Wanna Get Into Dir En Grey?
Dir en grey is a popular japanese band who are beginning to get some recognition in the US.
This list is supposed to help people who are some what curious about them as it pretty much
sums up what Dir en grey are all about. I LOVE THIS BAND!!! |
1 | Dir en grey The Final
These songs aren't really ranked in any particular order, however The Final (from Withering to Death) was
the first Dir en grey song I heard and it got me straight into them. Demonstrates Kyo's great vocal ability
and the band's muscianship nicely. |
2 | Saku
Also from the album Withering to Death, this is a great song to headbang to. It might be a bit too weird
the first time. I was really weirded out when I first heard it but now its one of my favourite songs by the
band. |
3 | Cage
From their first album Gauze, so this track is much more poppier than the previous two but it's still good.
It has one hell of a catchy bass solo. Although i prefer their heavier stuff, I guess its important to examine
all sides of the band... |
4 | Hydra
From the second album Macabre, rather simple in nature but another great headbanging tune. |
5 | Marmalade Chainsaw
Another one of my favourites from Vulgar. The breakdown in the middle is insane. |
6 | Ryoujoku no Ame
From the album The Marrow of A Bone, I think all members of the band perform outstandingly in this track. |
7 | Ain't Afraid to Die
From the single of the same name, this is one of the most emotional ballads the boys have done. The song
builds up steadily into spectacular finale. A very different side to Dir en grey who are often perceived as a
bunch of crazy Japanese guys (which is somewhat true haha) |
8 | Obscure
Oops, nearly forgot about this gem from Vulgar. Similar to Saku, has a creepy atmosphere and is
extremely weird. Kyo loves his gibberish lyrics. |
9 | Glass Skin
From the amazing Uroboros, this track shows off the seemingly telepathic link between guitarists Kaoru
and Die. That haunting riff is amazingly beautiful. |
10 | Dozing Green
From Uroboros once again (it is a spectacular album), this combines their new sound as well as everything-
Dir en grey into one monster track. This track sounds almost like a collaboration with Radiohead, the
wailing is something new and god I want more of it. |
