| King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Albums Ranked
The most prolific and diverse band in modern rock and one of my favorite contemporary bands overall. Also check KG, it jams and funks and microtones and everything. | 16 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Eyes Like The Sky
Honestly, I can hardly remember a thing from this album which it probably the worst thing I could say about King Gizz. | 15 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard 12 Bar Bruise
Not bad but pretty average lo-fi rock. Can't blame them for this one though since they were just getting their feet in the water. | 14 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Oddments
Hot Wax and Sleepwalker are all I really come back to. Mostly just a collection of some decent lo-fi Aussie-rock singles, but a couple are even downright annoying. | 13 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Sketches of Brunswick East (w/ Mild High Club)
King Gizzard's short-lived collaboration to make some soft, jazz-inspired tunes. Pretty good album but lacks variety or interesting songwriting. The Spider and Me, Rolling Stoned, and Countdown are the standouts. | 12 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Gumboot Soup
It's in the title - a soup of leftover tracks from their 5-album run in 2017. Lacks cohesion as an album but still has a few standouts like Beginner's Luck, the Last Oasis, and All is Known. | 11 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Float Along. Fill Your Lungs
The band's first attempt at the long-winded, krautrock-inspired psychedelia that would characterize their later albums. Fun tunes but only hinting at the greatness to come | 10 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Fishing For Fishies
King Gizzard's short bout with environmentally-conscious blues and blues rock. It's a good album but the song gets a bit lackluster as it goes on. Real's not Real, Boogieman Sam, and Cyboogie are my fav tracks from here. | 9 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Paper Mache Dream Balloon
The band's short stint with purely acoustic instruments. Similar to Fishing for Fishies, it's good but a bit slow in that it doesn't maintain momentum all the way through the last few tracks. Sense, Bone, and Trapdoor are the standouts. | 8 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Quarters
Four 10 min and 10 sec tracks that split this album into quarters(!), each representing a season. All great songs (especially The River, one of their best) but a couple of them tend to drag to reach their respective run-times. | 7 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Murder Of The Universe
Their most proggy album to date, the band tackles apocalyptic, Lovecraftian themes with spoken word and aggressive instrumentals. Surprisingly catchy (Balrog!) and great flow between tracks but the spoken word does tend to obstruct the music at some points. | 6 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Infest the Rats' Nest
Yet another short bout of genre-hopping has the band playing...thrash metal? A couple cuts are lacking here but the rest of the album is just great King Gizz material with Stu sounding more aggressive and the distortion and heaviness turned up a notch. Love the lyrical concept, too. | 5 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Flying Microtonal Banana
The album that kicked off their 2017 album run has King Gizz's first go-around at playing around with microtones, and the rest of their usual psychedelic goodness. Rattlesnake has always been a bit overrated to me but everything else on here is great too. | 4 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard K.G.
I really appreciate the experimentation they're embracing with this album. Microtones, electronic funk, groovy psychedelia, and even a doom-inspired closer make this one of their most diverse albums yet. Every song here is great. | 3 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Nonagon Infinity
Hard, fun, seamless, and catchy. King Gizz barrels through the runtime and doesn't waste a second. One of their most well-constructed albums featuring all the elements that give them their unique flavor as a band. | 2 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard I'm In Your Mind Fuzz
Would be the band's absolute best album if not for #1 by a hair. Long krauty tunes and everything else that makes King Gizzard great but done better than the rest. Easily their album that I revisit the most and one of the best to sit all the way through. The first four tracks are their best material hands down. | 1 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Polygondwanaland
Spacey, unique, cohesive, polyrhythmic, and fantastic. Every tracks flows seamlessly into the next - wonderfully paced and masterfully executed. This is the band at the absolute peak of their abilities and what made me fall in love with them. | |

11.20.20 | good band
check K.G.!!!!!! | insomniac15
11.20.20 | Polygondwanaland and Microtonal Banana were the only albums of theirs I got into. I will give the band one last try with K.G. | porcupinetheater
11.20.20 | Sweet ranking, 11’s probably the only thing I’d shift more than a place or two (ain’t heard KG yet).
That said: “[#2] Would be the band's absolute best album if not for #1.”
Pretty sure that’s how the concept of 2 works lol | JoyfulPlatypus
11.20.20 | Currently giving K.G. a first listen, this shit rules! | Senetrix666
11.20.20 | 1 is 1. whole album rules but the stretch from Inner Cell to Horology is actual perfection | LeddSledd
11.20.20 | @porc lmao yeah it's kind of redundant but I was trying to express the fact that Mind Fuzz is so far ahead of the others except for Poly which just barrrrely takes the spot for number 1
edit: added a bit to make it clearer | ArsMoriendi
11.20.20 | I feel like I'd enjoy this band, but also I don't have the time for a band that releases 5 albums a year :/ | farmerobama
11.20.20 | Pretty accurate, would only make minor changes. | LeddSledd
11.20.20 | @Ars they've been slowing down lol but even a couple of their better albums would be absolutely worth it to check out
@Darius "psychedlic garage rock" is basically like a third of their albums but with a very distinct progressive and often experimental edge to it. they fuck around with microtones, instruments like harmonica, flute, and even Turkish horns, and can often be quite angular or irregular. they're also known for "genre-hopping" and doing single-album bouts with jazz, blues, thrash metal, and acoustic folk. All in all, they're great. | GreyShadow
11.20.20 | woke up to Intrasport today and fuck man, made my day. KG was great. i've only heard 1,3,4, and 5 in full and definitely need to fix that. heard Poly first and minus the outstanding Crumbling Castle i didn't really get into it : (
but Nonogan made me a loooove them | porcupinetheater
11.20.20 | Their sound’s more consistent than people give it credit for, all their albums are basically the Gizz sound wearing a new coat. A lot of stuttering sorta triplet rhythms, tom roll forward drummin’, Stu doing his breathy Stu thing, riding rhythms for all they’re worth | LeddSledd
11.21.20 | @porcupine yeah they definitely have their "gizzard-isms". and don't forget the "wEwEwEwEwEwEwE" tremolo guitar effect on literally every song of theirs ever lol | LeddSledd
11.21.20 | yeah it can be a bit hard to jump into a discog like that. i'd very much recommend 8 through 1, all are great albums that give a good impression of King Gizz's sound | Squiggly
11.21.20 | only heard 12, might have to change that | Veldin
11.21.20 | Honestly really love 16, but maybe bc it was perfect album for Red Dead 2. Wasn't expecting it's rating to be so low (3.1). |
