008 here*. I leaned a bit on the dislike side for a while (never to the extend of their harshest critics though), then i heard "Ludans" and it completely changed my perspective of the band. I decided to give BMTH a shot and do a disog. run of all of their albums and this is the result with my rankings. The only note here is "Live At Wembley" will not count because i have been unable to track that one down in full. without further to do, here is the ranking of the band that is somehow home to some of the more toxic sound off pages on almost new release.

Music to Listen to...

Yeah its no secret, this disjointed album of forcing to mesh the leftovers from the sessions during the recording of "Amo" (or if you wanna call this a remix album, then "Amo: Cut up!") is the worst release BMTH have done in their whole career . the only song here that can be legitimately enjoyed is "A devastating liberation" . other then that you have the worse of the 2 on "?" (aka "In The Dark part 2. Electric boogaloo") or "underground big" which sounds pretty great for the first 6 minutes, but then goes downhill when Oli goes on a rant about people accusing them of ripping off other band's or him trying to force the listener to go vegan (not joking about that btw).If you like 6 minutes of rap and 10 seconds of metal in your ASMR vegan conversion session then...you might be able to enjoy this?

The Bedroom Sessions

Only if you are a hardcore fan of the band and not much to offer if your not one. the only thing to note here is their is a "WEEEEEE" scream on this album that had me bursting out laughing.
2.5/5
11Bring Me the Horizon
Sempiternal Remixes

The two remixes of "Can You Feel My Heart" are not very good (sorry Shikari!) but the remix of "go to hell for heavens sake is solid, and the cover of sleepwalking sounds really nice in acoustic. so its a 50/50 bag.

10Bring Me the Horizon
Suicide Season Cut Up!

This is one of the better remix albums out there, however like alot of remix albums, it does suffer from being longer then it needs to and some remixes are kinda "meh" however their are really solid ones here, like the Skrillex remix or the Shawn Crahan remix.

9Bring Me the Horizon
This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For

A rather promising demo, while it wont necessarily win over those who really do not like their deathcore days, those who enjoyed "Count Your Blessings" will have a bit of application for its WIP prototype.

8Bring Me the Horizon & Draper
The Chill Out Sessions

"Music To Chill And Study Too, Brought To You By Bring Me The Horizon" look i know it may be a bit controversial even counting this in the ranking, but bring me the horizon is in the title of this project so i am counting it. this album is a recommend if your looking for something more relaxing and calming, as that is the one job this sets out to do and it does it well

7Bring Me the Horizon
Suicide Season

Out of all the major albums of theirs, this one does feel the most like a "Singles album" as the album does not quite stack up to the likes of "Chelsea Smile", "This Sadness Will Never End", or "Diamonds Aren't Forever", however their are some moments here worth hearing like the title track, or the (Grindcore-eque?) "No Need For Instructions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Back Of Toilet Doors" and was the start of the band including electronic sounds which would later become an essential part of their sound, such as on "Chelsea Smile" or the title track.

6Bring Me the Horizon
Count Your Blessings

Okay is the writing immature? Yes. Is this an album the band admit they put very little effort into (and that they do not like at all)? Yes. Regardless of that, the musicianship of this album is impressive (Guitar-work in particular is a treat on this one) and their are quite a few standout moments aside from "Prey For Plagues" like "(I Used To Make Out With) Medusa" and "Black & Blue" and at the end of hearing this i feel this album might be underappreciated even if it is very much dated in 2006.

5Bring Me the Horizon
Live at the Royal Albert Hall

Honestly...their was a missed opportunity here, not because the band's most orchestral album, "There Is A Hell.." was missing minus one song, but also because for 90% of the screaming parts, Oli is just...talking them out. That being said, the all the arrangements are fantastic and the powerful live version of "Doomed" alone make this worth vising

4Bring Me the Horizon
That's the Spirit

Bring Me the Linkin park, this style change really worked for bring me the horizon. the choruses and hooks on this album are strong thought on the likes of "Avalanche" and "Throne". Time has been really kind to this album, the Nu-metal approach fits the tone of the album well..as an ironic but frustrated reaction to the outlook of depression right from the get go of "Doomed" (one of the best songs in the whole bands catalog") "Happy Song". The start of incorporating some pop into their sound works very well on the sweet "Follow You" or the closer "Oh No" The one issue with this album is that it does loose a little bit of momentum in the back half, but the back half has some solid moments like the contemporary "Drown"

3Bring Me the Horizon
Amo

I know this might be the most controversial ranking, "AMO? That Pop album so high?" well let me say this about Amo. The album has an imminence amount of replay value that I blew off when i first heard it, this album is a grower at the same time one that has some bright moments that stick. Best way to describe the album is half of it is rock, and half of it is pop, but that does not do it justice. This all over the place in sound and style, and say what you will about them "going pop" they did not half bake it at all. Even the songs that people do not like at all here like "Mother tongue" i have been going back to and playing a lot. Doing this disog. run actually caused me to go and edit my best of 2019 to include this.

2Bring Me the Horizon
There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It...

This one saw a shift in sound for the band, that had people labeling them as "sellouts". We hear the band lean more heavy towards electronic inspired sound with some orchestral elements and while some of the album is a litte rough around the edges, that is what makes the album what it is. This is the first time we hear the soft side of BMTH on the chilling "Don't Go" and the collaborations with Lights are fantastic. This album serves as a great companion piece to the number 1 pick (which you knew what its gonna be, before even clicking on the list) as both share similar themes and the generally the same concept thought, with this one being the more bleaker one in tone.

1Bring Me the Horizon
Sempiternal

Oh come On! Ya'll knew this was going to be number one! The addition of one fishy boi really was for the better here as this album took some the ideas from "There is a hell..." and polished them off, the slower moments here are fantastic and the more traditional metalcore aspect slaps hard. the album is filled with some introspective and personal lyrics thought like on "Hospital of souls", even the songs that are more angst filled like "Antivist" still hold weight today. Do i even need to mention how loaded this album is "Can you feel my heart" and "Sleepwalking" both feel cathartic and the likes of "Shadow moses" and "House of wolves" give the album an aggressive bite. This is a sonic journey that gets better with each listen and has aged like fine wine. This album is the perfect sequel, it is not only better but it exceeds the original in every single way.
