03.06.24 | try not to be concerned about labelling yourself. gender is fluid (irrespective of the identity). you could be 100% certain you are a cishet man, yet have feminine aspects or qualities. doesn't change who you are as a person, and it shouldn't change how you are treated. as long as we all strive to be the best person we can, and show kindness and respect to others. but also, you know yourself better than anybody else ever will, and don't let others tell you what to do, so ignore all that I am saying here. |

I’ve been down this road and honestly it depends on the individual but over-analysing can cause a lot of damage |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.24 | I genuinely think gender labels are absolutely a product of a broken society and that we shouldn’t NEED to identify as anything. I get why someone might need to, but I just say ‘fuck the haters’ personally, because I do reject a lot of masculinity etc.
Sexuality is obviously a completely separate thing and essentially is whatever you ‘feel’ and is in no way linear, labels aren’t helpful imo (again, a personal thing). |

Completely agreed. And I would extend that sentiment to sexual orientation as well |

03.06.24 | Humans constantly change their opinions, world views, wants and desires, I don't think the obsession with labels has proven to be helpful, to anyone. Just do you, you shouldnt have to commit to being anything for the rest of your life, or justify yourself to anyone. We are all freaks, monkeys pretending we're better than we actually are, so who gives a care if you like some things that don't conform to others world view. Keep on keepin on dood. |
ConcubinaryCode
03.06.24 | We can't tell you how you feel but I think putting aside time for yourself to grapple with these thoughts will be best for you. There isn't a singular path to something like this it looks different for everybody and I kinda do side with gender abolishing thought. It shouldn't matter but it does but people being more comfortable with these ideas helps progress us to a better place. Don't let bad actors influence you either obv |

03.06.24 | I personally think this is one of the few “issues” that people on the left and the right (more so on the right by far, but I don’t feel like having this argument) both get too worked up over.
It’s a spectrum. I say that as someone that occasionally has those kinds of thoughts but for the most part I would consider myself a cishet man, so maybe it’s easier for me to say it this bluntly than someone who already may be marginalized and feels confused about their identity: don’t put too much stock in labels. As long as you’re not hurting anyone, just be your beautiful self : ] |

Language is faulty sometimes, it's only an invention that does not 100% overlap with what it tries to describe. That's ok too. |

03.08.24 | sometimes the labels facilitate people's internal sense of identity and there's nothing wrong with using them if they feel it accurately represents a part of who they are. by assigning such a rigidly negative interpretation to the concept of labels as a whole you are exemplifying the same kind of confining logic that you're arguing against |
anode
03.08.24 | thats fine if you fit neatly into a pre-existing group but i would argue that most people wouldnt since sexuality, like most cognitive traits, varies so widely and is on a complex spectrum. it can be counterproductive to try to categorize complicated things (eg sexuality, race, or even stuff like music genres). certain subjects are too complex to properly categorize |
Colton
03.08.24 | there's a level of variance within these labels though and their meanings are largely subjective anyway. or they're based off of subjective criteria at least
"certain subjects are too complex to properly categorize"
that's why I'm saying you shouldn't categorize the concept of labels as inherently bad |
anode
03.08.24 | i dont, i just find it a little concerning when one is experiencing cognitive dissonance due to lack of fitting into a specific label. like cmon mate you're yourself and unique, isnt that so much better than some self-defined group |
