11.22.08 | Stupid Godspeed You! album won't show up... Oh well, tell me what you think of the list, what are the essential post rock albums, blah blah blah... | Mendigo
11.22.08 | whenever there are some stranger symbols in an albums name (or even just a ' ) the album doesn't show up - but you can use the html code for showing certain symbols. Unicode book tells you all the codes for every symbol there is I believe.
haven't heard 4&5, but the first three are all great (especially 3)
the essentials are imo (the first four are absolute must-haves, the rest I do love as well):
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Sigur Ros - Agaetis byrjun
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
Mogwai - Young Team
A Silver Mount Zion - "This Is Our Punk-Rock, Thee Rusted Satellites Gather + Sing"
Yndi Halda - Enjoy Eternal Bliss
Pelican - Australasia (though it's more like Post-Metal)
Slint - Spiderland | robin
11.22.08 | some really awesome ones to get you on your way:
lights out asia - eyes like brontide; a really phenomonal post-rock album released this year that mixes ambience and postrock but both in a more captivating way than both usually are, and with some vocals in the mix which are really perfectly done
jaga jazzist - what we must; don't really know h ow to explain it differently, post/nu/whatever jazzy stuff really. if you like this you should also get talk talk's laughing stock, cause that is a must have
and if you like godspeed you alot, check out the ascent of everest, who mimick them but in a really catchy way for the newcomer. | robin
11.22.08 | also, if you liked the earth is not a cold dead place, get their ep - the rescue. it's probably the only worthwhile thing they've done in my opinion, but it's really awesome. | thebhoy
11.22.08 | Do Make Say Think - Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn
Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History in Rust
Your list and Mendigo's comment pretty much cover the rest. | Electric City
