08.04.22 | 1. Andy Prieboy - Tomorrow Wendy: Huh, interesting. I do know about Andy's stint in Wall of Voodoo, but I didn't know he had an entire solo career outside of that... especially since Stan Ridgeway is the more widely recognized WoV frontman. Anyway, this is quite good! Nice harmonies between the two singers, as well as a distinctly melancholic feel (which makes sense, given the subject matter). Lovely ballad for sure. 3.8
2. Caetano Veloso - Clara: Damn, what a tonal shift from the last one, lol. Anyway, this is ok... I'm not familiar with the artist, but I hear elements of bossa nova, psychedelia, and even some hints of 60s exotica. Pretty nice combination, though I wish the song was a bit longer so its ideas could be fleshed out more. 3.0

6. Millionaire. 3.0 I like Andre, song is a little repetitive to start, but branches out nicely.
7. Paradise. 2.8 Sounds like anthemic orchestral gothic Euro Metal. I would dig this live, but across a bit overproduced and insincere.

4. Casualties of Cool - The Code: Hey, I know this one! Smooth country-oriented tune with a slightly haunting tone to it; as much as I enjoy Devy's metal records, the albums in which he goes for a softer approach are always my favorites. 4.0 |

08.14.22 | „Aw you're underselling yourself. You are exactly in the position to comment on these songs.“
okay, okay. Here are my comments for 8 - 10. Don’t expect much, my ratings are the same:
8. All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun – The vocals are kinda nice. I do like the “Aaaah”, but the acoustic guitar just doesn’t give me anything. 2.5
9. Aguas de Março – They seem to have fun singing this together. That’s nice. Otherwise this reminds me of elevator music. 2.5
10. I’ll Never Be Free – This sounds very American. Not really my thing. 2.5
And while I’m at it here are 11 – 14:
11. Ignorant Piece Of Shit – I don’t know. It’s not really bad, but I could fall asleep listening to it. Maybe I’m not in the right mood to enjoy this right now. 2.5
12. Drunk w/ The Only Saints I Know – Two times Carissa’s Weird in a row? I guess if the previous song made me sleepy, than this made me dreamy. Which I see as a positive. So here’s a slightly higher rating: 3.0
13. Shadows – Don’t need to be in a certain mood if the song puts you in the mood. Nice performances by the two singers. 3.0
14. No Color, No Light – Oceans of Slumber break my streak of mediocre/okay ratings. Great atmospheric track. Love Cammie. 4.0 |

08.14.22 | 14. Oceans of Slumber - Quiet, slow guitar intro with keyboard underneath. Haunting female vocal followed by romantic male vocal. Picks up in intensity as the song goes on. 3.1 |
SlothcoreSam
08.15.22 | 9. Aguas de Marco- 3.5, I'm sure I've heard this before too, but good to hear again very pleasing to the ears.
10. I'll never be free. 3.2. Old timers music always reminds me of Christmas, and it ain't Christmas yet, so stop teasing me.
11. Ignorance Piece of shit. 3.8 Slowcore is kinda like slothcore, I like this, but kinda want it to get screamy and heavier. But then it would be emo. What's with the 2 minute long silent Outro, time to reflect I guess
12. Drunk with the only saints I know. 4.1 Getting ready for next month's theme, "Bands describing females". Two in a row, this one's a little older, and a little less produced, which doesn't really matter for this genre. It kinda sounds like 2 songs in 1,but works.
13. Shadows. 3.0. Good indie synthpop, Deborah Harry sounds old. They compliment each other well, shame the songs a bit boring.
14. No Color, No Light. 3.6. Nice artwork accompanying the music, vocalists are good. it feels to me of a modern day Meatloaf.
15. Marble House. 3.7, unusual to hear another vocalist with The Knife, Karin's voice is so unique. |

fogza
08.20.22 | 18. My Favorite: Working Class Jacket - Poignant little song, clearly they listen to lots of the Smiths but unlike the Smiths, this didn't irritate or bore me. 3.5 |
fogza
08.20.22 | 19. Limp Bizkit: Nobody like you - It's no secret that I loathe LB and think they're the worst band of the 90's. Davis is partly to blame for unleashing them on the world, and I don't like his melodramatic schtick either. This isn't even catchy in the dunderheaded way they usually are, really boring and a total drag. 1 |
fogza
08.20.22 | 20. Say Lou Lou: Fool of Me - I'm a sucker for this type of cool midnight dream pop at the mo. Even so, probably needs a few stronger moments but hits the spot in a familiar way
3.5 |
fogza
08.20.22 | 21. Felicity Lott and Ann Murray: The Cats' Duet - Oh how everyone at the proms must have tittered and guffawed at this performance. I guess I'm just a Grinch because this isn't funny or fun. 1.5 |

08.21.22 | Still can't edit lists, so I updated the comment with future songs.

