late Flug 2024 list
the trend continues, more hololive music, less life and variety. numbers under the rating are scrobbles. |
47 | | Eminem The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)
2.0
(collabs fucked up my scobbles, apart from a few songs i didnt listen through more than once)
Disappointing Slim Shady return. Boring beats, recycled persona, and shallow social commentary make for a forgettable album. Needs stronger concept and execution. |
46 | | Yuzuki Choco Burst Song of Destruction
2.5
31
Not much to remember on here unfortunately, some of the songs are definitely better than others, Got Cheat might be my favorite song on here. Overall I regrettably have to label this as one of if not the weakest full album to come out of hololive so far. It's not really my taste. I hope choco mates can get more out of this than I could. |
45 | | Darkthrone It Beckons Us All
3.0
14
Some good riffs on here, last track is probably my favorite, bunch of cool sections in that one. Overall fairly slow and dare i say boring. |
44 | | Sakura Miko Flower Rhapsody
3.0
49
Just like her EP a few years back this really isn't the kind of music I'd listen to if it wasn't connected to hololive. There are some decent songs on here, Sakura Day's probably being my favorite, and its all generally well produced and fun but nothing that would stick with me long-term, nothing I'd feel wanting to return to. My favorite miko song remains her 6 minute trance banger from 2021! |

Vocals are pretty mid but there is potential for this band. Second track goes a lot harder than the first tbh, actually playlist worthy. Third song is early the ocean worship (not like the whole aesthetic of the album isn't already that lul). That groove in Pangaea's second half goes hard. The EP continues to go hard and groove along from there on. |
42 | | Hololive Idol Project Shiranui Construction - Scrap & Build !
3.5
19
This EP is a musical project by the five member group Shiranui Construction, a team focussed on building structures in the various hololive minecraft servers. I suspect this EP will be a lot more interesting for fans of the group. As my japanese is not very good, I can only assume that the lyrics are peppered with fun call-backs to their virtual adventures. Most of what is left is a fairly well crafted, hyperactive pop EP with some great singers from hololive. One big standout track is the dramatic rock banger Run or Run, definitely one of the best hololive group songs of the year. |
41 | | Saxon Hell, Fire And Damnation
3.5
16
should jam again |
40 | | Shishiro Botan Lights
3.5
34
Botan has a pretty unique voice and music taste within hololive, leaning more towards heavy and atmospheric electronic instrumentals while her voice is pretty light and almost angelic. The EP delivers plenty of that to a satisfying degree. |
39 | | ReGLOSS ReGLOSS
3.5
46
I've never got too deep into ReGLOSS during the one year they have been around so far but I've found delight in seeing them in collabs and I've listened to their music. Enjoying most of the songs on here to a decent degree, feelingradation, LAKI MODE and their debut song Shunkan Heartbeat being my favs from this. At 26 minutes its a very short album but definitely a good time and worthy of a few replays. All their voices are pretty unique and the beats have a sort of subtle futuristic flavour to them that binds them all together and creates the ReGLOSS music identity, I suppose. |
38 | | Hakos Baelz ZODIAC
3.5
137
As you can see I jammed this plenty, not only because I love bae and her voice but also because I really wanted some of these songs to grow on me, with little success. This album is pretty spotty. There are some amazing jams but also some really really generic "adult contemporary" slop. I guess thats a common trap to fall into with concept albums like these where every single song starts off as the representation of a concept as part of an overall theme, in this case the zodicas (duh). Other time that happened with deadly sins in calli's Sinderella album that one also ended up as my least favorite (because rocky) album of hers. |
37 | | AZKi Route If
3.5
81
More glitch pop and upbeat pop rock following in AZKi's 2022 output. Track 2 sounds like a typical anime opening with orchestra integration a la hibike euphonium. The only really AZKi Black feeling track is chaotic inner world with its harsh electronic beats, erratic drumming and a overall fairly menacing vibe. Wish AZKi would go more into that sound again. Theres lots of soft and uplifting j-pop in the second half, a good fit for AZKi's clear, breathy and emotional voice to show its full impact. Track 7 somehow sounds like its been produced by Taku Inoue at times. Very similar to his hallmark sound. Wish I could understand more japanese at this point, there is a whole dimension to this album that I'm missing out on. My opinion of this album would further improve, should I get hold of some translated lyrics. Overall a slight disappointment for me but still a pretty great album with enough variety and musical depth to keep me interested for multiple listens. |
36 | | Melvins Tarantula Heart
4.0

