ya just gotta view it differently and it will come to you.
Maybe play around with producing and recording more. |

08.08.23 | it happens [2]
was a shred-nerd at high school (used to know some Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai jams, technical metalcore, etc); ever since I started my master's degree (already graduated), it never was the same
between having more going on in life and having different musical taste - here I am selling out going to electronic festivals -, guitar jams are sporadic and mainly riff-centered
the day I live in a house, however, I'm getting an electronic drumkit |

08.08.23 | Ye try and change it up a bit. Look at the production side of things and it might speak your interest into playing more. |

08.08.23 | Loved playing the piano now it feels like a hassle specially since I wanna be making music instead |

08.08.23 | Is there a rule against shredding in the court room? Sounds like a bullshit career if so |

08.08.23 | Yeah, been in a similar rut with guitar for three years now. I greatly prefer drumming but similarly haven't had access to a kit for those same three years so I've just been playing nothing instead |

08.08.23 | I don’t think you can force it, sometimes you just don’t have the inspiration
I wrote and recorded an album 7 years ago and since then have barely picked up a guitar and have just grinded life.
Now I have a week off next week with days on my own for the first time in years and I’m going to record something new and I’m so excited but I just wouldn’t have been up for it in recent years. |

08.08.23 | Also like Relinquished’s advice, I fucked around with a lot of production and hip hop stuff whilst not feeling playing guitar and that scratched an itch
You can do it completely for free with stuff like Soundtrap nowadays |

08.08.23 | this happens to me all the time, it's up and down like a wave. i think that's just how it is with playing music, sometimes you're really on it, and sometimes you aren't |
widowslaugh123
08.08.23 | I haven’t felt musically creative in close to a decade
That said I still play a bunch of shitty uninspired music that feels forced and uninteresting and in turn makes me want to play even less so maybe just quit forever ? |

08.09.23 | yeah i basically have to force feed myself guitar after work but over the weekend its a lot easier and especially when i have friends to jam with. as far as production is concerned, i would much rather play guitar than do production/composition as necessary as they are. i just find it so tedious and dont like being on the computer in general |

08.09.23 | I'm sort of in the same boat. I've been playing guitar for over twenty years and I was in a band for about 5/6 years where we were playing shows regularly, recording music, etc... and it ended and now I don't really find much joy playing. The part of playing guitar that I loved the most was writing music and not having an outlet where I can work with others to make these ideas come to fruition kind of kills the excitement for me. I play once in a while still but not regularly by any means and honestly, I think it's fine. |