08.21.22 | 15. Marble House – Didn’t expect this to be so interesting. It’s one of those easy-to-daydream-to-songs. At least to me it is. 4.5
16. Summertime – Yeah, that deep voice definitely has something. But the song sounds boring to me (maybe I listen to too much rock & metal). Nothing against the song. It’s just not for me. 3.0
17. Mountain Heart – That is a unique sound. 3.0
18. Working Class Jacket – This has more energy than a lot of songs from this list. I also like the addition of the female vocalist - beautiful voice. 3.5 |

08.21.22 | 21. Felicity Lott and Ann Murray - Amusing. 3.0 |

08.22.22 | 22. Broken Social Scene - Energetic percussion. Male & female vocals. Melodic song with some strident sound effects. 3.3 |
fogza
08.22.22 | 22. broken social scene: almost crimes - shambolic the roof tiles are falling off drew and feist don't trade in choruses but near choruses it's decay and twinkle and cheap synthesizer and rubber legs. 4.2 |

08.23.22 | 18. Working Class Jacket. 3.8 Has a late 80s alternate vibe. Never heard of these guys before, it's a good track.
19. Nobody Like You. 2.5 Have not listened to this album since the year it came out. Instantly recognisable, Fred had the most punchable vocal chords. Jonathan on the other hand has a great voice. There is a problem with this song however and it's the 3rd vocalist, Scott Weiland from STP, he's the best thing on this, if Fred fucked off and let Johnny and Scott take control then this would be a 5. But it's not a duet. So minus 2.5.
20. Fool of me. 1.3 Not a fan of Chet Faker's music, but his voice is ok, don't know Say Lou Lou. It's more quiet slow indie pop. I'm over this style of music, boring.
21. Cats. 0.1. What the fuck is this clip. Is this a pisstake, fuck off you rich British cunts.
22. Almost Crimes. 3.8, some chaotic indy, I like how this song keeps you intrigued throughout. Is someone pregnant, that was a bad sax crime.
23. Said sadly. 3.5 Country Pumpkins, slow build up but good song. |

08.23.22 | Ok, let's finish this month off.
Quick fire recs, we need 5 more. Anyone can rec again. |

08.23.22 | 23. Smashing Pumpkins - strummed guitar and Billy Corgan, followed by female vocal (D'Arcy?). Kinda purdy. Billy is less whiny than usual here. 3.4 |

08.24.22 | It’s not D’Arcy, it’s the girl from Veruca Salt |
Egarran
08.24.22 | Shadows - I bet Johnny would call this post-punk. The music is almost good but I don't like this guy's voice. 2.9/5
No Color, No Light - Don't think I've ever heard a doom duet before. It's very nice and very cheesy. 3.5/5
Marble House - Love this song and album. Such a unique atmosphere. 4.5/5 |

08.25.22 | >It’s not D’Arcy, it’s the girl from Veruca Salt
That's an interesting pairing. Anyway, good song. |

08.25.22 | 24. Sonic Youth - Never been a big fan of this band. Fuzzy, echoey opening with two vocals. Pretty repetitive early on. Hope there's a bit of variation. Ah, there we go. Not the worst. 2.9 |
Divaman
08.25.22 | 25. Tears for Fears - Slow funky bass, followed by guitar and synth. Quiet vocal followed by a higher vocal. I remember this one. 3.3 |
fogza
08.26.22 | 23. Smashing pumpkins: Said Sadly - It's an interesting vocal from Billy but dropping all his annoying but trademark tics kinda puts it in a vanilla place. This is a long-winded way of saying the song is a bit boring. 2.9 |
fogza
08.26.22 | 24. Sonic Youth: Cotton crown - I like the idea of SY more than I like SY. That being said, the instrumental parts of this hit the spot and the vocals don't detract from it. 3.6 |
fogza
08.26.22 | 26. CHVRCHES: How to Drown - One of the middest bands ever ropes in old Bob to be present (and not much else) on one of the middest songs ever. 2.5 |

