THE PALOMAR SHUFFLE

like a month ago ArsMoriendi and I, our second (?) weekend after moving in to NYC, saw a band called Palomar play a concert. the concert was $10. it was in manhattan, and it was on a saturday night. and yet only maybe 60 people showed up. Why is this weird? 1) Palomar are from Brooklyn which is like putatively "cool" 2) Palomar were formed in 1998 which is "old" which is cool 3) Palomar features three ladies on guitar/guitar/bass/all-vox and a dude drummer, which is I guess a cool dynamic. People like that stuff right? Also they fucking rip 4) Those ladies have been the same since 1998, though the drummer has changed (consistency! cool) 5) Palomar's first three self titled albums (99, 02, 04) are absolute fire and their style is so appealing and their songwriting catchy. The fourth album is good too. The 2012 swan song (for now...) is not good, although it has a lot of good things. MY PROPOSAL: add the three self-titleds to a playlist and hit shuffle. Listen to three songs. Were they good? --sona
