07.30.22 | we need to a bit more business before im totally happy but i really rate picking up sterling and koulibaly, sterling especially is just the type of player we've desperately needed for the last few seasons who can break through a low block defence, id say 3rd or 4th is pretty realistic provided james and chilwell stay healthy |

07.30.22 | i concur, Paisley did a great job on the hooker snook circa 2018 but he needs Joffrey to assist him with the +/- tolerance of .0625, but seeing him climb up the ranks without Wadly, he sure has a lot to offer with his prose and direction pertaining to clutch situations. I mean his last goal was something that just happened unexpectedly, just goes to show everyone what he's capable of when the disc is on the field. Joffrey abandoned the circuit but Paisley still shines at the plate. |

I think they'll quality for Europe in the end, but they've gotta stop losing to clubs like Forest and Leeds. |
Jasdevi087
11.02.22 | our fresh legs are all still in fetus form. we've got "replacements", but they're replacements for like four years down the line, not for right now. which is shit, but it's also worth noting we've got a constantly rotating batch of about six injuries at any given time, so it just hasn't worked the way it was meant to. we might be losing to Havant & Waterlooville, but we still beat City twice so far this season
but like also, fuck it, we're Liverpool. We're the banter club, let us have a shit season ffs. |

11.14.22 | Idk what to say about CR7. Part of me kinda feels bad for the United supporters since the decent results with ten Hag over the last two months have largely been overshadowed by the drama, but at the same time, it's United, and they should've known what they were getting into when they signed him again. Dude absolutely can't handle the fact that he's almost 40, and that his club plays better without him than with him. |

05.31.23 | Thank fuck this season is finally over
Poch is a great appointment for chelsea but the squad is a complete and utter mess. Lots of work to be done. Hopefully lessons have been learned and the army of new execs know what they're doing. If mount does end up leaving I'm never forgiving Todd though, what a failure that would represent.
City to finish top next season and wouldn't be surprised if the top4 looks pretty similar, maybe Liverpool to break back in if they sort their midfield out |

05.31.23 | Also still feels a bit surreal that Leicester actually went down. |

05.31.23 | i actually got three of these right so I'll take that, better than most the youtubers do
I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different top 4 next season. way too early to start making predictions of course but like, what do we do with the fact that Emery will actually have the entire season with Villa this time? they were the 2nd best team in the league after the world cup break. plus we're definitely gonna be back next season, we had a big stinker like we did this season after we won the title, i think we were just a little unfortunate this time that Newcastle got so far ahead with their progress.
Fuck that shit if City win a 4th though, that surely makes the premier league officially a farmer's league at that point right? that'd make it 6 of the last 7 premier league titles |

Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | A lot of people thought Bournemouth and Fulham would struggle, me included.
It feels harder to accurately predict each year, the overall quality has been raised to the point where 'better players' gets you nowhere by itself. There was a time where a dysfunctional set of talent would still get you so far, now you could finish practically anywhere. Coaching, stability and actually having a functionally run club are all absolutely massive, more than they ever have been (they've always been important). |
SmurkinGherkin
05.31.23 | Will have to see how Newcastle and villa deal with playing European football and adapt to teams sitting deep against them in the league. Emery has done an incredible job though you're right. Relegation contenders to seventh. Mad the level of managers in the league is so high now, there was probably 5 or 6 shouts for manager of the season?
Newcastle scare me. Owners looking like they're from the city school of sportswashing oil state owners rather than the PSG which is bad news for the rest of the 'big 6'. Again howe is coaching the shit out of them. Getting so much out of the like of burn, Murphy, longstaff and joelinton. If they keep adding one or two isak or bruno level players per year...
Long way back to the champions league for Chelsea and spurs |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | Newcastle did the clever thing of not going straight for superstars and instead bought high-potential but already reasonably experienced imports and paired them with guys who had PL experience (Tripper / Burn etc.)
Howe's also done a great job getting more out of the players who were already there, to be fair to him
UCL could accelerate their ambitions, which is a worry, but they will also need a much bigger squad now and who's to say they continue signing the right players. Managing that squad will become tougher as it grows, too. |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | Spurs are screwed if they lose Kane. I still retain some hope as a Chelsea fan. This season was a complete mess, but I look at the (mostly young) talent we have and can't see us not improving under competent coaching and a less haphazard approach to the market / business-side etc. Poch is a sensible appointment, arguably the best 'fit' we could've acquired (even if Nags would've excited me more). |
SmurkinGherkin
05.31.23 | "Fuck that shit if City win a 4th though, that surely makes the premier league officially a farmer's league at that point right? that'd make it 6 of the last 7 premier league titles"
Pretty much unfortunately Until pep leaves tou can't see them losing it tbh. He's just able to solve whatever problems come up because the squad is so high level and deep. And everyone is fresh for the run in because he can rotate constantly. I mean having alvarez as a back up striker for haaland is just...cruel and unfair lol |