They do b melvin. Ok now here is a joke written by chatGPT, enjoy. "Why did The Melvins start a gardening club? Because they wanted to show off their killer 'weed' whacking skills!" Haha alright you whacky algorithm, that was pretty darn funny aaaaahahahaha. |
35 | | High on Fire Cometh the Storm
4.0
11
Why did the High on Fire guitarist get banned from the library? Because every time he checked out a book, he'd turn it into a "heavy" metal masterpiece! Sorry about that, let me explain. High on Fire is known for their heavy and aggressive style of music, often categorized as "heavy metal." The joke plays on the idea of the guitarist being so heavy-metal oriented that even when he checks out a book from the library (which should be unrelated to music), he somehow transforms it into something heavy and metal, like their music. It's a play on the literal meaning of "heavy metal" (the music genre) and the literal weight of a book. |
34 | | Borknagar Fall

9
should really jam this more lul |
33 | | Job For A Cowboy Moon Healer
4.0
10
oops forgot to write a soundoff for this and also forgot pretty much everything about it but i guess it was great about a year ago when i jammed it once. |
32 | | My Dying Bride A Mortal Binding
4.0
27
A return to form of sorts. Simple is best with this one, focussing on heavy riffs and a tragic atmosphere helped with the trademark violin accompaniment. They really honed in on what they are best at here. Only the harsh vocals really aren't what they used to be. |
31 | | Ministry HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES
4.0
38
Their most fun album in a decade or two. Lots of variety on here, every track feels like its own cosmos, lots of ideas that mesh well. This is what Beer tried to be and failed miserably.
(context: ive done a 2 month long structured discography run of ministry this year so i mightve been a bit biased and lacked perspective by the end of it when i got to the latest release) |
30 | | Holohoneygaoka High School Holohoneygaoka High School -Originals-
4.0
(same as with cover album, hassle to count)
a bit spottier than the cover album, which is understandable since the cover album is a sort of best-off from honeyworks, whereas these songs were all written specifically for 5th holofes for these specific talents. |
29 | | Holohoneygaoka High School Holohoneygaoka High School -Covers-
4.0
(scobbles too much of a hassle to count)
classic songs with exciting new singers from holo |
28 | | Nerissa Ravencroft In My Feelings
4.0
56
A surprise EP from one of Hololive's newest and best singers, there's a lot of revival disco and Dance Pop on this EP and I enjoy all of it. Say My Name had been released for a few months now so I'm most familiar with it, its a great song. SHATTER also surprised me with its more eletronic synthpop vibes, definitely my favorite sound on the album. The two middle songs are also pretty good, more Nu Disco in the vein of Say My Name, basically. Pretty great debut EP from Nerissa, took a bit to get used to the sound but I'm digging it now. I definitely get the feeling that she can do a lot more with her voice though. Technically shes one of the most proficient in all of holopro. Sadly she's working with a broken horn here (vocal damage) so I hope she can get the support she needs for that, maybe a surgery like Suisei did two years ago. |
27 | | While She Sleeps Self Hell
4.0
49
Really fun and diverse modern metalcore album with lots of great grooves and catchy choruses. Prefer this to the new Bring Me The Horizon aswell, both bands are kinda overhated but the average on this one is just hilariously low, like did this album kill your family member or smth bruh. |
26 | | Houshou Marine Ahoy!! You're All Pirates!
4.0
118
This long awaited album mainly showcases marines many big singles she released over the last four years aswell as the sheer diversity of her sound. Sprinkled in are a handful of new songs that do a decent job of presenting some new aspects to marines music aswell as padding out the runtime of this unusually long hololive album. Unison and Shinkiro remain my favorite marine songs but there is a lot to enjoy on here. |
25 | | Hololive English Eurobeat Remix Album
4.0
(too much of a hassle to count cause last.fm automarked the tracks as belonging to the individual song's original artists)
WE GO FAST! I'll never tire of eurobeat and the song choices and remixes here are all great thanks to turbo. |
24 | | VOLA Friend of a Phantom
4.0
39
we are so back |
23 | | Watame Tsunomaki WHAT A MESS!!!
4.0
38
watame ss. name is definitely appropriate here but not in a bad way, EP overall falls on the heavier side music wise with two heavy rock songs, a kind of jpop rap song and a more mellow ballad. all great songs but revival had already won my heart over half a year ago so its still my fav. |
22 | | Linkin Park From Zero
4.0
47
still growing on me with every listen, its a really great album. a return to form of some kind, incorporating all kinds of styles that the band tried over their 20+ year career. i appreciate how compact the runtime is, invites for lots of rejams. emily slots right in with their sound and imo honors chesters legacy well. |
21 | | Tokino Sora STAR STAR T
4.0
43
This is probably my favorite release from Sora so far, lots of fun songs, really no weak spots on here. Especially Star Star Start is an incredibly fun and catchy banger. It's great to see her still releasing great stuff after over 6 years, just shows how hard working she is. |
20 | | Alien Ant Farm ~mAntras~
4.0
38
Lyrics aren't great but otherwise this entire thing rules, gives the latest Deftones album a run for its money. What Am I Doing and especially Prosperous Futures are absolutely fantastic songs. Fuckin' A! |
19 | | Sum 41 Heaven :x: Hell
4.0
61
not much substance but all the fun and headbanging you could ever expect from this band. |
18 | | Takane Lui Liberty
4.0
Lui always struck me as having one of the most unique voices in hololive ever since her debut in december 2021. It's mature, slightly raspy and sultry and rather deep, though she can still surprise the listener with some pretty high notes. Honestly I have been waiting for a full album from Lui for a good while now, the singles she released so far over the last 3 years have been some of the best in all of hololive. Especially Fools Fools Fools struck me as one of the most fun metal adjacent bangers the company has produced this far. Now with the album we get five more previously unknown songs which complete the package quite nicely for me here. The journey goes from electro swing to lead single Evil Eye Wink which impresses with a fabulous guitar lick and some of Lui's most impressive vocals to date. I don't even know how to describe Tori To Re:TreaT with its whistling accompaniment in the verses and extremely punchy synths. A treat indeed. |
17 | | Alkaline Trio Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs

