04.30.24 | I like your taste! Have you not listened to any other Miles Davis or is Kind of Blue the only one that you vibe with enough for it to make the top 101? I've been getting into his fusion era recently and so I've been bumping Get Up With It and Standing On the Corner |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | Thanks myri14, glad you like the list! I've heard 9 Miles Davis albums overall and want to hear many more in the future. I like everything I've heard from him but Kind Of Blue does stand out as my favourite Jazz album for sure. I'll especially check those two out, he obviously has a massive discography so I'll take my time getting through more of it but hope to hear as much as possible. |
myri14
04.30.24 | Yeah his discography is so big that it's intimidating. I only heard Kind of Blue recently but I liked it so much that it just kickstarted my big appreciation for Davis's work and I've been enjoying those two that I prev mentioned. Definitely one I want to take slowly as well though lol |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | Yea so many artists just have discographies that makes it hard to know where to start lol, his is definitely a great example. I also don't want to rush and listen to too much all at once, so I think taking it slowing is the best way to go here. |

04.30.24 | Awesome list.... going to check a few of these that have been sitting in my peripheral for a while. |

04.30.24 | Anyone who makes a top 100 albums and puts a decent amount of thought into it deserves a feature IMO, good work and some great picks |
cylinder
04.30.24 | very nice list. a lot of these are among my all-time faves as well.
check:
Sole - Selling Live Water
Doseone - Hemispheres |

04.30.24 | @Zakusz. Thanks, awesome that you like the list! I definitely hope you dig some of the albums you haven't heard yet. Are their any particular that you're looking forward to? |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | @DadKungFu Cheers. It took a while to make as I knew I had to leave out a few albums that I love but I'm definitely happy with it overall as it definitely sums up my tastes quite well. Really glad you like the list. |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | @ Cylinder thanks!. Looks like we have some similar tastes and it's awesome to see.
I'm a fan of both of those albums, I went on a big Anticon deepdive a few years ago and really got into most of it. Yet The Taste of Rain why kneel is just on another level compared to the rest of what I've heard from the label IMO |
ConcubinaryCode
04.30.24 | God loves ugly isn't in your top 100? |
cylinder
04.30.24 | @GLU
Ah, I suppose that's not surprising. Here's one you probably haven't heard:
SIR E.U - I Will Never Let You Go
SIR E.U freestyles everything he records and he's incredible. This particular album was recorded in a studio normally used for podcasts in the lobby of a hotel - and he'd never even heard the beats before. Easily one of the most unique hip-hop albums I've ever heard |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | @ConcubinaryCode yea it's strange really because clearly I love it and it always spoke to me personally but as I was putting this together there's nothing I'd really replace it with. |
GodLovesUgly
04.30.24 | @ Cylinder yea i've never heard of SIR EU so thanks for the recommendation, I'll get to that soon. It's definitely got my interest. |
cylinder
04.30.24 | sweet, curious to hear your thoughts |

04.30.24 | For sure, will let you know. |

04.30.24 | Beautiful list, very sputnik.

04.30.24 | A lot of hip hop 5s in common, salute!!! |
Veldin
04.30.24 | Outside of some deep cut hip hop records, list is pretty standard Top 100 albums, ie What you’ll find when looking at Top Albums of All Time. Not a bad thing, because objectively, those albums are rated classics for a reason, but not a lot of surprises here. Will certainly check out some rap albums I don’t know and props for Deep Puddle Dynamics. You jam cLOUDDEADs debut? |
Veldin
04.30.24 | I see that you have jammed cLOUDDEAD, right on. Huge fan of Yoni and Dose |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | Thanks Egarran!
I'll check that out. |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | @ Veldin yea maybe not many surprises besides some of the very underground Hip Hop ones but after exploring so much music many of these widely acclaimed albums happened to just blow me away as much as they have with many others. Yes definitely get to as many of the rap albums as you can, I've always considered quite a few of them to be overlooked and have always wanted them to be more heard. But yea all are everything about Hip Hop on its highest level IMO. |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | Also yea I'm a big fan of Anticon in general and cLOUDDEAD would be probably be included if I made a part 2. |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | @ jrlikestodance it's always awesome to come across someone with a similar taste in hip hop, respect! |
efp123
05.01.24 | 2, 35, 52, 53, 61, and 98 absolutely kill. Surprised by the username that Atmosphere album isn’t in here. Solid list though |
Rawmeeth38
05.01.24 | Bunch of wack shit |
Veldin
05.01.24 | Yes, Anticon is awesome! “Killing in the name of the Ant” |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | @efp123 you've got great taste in hip hop! Yea it's interesting because while I love Atmosphere and consider Slug to be an MC I deeply relate to overtime their work hasn't held up as well as the albums on this list. If only it were bigger The Lucy Ford Eps and GodLovesUgly would have made it for sure though. I also might have listened to Atmosphere too much at a point in my life where the replay value isn't what it once was. |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | @Veldin yes some of the best lyricism and production in hip hop. Also each artist is so unique. |
GodLovesUgly
05.01.24 | @pizzamachine and Rawneeth38 looks like you've rated some of these albums highly so you're probably trolling. But feel free to recommend some non-wack albums if you want. |
efp123
05.01.24 | Understood.. yeah they have been pretty bad for like a decade too so that doesn’t help things |
GodLovesUgly
05.02.24 | Yea I pretty much had phases of listening to the certain same artists over and over but my taste is much more diverse now and some of my favourites from the past just hold up better then others. I can hardly remember the last 5 Atmosphere albums I just know I've heard them lol. They gave one of the best live shows I've ever seen though, along with Brother Ali. |
