Deweekly: March 8th to March 14th
It's Judas Priest week but there's another bunch of albums this week that could be good. As always, recs welcome and let me know in the comments what are you digging! |
1 | | Judas Priest Invincible Shield
Already jammed it on my way to work this morning. Their best in a long time... until track 11 when it takes the plunge. Shoudl have they cut it at 10 tracks this would have been their best in a very long time. |
2 | | Moor Mother The Great Bailout
An artist I've always had the will to get into but never gave them the proper time. Planning to do that this week. |
3 | | Slimelord Chytridiomycosis Relinquished
Members or Cryptic Shift? And on 20 Buck Spin? Count me in. |
4 | | Loreena McKennitt The Road Back Home
Is this a live album? In any case, Celtic queen is back and I'm here for her. |
5 | | Ninja Sex Party These Nuts
Could definitely use some synths and a laugh. |
6 | | Midnight Hellish Expectations
Guaranteed good time. |
7 | | Skeletal Remains Fragments of the Ageless
Never heard their music but the name keeps popping up so I'll check them out. |
8 | | Norah Jones Visions
Never pass a chance to hear her voice. |
9 | | Sonata Arctica Clear Cold Beyond
The cover suggests early 00s power metal, could be good. |
10 | | Merrimack Of Grace and Gravity
Probably the best looking BM release of the week. |
11 | | Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine
Can't believe I heard an Ariana Grande record this week but so was my brain telling me to do and honestly I didn't hate it. |
12 | | Tomato Flower No
Psychedelic pop very much in the vein of Palm but way less convoluted. Good stuff although I doubt it'll stick. |
13 | | Early Moods A Sinner's Past
Don't know why I remembered this band as being more bluesy but they are straight black sabbath worship. Also a touch of Wolfmother is they wanted to go metal instead of mainstream rock. |
14 | | Isenordal Requiem for Eiréné
Funeral gothic doom released through Prophecy Productions, that's all you need to know. |
15 | | Exhorder Defectum Omnium
Veteran thrashers groove metallers from Louisiana still going strong. Won't be my favorite album this week but it's a decent jam. |
16 | | Jae Skeese and Superior Testament of the Times
I haven't dug any hip hop since January when there were quite a few that turned out good. This one, I've only heard the first four songs or so but I liked what i heard. |
17 | | Ecclesia Ecclesia Militans
Heavy metal from France. Vocals will be an acquired taste, even myself I'm not entirely sold on them. |
18 | | Kollapse Ar
Somehow I have the feeling I've heard these guys before but don't have a clear memory of when and what. This is solid post hardcore, should cover your needs. |
19 | | Ironwitch Irönwitch
Blackened speed metal, pretty good rec from our dear fresh contributor NightonDrunkMountain. |
20 | | Grey Skies Fallen Molded By Broken Hands
Normally i'd eat up anything released by Profound Lore, but I'm not sure I'll be in the mood this week. We'll see. |
21 | | C Turtle Expensive Thrills
And we enter the bottom of the rec box this week with this lo-fi indie rock four piece from London. Listing this for anyone that digs this stuff, I'll probably pass. |
22 | | Doodseskader Year Two
More or less the same, not my thing but it may be the "thing" of some people here, someone (our also dear fresh contributor) describes pretty well in the comments. |
23 | | Torrey Torrey
budgie-core by the book |
24 | | Jasmine Wood Piano Reverb
Yep, it's ambient. |
25 | | Speedkiller Inferno
More blackened speed metal rec'd by Night. If I had to choose between this or Ironwitch, I'd probably go with Ironwitch though, but this sounds... killer too. Add a bit of Midnight and you basically have a week of blackened speed and black'n'roll.
Or just jam Judas Priest, really. |
