| Shows through the End of November
We on the homestretch, baby! | 1 | | Lingua Ignota SINNER GET READY
Playing Baltimore Soundstage Friday, 11/18 - I truthfully never got deeply into this project, despite one of my good friends trying to get me to see her play for literal years; the music always felt a bit too stomach-churning and bracingly uncomfortable for my delicate little self even on tape, let alone being face-to-face with its author. But seeing the recent announcement of her retiring this era, I figured better late than never. Seemingly no openers announced, which may be for the best, since I feel like it'll be hard to match this level of intensity. | 2 | | Bartees Strange Live At Studio 4
Playing 9:30 Club Saturday, 11/19 - Somewhat iffy on this, mostly due to being car-less and having to get down D.C.-ways somehow, but if his half-hour set at All Things Go was any indication, may be well worth the logistical headaches. In its favor, as well: I've yet to see either "Free Kelly Rowland" or "Weights" (aka, the best Bloc Party song they never wrote) live, and it's also an "early show" (starting at 6), which my old bones have come to truly appreciate haha | 3 | | Pom Pom Squad Death Of A Cheerleader
Opening for Bartees Strange - I've never really taken a deep dive into this band, but what I've heard has been solid. Also opening: an artist called Spring Silver, who I can only assume based on the name is pretty likely local. | 4 | | SOUL GLO Diaspora Problems
Playing Das Ottobar Monday, 11/21 - Either this was just announced or somehow slipped my radar, but another kind of on-the-fence show, since I'm already on the books for a show the following night. Also dunno any of the other acts (lustsickpuppy, Hostage Crisis, and Doubt), but am open to being convinced. | 5 | | Tigers Jaw spin
Playing Ottobar Tuesday, 11/22 - Already on the books for this one, glad to see this group still alive and well, definitely been many moons since I've seen them. Hoping to snag their new EP at the show. | 6 | | Heart Attack Man Fake Blood
Opening for Tigers Jaw - A band whose name I know, but little else. | 7 | | Glitterer Life Is Not A Lesson
Also opening for Tigers Jaw - See above; guess I've got some homework to do. | 8 | | L.S. Dunes Past Lives
Playing Ottobar Wednesday 11/30 - SUPER stoked for this one. Feels like a worthy recompense for having No Devotion cancel a show last minute earlier this year--even if I was fleetingly over the moon and then just-as-instantly deflated when I mistook their announcement of a joint European tour for applying to this. Still, no openers seem to have been officially announced, so...we live in hope! | |

11.17.22 | With all the bullshit over Ticketmaster and the popular artists’ ticket prices, I’m happy to see a bunch of unknown names on here. There are still places where their corporate tentacles don’t reach. | YoYoMancuso
11.17.22 | Tigers Jaw are an amazing live act, their vocals are identical to the recordings | thecheatisnotdead
11.17.22 | @tina - Truly, though they're sadly few and far between nowadays. I'm very fortunate in that I'm walking distance with a few venues, as well, so I definitely try to grab tickets in person whenever I can to bypass all those ridiculous fees.
@YoYo - Sure are! I think I saw them open for...wow, I don't even remember, might've been Manchester Orchestra many moons ago, and they really brought it, glad they're still out there getting it done. |
