My hometown is on fire

And unfortunately, I mean this literally.
1The Gathering
Mandylion

I used to live in the San Bernardino mountains (specifically Crestline) in California. In fact, I lived there for roughly 15-16 years before joining the Navy.

This Is How Tomorrow Moves

During my time there, I'd encountered quite a few wildfires -- some of which warranted an evacuation to various shelters and hotels while the firefighters contained it. The biggest example is the Old Fire back in 2003, which almost burned down my home... seriously, it was ridiculously close to reaching our house, but thankfully it just barely missed the mark.

The Politics of Ecstasy

And now, it looks like there's a new wildfire that might end up rivaling the Old Fire in its scope and size; it's called the Line Fire. Evacuations have already begun, and a lot of my old friends are in danger of losing their homes and livelihoods. It's already burned over 7,000 acres of land in the span of 2 days, and there's zero containment so far.

I always think back to the time my family and I drove back to our house once the evacuation was over, and how eerie it was. Completely burnt and bare trees surrounding us, a bunch of houses reduced to mere cinders... some of those images have been seared into my mind permanently, and I always think about how lucky our family was to have survived all that.

Master Of Reality

I haven't lived up in the mountains for the last 8 years or so, but for the sake of the friends I grew up with, I sincerely hope they can evacuate safely and quickly. And if the perpetrator was an arsonist instead of the elements, hopefully they can be dealt with as soon as possible ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ
