08.04.22 | is the upshot that black metal is arguably older than death metal?? I've always thought of Slayer as basically the catalyst for death metal |

08.04.22 | Need to check some of these out; always struggled to get into death metal. Maybe it will help to go back to the beginning. Thanks for this. |

08.04.22 | I did an 84ish-86 proto-death metal list. Purposefully didn't include Venom though, but it's got 60 solid entries.

08.05.22 | Agree on the Insanity demo being another crucial one. Just discovered it not long ago via parks if I recall correctly. Good shit.
Glad to see Necrophagia represented here considering they tend to be overlooked in the grand scheme of things |

08.05.22 | “Funny to think about that without Fade To Black by Metallica there would have been no melodic death metal”. And the rest! Mikael Akerfeldt has said there would be no Opeth were it not for the clean part from To Live is to Die and I just read that Watain’s Erik Danielsson first inspiration was seeing Metallica in 1993.
Good list here, pretty accurate |

08.05.22 | To Live Is To Die is one of Metallica's best songs, so good on Mikael |