I guess if the next Chelsea forward doesn't work out he'll go to Poch (if he isn't sacked by Chelsea - all bets are off)
Sadly that will make him 'Judas the 2nd' and a club legend will instead get a Spurs song about him being a mong and taking it up the arse. That'll be terrible but I see it happening!
Hopefully he stays his whole career because it just should happen - he's another Shearer. |

05.31.23 | On a free to Poch - why not? Only manager he's ever trusted and he's all set up in London.
The club can't stand in his way.
City and Liverpool won't want him, it's United or Chelsea if he stays this season. If Poch has Chelsea top three and United are struggling I 100% see it.
It might be why he's sold this summer - to make sure it's United not Chelsea. |
Pheromone
05.31.23 | Big time levy out though for this mess of a managerial hunt and not even speaking to Poch who has now gone to fucking Chelsea? State of it. We look like we'll be getting Celtic's boss which is a big fuckin gamble.
The Kane thing is mostly unserious. I do think he'll be playing for us next year though given some of the quotes that've come out from him and other players, and I doubt he would ever go chelsea |
Pheromone
05.31.23 | Kane to Chelsea is a sure fire way to fuck up his reputation and certain legend status and a big gamble if Chelsea don't end up winning anything.

SmurkinGherkin
05.31.23 | Since sacking poch has levy made a good

Sinternet
05.31.23 | he def wants that premier league goal record so he won't go abroad until he gets it, but yeah i doubt he stays at spurs unless you mega change things up next season, he also desperately wants to actually win a trophy in his career. there's a chance he does it with england although i'd never bet on that, but after him openly simping for man city to take him before he knows he needs to move on to win anything. both us and united are going through rebuilds but the differnece is we can actually win important trophies through the chaos. whether he wants trophies that bad to ruin his reputation at spurs remains to be seen but you guys have probably at least two or three seasons worth of rebuild minimum before you look like serious threats, lots of deadwood especially defensively that needs clearing out and replacing. |
SmurkinGherkin
05.31.23 | @Demon re Chelsea, we've spent 600mil on players and not solved any of the other main issues with the team. No striker, no defensive mid and no top class keeper. Our best players all suit a 3atm but we've gone out and bought expensive wingers in mudryk, sterling and madueke who don't suit 3atb. We've got a 100mil millstone around our neck in lukaku (not forgetting the absolute walking disaster that is cucurella). No leadership on the pitch since jorginho left. Mason likely going who is the heart and soul of the club.
Other clubs will see Chelsea a mile of trying to offload all our squad players so good luck getting any value for them. And no champions league to offer.
There's certainly good parts for poch to work with. Young players with a tonne of potential but I'm just worried for the short term that the squad is too big of a cluster fuck to succeed with. |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | certainly a lot of work to do, especially in the outgoings department, although I disagree on quite a few of the points you've made.
Cucurella can be salvaged with good coaching. We will transition away from a WB system now and it wouldn't take wholesale changes to do so.
I like Mount but calling him the 'heart and soul' of the club is a bit of a stretch for me. He's certainly replaceable and seems to want guaranteed 'big-time player' type money / assurances, which the club is rightly reluctant to give him. The rumours are Man Utd are in for him and we'll see how much he gets, but I imagine the sums won't be budget friendly. The problem with Mason is it's hard to see where he fits in. No-one really knows what his best position is. Not disciplined enough to be a midfielder, but not consistently prolific enough to be an attacker. I think he could be a good #8 in the right system, yet we're unlikely to play that way under Poch. |
Sinternet