08.27.22 | 27. PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke - Strummed guitar. Thom Yorke starts off. Ends with a weird note as Polly Jean comes in. Later on, he sings and she talks. PJ ruins everything. 2.7 |

08.28.22 | 20. Fool of Me – I first thought there is something wrong with my speakers because of the quiet intro. Then it turned out this is a nice dreamy pop song. 3.5
21. The Cats' Duet – What the…?! Didn’t expect something like this. Well, I don’t speak cat, so I don’t know what the lyrics are about. Everyone in the audience seems to have a good time. Reminded me a bit of the beginning from this classic: https://youtu.be/hAoe7QdZ3ao 2.0
22. Almost Crimes – I like the video a lot. The music is also good. 3.5

08.28.22 | 27. PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke: This Mess We're In - Always thought this was an interesting detour for Thom, to get involved in something a little more grounded and earthy. Great song and performances. PJ improves everything. 4 |
fogza
08.28.22 | 28. Peter Gabriel: Blood of Eden - This song would make my desert island discs or whatever you'd call it. Just on another level of beauty. The only reason I'm not 6'ing it is because I feel Sinead plays more of a supporting role, so I don't know if I classify this as a duet. 4.7 |

08.28.22 | Month is full, now to listen to them all. |

08.29.22 | 28. Peter Gabriel - Slow synth and softly strummed guitar. Nice vocal by Gabriel w/harmony by a very underplayed Sinead. 3.5 |

08.29.22 | I know your want to listen to 19 jahonie |

08.29.22 | 29. Slowdive: Machine gun - Probably an album I should reassess, the big spine tingling downstrokes on the chorus are particularly beautiful. 3.9 |

08.29.22 | 16. Summertime: Yeah it's a classic. Damn that woman can sing. 4
17. Mountain Heart: Kinda boring track - and that piano really drags things down - but I like her voice. 3.2
18. Working Class Jacket: Wait is this more post-punk?? Too bri'is innit 2.8
19. Nobody Like You: I guess this riffs and what have you, but it sounds completely soulless. 2.5 |

08.30.22 | 30. Ismael Lo and Marianne Faithful - Slowly strummed guitar and vocals. Pretty nice. 3.4 |

08.31.22 | 24. Cotton Crown. 3.2. Messy and noisy. I'm not a fan of the vocals, but musically it's good.
25. Woman in chains. 1.5 Slow start, 1 minute of nothing, boring, don't like it.
26. How not to down. 2.5 That voice is so 2013 for me, can't do it anymore. R. Smith is the hero here.
27. Sodium
28. Us. 0.5. I hate Peter Gabriel, but I'll give it a listen, terrible decision, should have skipped it and done anything else with my ears.
29. Machine Gun. 3. Decent 90s shoegaze
30. Without Blame. 2.7. Had potential, but too boring.
31. One less bell to answer/a house... 0.6
Just sounds like they are singing 2 different songs, stupid.
Month done, that was fucking painful.
Someone pick an upbeat fun topic next month. |

08.31.22 | 31. Glee cast: One less bell to answer / a house is not a home - Lolz. Hard for me to be objective about Glee since I despise the show and the tired proliferation of flash mob scenes in TV. It's probably a 2.5 but I'm gonna 2 it. |

08.31.22 | sorry, i had to bring glee ! |

14. No Color, No Light - like the crushing heavyness here, great vocals too. 3.8
16 Summertime - classy stuff, love their voices! 4.0 |

08.31.22 | 17. Mountain Heart - mhmm love the production here. the vocal is peculiar, but it works. 4.2
18. Working Class Jacket - good stuff, i like the energy and the female vocals are very pretty. 3.8
19. Nobody Like You - i was hoping this at least would be dumb fun, but it's really boring. 2.2
21. Duetto buffo di due gatti - oh god al those obnoxious meows and laughter. is this a fever dream? 1.0
22. Almost Crimes - feels like a song that i should really like, but something about it is not quite clicking. I think the hook is not quite it. 3.0
23. ... Said Sadly - nice song, but it does kinda pass me by. 3.2
24. Cotton Crown - sorry sonic youth but adding guitar feedback to a boring song doesn't make it not boring. 2.5
25. Woman In Chains - i love tears for fears, great song. 4.0
26. How to Drown - i really like the first two chvruches albums but i don't get the appeal of this one at all. this is one of the better songs and it's not very good. the chorus is pretty awkward. 2.7

30. Without Blame - lovely song! nice guitar strumming and harmonica. 4.0
