Gentle Reader, Mosh Pit

Some literature is Jane Eyre, and some literature is pure metal. Here are some I feel fit well within the metal genre, and have been used throughout. Tell me some more.
1 God
The Bible

Without this, there would be no metal. There would just be nothing to talk about.
2 J.R.R. Tolkein
The Lord of the Rings

Another essential to metal, especially black metal. Sauron, Orcs, Dead Marshes, Balrog? Metal.
3Norse Mythology

Of all the mythologies, Viking mythology is the most metal. If you die in battle, you go to heaven so you
can get wasted. And then when it's all over, you fight with huge serpents and giants in Ragnarok.
4 Dante
The Divine Comedy

Our first glimpse into Hell, and some of us have never looked back.
5 Germany
Faust

The classic deal with the devil. Kamelot comes to mind with Faust, though I'm sure a lot more touch on
the story.
6 H.P. Lovecraft
The Call of Ktulu

A being so evil, so frightening, it is incomprehensible to the human psyche. Unless you're Metallica.
7 Herman Melville
Moby Dick

WHITE WHALE, HOLY GRAIL
8Anthony Burgess
A Clockwork Orange

Alex is the typical metalhead: he's violent, horny and society doesn't accept that. They try to change him.
But you can't stop the metal.
