01.10.24 | Not sure about all time, since it can change from day to day, but for now I'll say "Tomorrow Never Knows" by the Beatles. |

01.10.24 | Guitar solos rarely impress me but the guitar solo in Shiroi Yoru by the band 'D' is killer, here's a link to the song. https://youtu.be/9GWvRf_d6L4 |
Sevengill
01.10.24 | Gamma Ray - Rebellion in Dreamland, because Highway Star and Painkiller are too obvious |

The song Confession is like a guitar solo made into a song |
Sunnyvale
01.10.24 | Probably Dire Straits-Tunnel of Love |

This solo is nuts |

01.10.24 | one of my favs because it's just so cool Revocation - Exhumed Identity. but basically any of Dave's solos are awesome, there's just something about how he composes them idk |
Sevengill
01.10.24 | Forests and Fjords is probably my favorite Dave solo |
el_newg
01.10.24 | yahh so good too |
kildare
01.10.24 | Hotel California and Golden Earring's Twillight Zone are overplayed, and Sunnyvale already beat me to a Dire Straits track (but I would have voted for the more over-played Sultans of Swing). For something more exotic: Primus - Tragedy's a'Comin'. That one is more like a duet between guitar and bass than a true solo, but I love the guitar part especially |
evilford
01.10.24 | Probably both solos in Lucretia by Megadeth |
cylinder
01.10.24 | Steely Dan - Bodhisattva
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Metallica - Fade to Black (the one in the intro)
just a few of my faves |
ArsMoriendi
01.10.24 | Probably the from "Fifty-Fifty" by Frank Zappa & The Mothers
It also has an organ and violin solo |
FowlKrietzsche
01.10.24 | Trapped in a Corner - Death |
cylinder
01.10.24 | ^ that reminds me, pretty much every solo on the Symbolic album too lol |
Butkuiss
01.10.24 | He’s most famous for Cult of Personality, but the moment Vernon Reid suddenly moves into playing out of the box on Living Colour’s Middle Man is one of my favourite moments in music.
Also Ty Tabor has a lot of really great solo work across King’s X’s discog. Over My Head’s two-part solo moves from lyrical hendrixian melodies to Van Halen fireworks and it’s always been a real favourite of mine. Pretend has a nice solo too.
Also like, Lukather’s solo on White Sister and Larry Carlton’s solos on Kid Charlemagne fuck ass, as do the Blackmore/Lord solos on Burn and the Viv Campbell one on Rainbow in the Dark |
Butkuiss
01.10.24 | Also, Bow River by Cold Chisel. Moss’ solo on that should be the national fucking anthem. |
Sevengill
01.10.24 | Jerry Reed's double-stop solo on "East Bound and Down", unironically. |
Avagantamos
01.10.24 | boris - flood 3 |

01.10.24 | Cynic - Evolutionary Sleeper
oh and Talking Heads - Born Under Punches |
DungeonBoy
01.10.24 | The Immortal is such a great opener, that solo is so long and goes between blistering shred and incredible melodies. Burning Bridges is best AE.
Mine is In Flames - December Flower no contest. Every phrase is perfect and everything I want in a shreddy melodic solo.
I've always very much adored the solo to Opeth - Benighted as well. There's something about that sultry syncopation that just gets me every time:

01.10.24 | As lame as it may be, the solo in Master of Puppets is what I think of when I think of guitar solos. |

01.11.24 | I really love the solo in "Silence the Echo" by Born of Osiris. Very tasteful and sounds amazing! Master of Puppets kind of remains the peak of iconic guitar solos in my mind though. |
engleprunt
01.12.24 | Cave In's "Woodwork" is crazy underrated |
FrozenFirebug
01.12.24 | All guitar solos are bad, that's why Korn got rid of them when they invented music.
Except for The Hell Song by Sum 41. That one's cool.
This is both bait and how I really feel. |

01.12.24 | like 99% are bad |

01.12.24 | I agree that many solos are bad. Most of the time they don’t integrate into the main tune, but try to be a “song within a song”, which is just unnecessary. Those are typically the guitar hero-types. I prefer the minimalistic ones, that’s why I Wanna Be Sedated is an excellent choice. |
cylinder
01.12.24 | Sixpounder fuck yeah |

01.13.24 | After The Burial - Ometh
