| 21st Birthday Buying Spree
My family are awesome - rather than try and negotiate my "obscure" musical taste, or buy me other random presents, they just give me money. Which is kickass! | 1 | | Fugazi Red Medicine
I'd passed over this band a lot, but I do own their first two albums. After giving them another few listens, I realised the awesomeness I'd somehow missed on previous listens. This was recommended to me as the best one to go for next, and truly, 'tis reet gud! | 2 | | Fugazi Furniture
So good in fact that I went back to the music shop and got this... | 3 | | Fugazi End Hits
...this... | 4 | | Fugazi In on the Kill Taker
...and this one... | 5 | | Fugazi The Argument
...and ordered this one off t'interweb! | 6 | | Jetplane Landing There Is No Courage Unless There Is Real Danger E.P.
An E.P. apparently. In price (a fiver), yes, but in tracklist, surely not!!! The radio edit of the title track, some radio sessions, some acoustic demos, and a full live set. Running time of over 70 minutes, all of them kickass. That's value for money kids! | 7 | | Jetplane Landing Brave Gravity E.P.
Despite that, I felt I needed two more b-sides too! | 8 | | Hot Water Music Live at the Hardback
Not entirely sure why I've left it so long to get this, but it's about fucking time I finished my HWM collection! | 9 | | Leatherface Cherry Knowle
Didn't even know this was still in print! This is why I love randomly browsing CD shops. | 10 | | Channels Waiting for the Next End of the World
After getting hooked on Jawbox's first two albums, as well as Burning Airlines, I figured I'd get J. Robbins' newest project's album, owing to him having something of a midas touch when it comes to writing music. | 11 | | Jawbox Jawbox
See next... | 12 | | Jawbox For Your Own Special Sweetheart
...Had to get these two secondhand off Amazon, because apparently the record company that released them is full of such arseholes that they didn't realise the awesomeness they had on their roster, and deleted these two fine albums. Bastards. | 13 | | 65daysofstatic One Time for All Time
Damn, that's some boring-ass artwork. Awesome band/album though, now I only need to find the Hole E.P. | 14 | | Architects Hollow Crown
If only all the twats who bought Bring Me the Hairspray's newest one had saved their cash and got this instead, maybe then the "UK's Brightest New Metal Hopes" title would finally be rightfully given to these guys, instead of those befringed cunts in BMTH. /rant | 15 | | Dead to Me Little Brother
Took a few listens of the online stream before I realised the brilliance of this EP, but I'm glad I did. Even better than their debut! Hopefully there'll be another full-length soon. | 16 | | The Ruined Hear Lies
An old friend of mine kept telling me to check out her boyfriend's band. Should have taken her advice before now, these guys are a pretty awesome blend of pre-95 Offspring, and Shut Your Mouth-era AFI. Catchy as fuck horror punk. | 17 | | Liberty 37 God Machine
The "You'll Thank Us for This" feature in RockSound magazine has been pretty helpful in the past in bringing up random awesome albums that have kinda become lost classics, and this one's no different. Somewhere between nu-metal and post-hardcore, but epic and catchy as fuck. Also, only 2.99 in a clearance bin. Score! | 18 | | Far Water and Solutions
Been meaning to check this out since I heard 36CrazyFists' cover of "Mother Mary." Another "finally-got-round-to-it" purchase. | 19 | | Open Hand The Dream
It was songs off this that got me into the band a few years ago, but inexplicably, I bought the other album and left this one 'til now to get. *facepalm* | 20 | | Drive Like Jehu Drive Like Jehu
It's Drive Like fuckin' Jehu man, do I even need an explanation for this?! | |

01.26.09 | Also, on a non-music-related note, I picked up Russell Howard's new stand-up DVD - FUCKING HILARIOUS!!! Seriously, get it. | BallsToTheWall
01.26.09 | Sick haul, Fugazi and Jawbox FTW. May this be a b-day you won't forget. Get trashed and scattered like no other. Smack a hooker. | Fugue
01.26.09 | Is Russell Howard really that funny? I always saw him as a B class comedian. Nice list, happy birthday. | spoon_of_grimbo
01.27.09 | yeah, he's got a kinda weird style, but he's seriously funny!
and thanks guys, had a massive pub crawl on friday night, little of which i can remember... but the bits that do remain in memory were awesome! | SeaAnemone
01.27.09 | You're missing Fugazi's best... 13 songs. | spoon_of_grimbo
01.27.09 | i already had 13 songs and repeater. it was just that i hadn't really gotten into them 'til recently, and that made me go get the rest.
i don't agree it's their best though. atm, it's between red medicine and end hits for me. although i've heard the argument is pretty amazing (it hasn't arrived yet). | Bfhurricane
01.27.09 | In America, my friend, this list would be replaced with all sorts of alcohol. | Bfhurricane
01.27.09 | And yet again I mark my stupidity by not even knowing where you're from. | spoon_of_grimbo
01.29.09 | i'm from England mate, i've had an intimate knowledge of alcohol since the age of about 14! |
