10.22.20 | went through that for a while, it fucking sucks, after it got lifted it was literally surreal to go outside after dark since with us it started from 4pm to 5 am |

10.23.20 | What's the public reaction and attitude to this? Here in the UK I would say a majority of people are thoroughly sick of the half measures and I'm feeling a lot of unrest |
zakalwe
10.23.20 | Everyone but the extremely vulnerable to get back to normal.
98% of people rearranging their lives and being shepherded along while the economy lies on the precipice.
Taxes increased, paying the banks interest on our own money, mass unemployment. Future is bleak as fuck. |

10.23.20 | gotta use your common sense and stay safe, but yeah, the steps some states seem to be taking these days are feeling more and more draconian and paternalistic. 7pm curfews in France etc. |

10.23.20 | 1 = 😍
The one that made me truly happy was 11 though, I love that one!!!! |

10.23.20 | Stay safe man, mentally as well
In Spain we're going back to that soon enough as well |

10.23.20 | "went through that for a while, it fucking sucks, after it got lifted it was literally surreal to go outside after dark since with us it started from 4pm to 5 am"
Oh wow, 4pm? That's brutal. Where are you from?
"What's the public reaction and attitude to this? Here in the UK I would say a majority of people are thoroughly sick of the half measures and I'm feeling a lot of unrest"
People fear that at this rate we are going into another lockdown and it is felt, but thankfully I live in a small town so I haven't seen any freak-out yet.
"Future is bleak as fuck."
And this situation only highlights prior problems. For instance, we don't have enough specialized doctors to handle it well and so hospitals are going crazy.
"the steps some states seem to be taking these days are feeling more and more draconian and paternalistic."
To be fair, balancing the line between economy and sheer survival is just daunting, and people not doing small things (like wearing masks correctly) doesn't help.
cheers @pollastrerostit, same for you! As banal as it is to say, even judging just by the countries in this thread we are all in this situation, aren't we.
@Trif yeah 11 is out of my comfort zone (as in I rarely listen to it, not that I find it difficult) but I really like it too. As for Evans, have you heard You Must Believe in Spring? Another fitting record to jam |
Pikazilla
10.23.20 | That sucks, man. Stay safe out there. |

10.26.20 | Curfew in Spain effective since yesterday 23pm-6am
"People fear that at this rate we are going into another lockdown and it is felt, but thankfully I live in a small town so I haven't seen any freak-out yet."
Pretty much this, I live in Barcelona but anyway people think pretty much like this. I don't think we can handle another lockdown like last spring, so I hope it will be a bit more relaxed |
Sabrutin
10.26.20 | Here we are still at 23:00~5:00 but now everything closes at 18:00 (and obviously cinemas and theaters are completely closed) so we are really almost there with that feared second lockdown, they just don't want to say the word |

10.26.20 | Meanwhile in America... |

10.26.20 | No I haven't heard 'You Must Believe in Spring' yet, will check! LOVE Evans. Did you hear his three Live in Paris 1972 albums? They're perfect in every way. |

10.26.20 | "To be fair, balancing the line between economy and sheer survival is just daunting, and people not doing small things (like wearing masks correctly) doesn't help."
For sure. I'm not saying it's easy to strike the balance, more vocalising a frustration / fear towards some of the more extreme measures implemented by some states. |

yes |

10.27.20 | "vocalising a frustration / fear"
That's fair, I do it too of course
@Trif: YMBiS is powerful in its way, very subdued but partly dedicated to his brother and wife who both committed suicide, and Evans himself was suffering from illness if I'm not mistaken (and got into drugs somewhere in the 70s). The record is technically posthumous as Evans died the year before its publication.
Another album of him I really dig is Interplay, more boppy and upbeat with Jim Hall on guitar. Anyway I'm not a huge Evans connoisseur, I'll add the live stuff you mentioned to my backlog.
"Meanwhile in America..."