14 | | Melted Bodies The Inevitable Fork, Vol. 3

Some of the most inventive, out there, addictive, noisy, fun and bangin music I've heard all year. All four full lengh songs on this EP are pure fire. |
13 | | Charli XCX Brat
4.5
33
next level stuff, beats and vocal production is just absolute peak, might 5 in the future |
12 | | Ado Zanmu
4.5
45
this is so much better than the debut album, its hardly even comparable. sure the debut has some great and very popular singles but otherwise that album really doesn't amount to much. here however, almost every album track has a unique identity and goes freaking hard. not to mention show as the great single which is easily the best song ado has released so far. |
11 | | Moona Hoshinova Orbiture
4.5
76
a collection of singles from one of HoloID's best singers reaching back until 2021, some completely re-recorded for this EP. one new song on here aswell. great variety overall. |
10 | | IDLES TANGK

9 | | Ulcerate Cutting the Throat of God

new zealand is too secular, this is what happens, devil's music. |
8 | | The Smashing Pumpkins Aghori Mhori Mei
4.5

incredible how they managed to reach a new career high so late into their lifespan. never expected that, especially from what is "supposed" to be a washed 90s rock band. |
7 | | Disbelief Killing Karma
4.5
30
Y'all are missing out if you don't jam this right the fuck now. Disbelief until now has been an admire-from-afar kinda deal for me because their music often felt too dense to fully dive into. However, on this album they have reached a level of songwriting that completely blindsided me. They always had a great groove element to their music like channeling Bolt Thrower, but an atmospheric identity completely their own in the death metal scene. I'd describe it as a lovechild of Neurosis and Behemoth, very captivating, thicc atmosphere you can meditate to. Riffs hard af. Album could've been trimmed down a tad but the songs that are here are all fantastic. Yeah this is a 4.5. |
6 | | Judas Priest Invincible Shield
4.5
62
freakin love what they've done with this album, pretty much like every song on here, even the bonus ones. Crown of Horns and Giants in the Sky even manage to make me tear up, this shit is REAL man. |
5 | | Blood Incantation Absolute Elsewhere
4.5
34
one of da bessssss big fun album full of funsies and lovelies |
4 | | The Cure Songs of a Lost World
5.0
31
Gothic rock perfection. Perfect amount of beautiful desolate repetition, relative lack of vocals, just bathing in the atmosphere. The production is just peak, it all feels so organic and simple and fuzzy and right there with you in the room. Could endlessly loop this thing. My god. |
3 | | Amane Kanata Unknown DIVA
5.0
106
Incredible album, willing to give this a 5/5 after the first listen. This is Kanatas Still Still Stellar. There's tons of variety here, goes from absolute hyperactive bangers to heartwrenching balads and everything
inbetween. The through-line is Kanatas extremely powerful and emotive voice. And yes, Fallen Wing is indeed composed by Toby Fox. I am absofuckinglutely kneeling. |
2 | | Alcest Les Chants de L'Aurore

Who set the SOUL settings to max man I can only vibe so hard this is impossibly good just as expected from hearing the singles. I kneel. |