05.31.23 | there's a reason mount has been in favour with so many managers and thats because he's a utility player, he does whatever is asked of him to a high enough standard despite not being world-class in any particular area, 10 goals and 10 assists from midfield last season is nothing to be sniffed at. now rumour is he is asking for stupid wages and was offered the same deal as james was which would be more than fair and if he goes because of that then whatever, but he has the chelsea identity and background which is what i think is meant by 'heart and soul' - regardless he wasn't our poty two seasons in a row for nothing (aside from james being injured half the time) and one shit season in which he was mostly injured and everyone underperformed anyway is not worth dismissing him as much as some people want to make him a scapegoat.
i agree with cucurella, got thrust immediately into the team with health and behind the scenes problems and suffered quite a bit. he's a good player (not 60m but good enough to play for us) who will likely be much improved next season.
we have players to offload but if anything's true it's that we do a decent job of offloading people. madueke i think looks very high potential and has been one of the few putting in effort, i think sterling had been very hit and miss but is one of the few players in attack who would actually drive at defences at times, and mudryk has clearly made the step up to this level too early but i'm not gonna call bust on after half a season. i also don't think we are desperate for a keeper aside from a good backup, mendy should go this summer but kepa has been one of the few players whose had a decent season, and we'd struggle to offload him obviously. we have slonina coming through who should be ready in two or three years. |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | @Gherkin: you're spot on that we need a striker and a DM + getting rid of players will be difficult, that's why there will be a few who're more 'sellable' that might end up leaving instead (Mount being one, especially as academy players are pure profit from an FFP point of view) |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.23 | to be clear I agree with you re Mount Sint, just that I don't think he's worth the reported demands (which I think you're on board with - i.e. in excess of what James received). I'd definitely have signed him up if his demands were more reasonable. He's a very useful player to have.
and yeah Kepa is decent, I'd eventually like a more 'commanding' keeper to deal with crosses, but otherwise he's solid. honestly don't think it's that much of a priority this summer. All of the rumoured options don't fill me with huge confidence from what I can gather. Unlikely to be much of an upgrade. |

Spurs need to look at Everton, money itself can't bail you out of trouble - you need to BACK A MANAGER in terms of their vision, not speculate to accumulate, no punts, not stockpiling players in one position as they seem a 'bargain', clear the decks of the Spurs Lodge 'lifers/loafers' (apparently we've offered a new contract for Dier, who next? Sessegnon? Ditch the shit)
Have a footballing vision, back the manager in a timely and appropriate manner, and try and pretend you give a crap about your rep being a top 20 rich club in all club football. Jesus wept. |

we're a masterclass in failure
we took two transfer windows off at the hight of our potential, we sacked a manager before a cup final, we had another manager effectively resign/have a mental breakdown before the CL final, club is 'unique' you could say
you can't 'cruise' in the PL anymore, it's changed, even the smaller sides keep good players and aren't lacking in funds, you can't bully but Levy hasn't got the memo - Everton are a good warning tbh |
DoofDoof
05.31.23 | I can't name a second best player you could build a team around if Kane leaves. We need a keeper, two central defenders, first choice left WB (if indeed we even keep with wingbacks after now signing three), at least one creative midfielder, at least two wide forwards, and a replacement for Kane if he leaves.
Only position we're overstocked in is defensive mid...but none are quite world beaters.
That is an insane amount of work and as Chelsea have found, changing ten or so players at once is risky. |
