Vinyl Digzing
Finding a bunch of old records kept up at my grandmas house?
pretty cool. Finding out that
some of them are pretty kick ass...even better. first half is
some highlights of those albums...concluded with
some tasty digs in the second half.
Oh, and rec something if it needs to be. |
1 | | Jimi Hendrix Hendrix in the West
Tbh I didnt know this record existed, released posthumously. |
2 | | Emerson, Lake & Palmer Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Staple album in all of prog music, Keith Emerson is a god. playing piano/keyboards myself, I see him
as a
pioneer in everything that is keyboards/synths today. |
3 | | Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow
This was already one of my favorite albums, so when I discovered it in its original wrapping...jackpot. |
4 | | Marvin Gaye What's Going On
Never really paid much attention to his genre, but it's usually ranked among the top albums of all time.
I'll
give it a shot. |
5 | | Jethro Tull Aqualung
Once again this is one of my favorite albums of all time, and now I can play it on the vinyl is was meant
to
be played on. Personally I think it's one of their best, just ahead of TaaB. |
6 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
My dad was a big zeppelin fan, so I found II-IV. IV is my favorite out of those albums, and I could
probably
re-sell it if he didn't write his name across the album in huge letters... |
7 | | Traffic John Barleycorn Must Die
Don't listen to too much Traffic, any recs? Ive seen this album on a lot of 'Top Prog albums' lists...so I'll
listen to it and decide for myself I suppose. |
8 | | Eric Clapton 416 Ocean Boulevard
Who doesn't like them some Clapton? |
9 | | Emerson, Lake & Palmer Trilogy
Another legendary album by this supergroup...I can't get enough of the album and would recommend
that
anyone who hasn't heard it should probably get a copy of it. |
10 | | B.B. King L.A. Midnight
From what I have of King, I like. It's nothing to get jacked up about, but sometimes when I'm in a chill
mood i'll put on his hits, it's no wonder the man has been touring since the 40s. |
11 | | Mr. Bungle California
Diggin this shit...this album is godly. What else sounds similiar to it?? Not often does the genre on
Sputnik
say "other" so what are some recs? |
12 | | 3 Wake Pig
Smaller band that has very good musicianship. I do not personally play guitar, but if i was really good I
would learn how to play Bramfatura. It sounds amazing and the whole album is very solid. |
13 | | The Mars Volta Octahedron
After a few listens of this album, I really like it. It's grown on me and I think it's put together very well. |
14 | | Moongarden Songs From The Lighthouse
Didn't think Italy would ever put out a prog band...but hey these guys are good. Catchy stuff |
15 | | ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead The Century of Self |
16 | | Minus The Bear Planet of Ice
This band seems like somewhat of a Sputnik favorite, is this their best album? I like what I hear from
them, and if it is their best then what else would sound good? |
17 | | King Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Obviously this is not their best, but I like it a lot. I was at a vinyl store the other day with my buddy and
picked this up along with In the Court....considered that a pretty damn good day |
18 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP
Will this album ever get old/outdated? No, no it will not. While he shows the world that he really
doesn't
care about anyone, the lyrics are deep and Stan is one of the best rap songs out there. I don't care
about
what people say about him now, but this is still one of the best. |
19 | | Sigur Ros ( )
When I want to listen to some post-rock, I automatically think of these guys and maybe Godspeed!.
Imo
they are the best in their genre, even with bands like mono and explosions following close behind. |
20 | | Demians Building an Empire
After some convincing by people to listen to this album, it's growing on me. Opening track is good, and
this band needs more attention. |