10.27.20 | Sorry to hear it, Sabrutin. Yeah, I'm sitting here in New York watching the resurgence of this damned thing in Italy, Spain and the rest of Europe, and it seems all too familiar. Our economy will come back from the first lockdown. Not sure what will happen if there's another one. Stay safe. |
pollastrerostit
10.27.20 | The economy has to change, it cannot be fully based on services alone anymore and cannot and should not rely in over consume from people. How to do that I do not know but it is clear to me that "the economy" as-is is dead... and tbh it the virus only accelerated its decay |
zakalwe
10.27.20 | 5 people at my dads work have tested positive for COVID. My dad didn’t feel to clever on Thursday and went to the hospital in an ambulance today, the man is in a bit of a state. Absolutely knackered and in the ‘at risk’ category due to age and what have you.
Shit times. |

10.27.20 | that is a pretty generous curfew, where I live in the states our curfew was from 7 to 7 |

10.27.20 | We are in the worst timeline indeed. Hope y'all stay safe and sane. Especially to you Zak. My grandpa passed about a month ago now. Really hit everyone on his side of the family. |
Sabrutin
10.27.20 | Hey Diva, same to you! Here too, the TV talks of Europe/UK restrictions and then of the rising cases in America.
@pollastrerostit: some situations are really scary, I think of the closed theaters that personally scare me as I was trying to move at least a part of my future in that direction.
@wham: true the curfew itself is rather generous but, between what closes at 6pm and what's closed in general, the second lockdown doesn't look too distant.
Best wishes to everybody, really |
gschwen
10.27.20 | an 11pm to 5am curfew would have zero effect on my not-fun life |

10.27.20 | seems like curfews would be really hard to enforce in regards to house parties and what not |

Italy crew suuuuuuuuuuuuuuup here in Milan, can't wait for second lockdown. Inevitable, because Europe governments have fucked up. The only consolation this time is that practically everybody's response has been absolutely terrible. |
Egarran
10.27.20 | How have they fucked up? Not doubting you, just curious what you would suggest. |
Sabrutin
10.28.20 | ^ Well I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in Italy we are basically improvising the restrictions as the situation goes on. We could and should have acted sooner, since we could have imagined what was coming.
@Lunatic: I'm near Milan too! I can get to Porta Garibaldi in about 30 mins of train.
Anyway I heard of the public protests in the city, hope you're safe.
(ho optato per l'inglese haha)
@colton: house parties are indeed a problem, we went from "six persons max" to "please do not invite anybody you're not related to (and use masks if you must)" |
Gnocchi
10.28.20 | Is Massimo okay? Sucks to hear the worlds still getting torn a new one. Countless deaths and freedom at risk. Stay safe. |

10.28.20 | In México this whole thing is a mess lmao, each state is taking different "measures" and in my city (Guadalajara) which is the second largest in the country they are going to implement a "curfew" for 14 days from 6 am to 10-11 pm on weekdays and total curfew on weekends, save for buying groceries or other essentials. |

10.28.20 | "Well I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in Italy we are basically improvising the restrictions as the situation goes on. We could and should have acted sooner since we could have imagined what was coming. "
It's exactly the same over here, plus that mongoloid of a president that we have. Yeah, the one who carries pictures of saints, shows them around, and tells people that they are his "protective shield" against COVID-19 and every other peril he might encounter. |

10.28.20 | Stay safe everyone! |

10.28.20 | decided to spend time w/ my fam for a few weeks while my friend sells our condo. friend ended up getting covid, most likely from one of the realtors showing the house. so now im stuck at my family's home and last night the wind was so bad here (70 mph) it caused our 2 story high maple tree to fall on top of our home. oh and we live in the middle of the fire capital of the world so thats cool too. |
LunaticSoul
10.28.20 | @Egarran: there's many things we could have done! Starting from test & trace, test & trace. In Italy right now we have capacity for the same testing Germany was doing in March.
Our COVID-19 tracing app has been embarassing, and in some regions they even forgot to send data in for MONTHS
We had a decree to extend ICUs, which has been half applied, so now they're rushing to do it.
Still not much is being done worldwide to defend actual impacted age groups, exponential risk for 60+ compared to a 20 y.o.
Subways and other means of public transport have not been improved, remote work is not mandatory and small companies still send their poor employees with a 9-5 rhythm, cluttering public transport.
And loads more! this is just Italy but considering I've been around France and Spain, where it has been even worse, and seen similar issues, I'd say it's fair to generalize.

10.29.20 | Wasn't aware of the situation in France omg
Spain is getting collapsed. My friend's parents have both tested positive for COVID and he lived with them for a week while they were ill. He isn't getting tested because labs are collapsed and can take up to 10 days to get the result. So as long as he doesn't have symptoms he's just quarantined in his place with 2 friends. And also I spent a lot of time with him in the weekend so of course no tracing whatsoever. There's no way we are not going into a second lockdown as well. |
Egarran

10.29.20 | Going into lockdown is dumb but whatever. Kill all jobs and any economic future for a disease with such low mortality rate.
Whatever just get it over with and make us all dependant on the State. |
